Jose Quintana SP | COL
Strikeouts can't save White Sox SP Jose Quintana on Sunday
White Sox left-hander Jose Quintana fanned eight of the Mariners he retired Sunday. That's impressive.
Other than that - not so much.
Quintana surrendered four runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 inning and would have lost if not for an error with two outs in the ninth that allowed his team to tie it.
His struggles began immediately on a Kyle Seager two-run homer in the first and Austin Jackson two-run dinger in the second. He worked his way out of jams in the third and fourth before working his way out of the game in the fifth.
His effort marked only the second time he has not managed a quality start in his last eight outings.

Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX
Tons of runs allow Yankees SP Nathan Eovaldi to win Sunday
It's hard to believe considering his team scored three touchdowns and a safety Sunday in Atlanta that Yankees starter Nathan Eovaldi didn't have a victory wrapped up upon finishing his outing.
He led just 8-5 after five mediocre innings in which he allowed five runs on eight hits with two walks and seven strikeouts. The Yankees piled on late for a 20-6 thrashing of the Braves.
Eovaldi gave up two runs in the third on RBI singles by Freddie Freeman and A.J. Pierzynski and three more in the fifth on run-scoring hits by Andrelton Simmons and Jonny Gomes.
The five runs was the most Eovaldi has surrendered since June 16. He has received plenty of run support this season, as his 14-2 record despite a 4.17 ERA attests.

Carlos Rodon SP | NYY
White Sox may rest Carlos Rodon in September
With White Sox pitcher Carlos Rodon having thrown more than 110 innings in his rookie season, manager Robin Ventura said the team may skip a start in September to give him more rest, reports the Chicago Tribune.
"There might be a spot where you can skip him and get him into that better line of where you would like to see him end up," Ventura said. "I also like to see him getting the repetition of being out there every five days."
Rodon is 6-5 with a 4.15 ERA over 19 starts this season.

Martin Perez SP | ATL
Rangers SP Martin Perez good enough to beat Orioles
Rangers starter Martin Perez blew a lead, got it back and received a boost from the bullpen to earn a win over Baltimore on Saturday night.
Perez gave up three runs on seven hits in 6 1/3 innings to snag his second win of the season. He walked none and whiffed four.
A three-run, four-hit fifth inning that began with a Steve Pearce blast turned a 3-0 lead into a tie. He retired the next five batters, but successive singles in the sixth knocked him out of the game.
Perez has given up just 11 runs over his last 32 2/3 innings and has lowered his ERA to a still-poor 5.15.

Jake Odorizzi SP | TB
Rays SP Jake Odorizzi collapses in middle innings to take loss
Rays starter Jake Odorizzi has thrown an occasional dud in with his strong efforts over the last couple monthts. His Saturday performance against Kansas City can be counted among them.
Odorizzi blew a lead in lowering his record to 6-7. He allowed four runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings with two walks and five strikeouts.
The right-hander pitched three shutout innings before RBI doubles by Eric Hosmer and Mike Moustakas put him behind in the fourth. The Rays rallied to take the lead, but RBI hits by Moustakas and Kendrys Morales in the fifth made it short-lived and knocked Odorizzi out of the game.
Odorizzi now owns a 3.18 ERA.
