Vidal Nuno SP | WAS
Mariners' Vidal Nuno: Will return to lefty-specialist role
Nuno, who has pitched more middle relief recently, will return to his role as the late-inning situational lefty, the Seattle Times reports.
Mike Montgomery was used in high-leverage situations recently but failed in that role. He'll go back to middle and long relief. Nuno has 12 strikeouts and no walks in 46 plate appearances against left-handed batters this season.

Taijuan Walker SP | LAA
Mariners' Taijuan Walker: Foot trouble persists Sunday
Walker told reporters that he felt discomfort in his foot from his first pitch on Sunday against the Red Sox, the Seattle Times reports. He was removed as a result of the ailment after 88 pitches despite throwing five scoreless innings.
It's unclear if Walker will need prolonged rest before his next start, and a stint on the disabled list may be on the horizon. Walker was sore in between starts after leaving his previous outing due to the injury, but the Mariners' rotation depth has been thinned out recently with Wade Miley joining Felix Hernandez on the DL. The team's plans for Walker should become clearer later in the week, but Donn Roach and recently acquired right-hander Zach Lee are among the candidates in the mix for a promotion if Walker misses time.

Marcus Stroman SP | NYY
Blue Jays' Marcus Stroman: Hammered by Orioles on Sunday
Stroman (6-3) got chased early in Sunday's loss to the Orioles, allowing seven runs on 10 hits in 3.2 innings. He struck out four.
He's now failed to last longer than 5.2 innings in five of his last seven starts, and Stroman's 5.23 ERA can't be written off as mere bad luck given his weak 67:27 K:BB in 96.1 innings on the season. The Blue Jays a couple of days off this coming week, affording him some extra rest before he faces the White Sox on the road next Sunday.

Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX
Yankees' Nathan Eovaldi: Continues to struggle in Sunday loss
Eovaldi allowed four runs on six hits and two walks across 5.1 innings in Sunday's loss to the Twins. He struck out two as he fell to 6-4.
Eovaldi allowed just a solo home run heading into the sixth inning, but he was chased from the game after allowing three men to reach with just one out, all of whom eventually came around to score versus the bullpen. While Sunday's outing wasn't as bad as it appears on paper, Eovaldi has still compiled an ERA of exactly nine in over his last four starts and hasn't last longer than 5.1 innings in any of the four. He will look to turn things around next Sunday versus the same Minnesota squad at home.

Taijuan Walker SP | LAA
Mariners' Taijuan Walker: Five scoreless innings versus Boston
Walker (foot) tossed five scoreless innings in Sunday's start versus the Red Sox, striking out three and walking just one en route to a no-decision.
Walker left his previous start after aggravating a foot problem, but he showed no ill effects Sunday, allowing just one man past first base and throwing 63% of his pitches for strikes. He was lifted after throwing just 88 pitches, so he should be relatively fresh for his next start Friday against the Cardinals at home.

Martin Perez SP | ATL
Rangers' Martin Perez: Allows four runs in 5.1 innings Sunday
Perez allowed four runs on eight hits and three walks over 5.1 innings, but received no decision Sunday at the Cardinals.
Perez gave up a pair of runs in the sixth inning, and he left the contest with a one-run deficit, but the offense took him off the hook for a potential loss by scoring a pair of runs after his departure. Since posting four straight quality starts, he's now allowed eight runs in 12.1 innings of work over his last two outings to raise his ERA to 3.57. He'll make his next start Saturday against the Red Sox.

Jake Odorizzi SP | TB
Rays' Jake Odorizzi: Strikes out eight in Sunday's no-decision
Odorizzi (3-3) allowed one run on four hits over six innings Sunday, striking out eight, but came away with a no-decision in a loss to the Giants.
He and Jake Peavy turned in nearly identical lines over six innings, but Odorizzi got to watch Xavier Cedeno and his bullpen hand the game to San Francisco in the eighth. Odorizzi's line was good, but he ran up his pitch count by starting off just seven of 22 batters with strikes and generating only 13 swinging strikes. His next turn in the rotation is scheduled for Saturday when he works the back half of a doubleheader in Baltimore.

Carlos Carrasco RP | ATL
Indians' Carlos Carrasco: Quality start in Sunday's extra-inning win
Carrasco (2-2) gave up two runs on five hits and four walks over 7.1 innings Sunday, striking out six, but came away with a no-decision in an extra-inning win over the White Sox.
He and Carlos Rodon were in lock-step for the early part of the game, each giving up a single run in the first inning and solo homers in the fourth, but Carrasco at least got to see his team win it in the 10th. He threw 62 of 100 pitches for strikes including 17 swinging strikes, and now has a 3.96 ERA and 22:7 K:BB in 25 innings over four starts since coming off the DL. He'll look to get back in the win column in his next start at home against the Tigers on Saturday.

Carlos Rodon SP | NYY
White Sox's Carlos Rodon: Strikes out eight in no-decision Sunday
Rodon (2-6) gave up two run on eight hits and a walk in 6.1 innings Sunday while striking out eight, but came away with a no-decision in Sunday's extra-inning loss to the Indians.
It was arguably his best start of the season, as his 8:1 K:BB topped a couple of 7:1 efforts earlier in 2016. Rodon threw 66 of 99 pitches for strikes including an impressive 16 swinging strikes, but had to watch from the dugout as David Robertson coughed up the game in the 10th inning. Rodon will have a tough matchup in his next start Friday though, at home against the surging Blue Jays.

Rich Hill SP | KC
Athletics' Rich Hill: Ups pitch count to 30 in bullpen session
Hill (groin) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Sunday, John Hickey of the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Hill has now completed two bullpen sessions without any apparent issues, so his next step will be pitching in a simulated game to test out his groin. The Athletics still haven't provided a timetable for Hill's return, but there appears to be some optimism that he'll be back before the All-Star break.
