Dylan Bundy SP | NYM
Orioles' Dylan Bundy: Pitching better with extra rest
Bundy is proving to be more successful with a schedule that includes extra rest, Steve Melewski of MASN Sports reports.
The Orioles have planned since spring training to carefully manage Bundy's workload over the season, especially during the second half. In four starts with six-plus days of rest, The 24-year-old is 3-1 with a 2.52 ERA -- a line much different than his overall 4.17 ERA this year. His last outing on normal rest was July 23 when he gave up seven runs over 5.1 innings against Houston, Bundy's worst outing (by far) over his five second-half games. Manager Buck Showalter told reporters Monday that Bundy will get added rest again and won't make his next start until Aug. 22 or 23.

Jason Hammel SP | TEX
Royals' Jason Hammel: Plagued by long ball Tuesday
Hammel (5-9) allowed four runs on eight hits and a walk over six innings in Tuesday's loss to the Athletics. He struck out six and did not factor into the decision.
Hammel entered Tuesday's contest having given up just three home runs in his past seven starts, but had trouble keeping the ball in the park against the Athletics. His four earned runs came on homers from Matt Joyce, Matt Olson and Khris Davis during the game's first three innings. With limited strikeout upside and an uninspiring 4.74 ERA, Hammel isn't worth owning outside of the deepest of fantasy formats. He's scheduled to square off against the Indians in his next start Sunday.

Justin Verlander SP | DET
Tigers' Justin Verlander: Taken deep three times Tuesday
Verlander (8-8) took the loss against the Rangers on Tuesday, allowing five runs on eight hits -- including three home runs -- over six innings while striking out eight.
The veteran righty fired 77 of 114 pitches for strikes, but a four-run fourth inning highlighted by an upper-deck blast from Joey Gallo saddled Verlander with his first loss in a month and snapped a streak of five straight quality starts. He still has an impressive 2.72 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 10.1 K/9 since the All-Star break, but Verlander will get a tough matchup in his next outing Sunday at home against the Dodgers.

Wade Miley SP | CIN
Orioles' Wade Miley: Fails to complete five in loss
Miley (6-10) allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four over 4.2 innings in a loss to the Mariners on Tuesday.
The lefty failed to build on the momentum from his seven-inning gem his last time out, as he labored late and was ultimately pulled with one out remaining in the fifth. Miley has allowed five hits or fewer in each of his last five starts, but he leads all major-league pitchers with 72 walks on the season. He's a high-risk option who offers little strikeout upside as a streamer.

Andrew Albers SP | MIN
Mariners' Andrew Albers: Earns win in Mariners debut
Albers (1-0) earned the win over the Orioles on Tuesday, allowing one run on six hits and one walk while striking out four over five innings.
Stepping in for James Paxton (pectoral), Albers gave up a home run to Jonathan Schoop in the first inning, but he eventually settled down and finished strong. He did get some help from his defense (two double plays). Albers was putting together his best season yet at Triple-A prior to the trade from Atlanta, but he hasn't been able to miss bats in prior stints in the majors, so most in mixed leagues will want to continue to wait and see.
-
Blake Snell SP | LAD
Rays' Blake Snell: Finally gets in win column Tuesday
Snell (1-6) picked up the win Tuesday against the Blue Jays, allowing four runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings while striking out four.
It's been a fairly rough second half for the left-hander, who's given up a home run and at least three earned runs in five of six starts since the All-Star break, Snell will take a 4.78 ERA into his next outing Sunday at home against the Mariners.
-
Sonny Gray SP | BOS
Yankees' Sonny Gray: Strikes out five in first win with club
Gray (7-7) allowed two runs on five hits and two walks across six innings to earn the victory Tuesday against the Mets. He struck out five.
Gray enjoyed a tremendous start in this one, rolling through six scoreless innings as his team built an early lead. He pushed on into the seventh but walked the leadoff hitter before allowing a two-run home run to Dominic Smith. The 27-year-old was removed and the bullpen took it the rest of the way, surviving a shaky ninth inning from Aroldis Chapman to earn Gray his first win with his new club. Gray has completed six innings and allowed exactly two earned runs in each of his three starts with the Yanks and will look to continue his steady form Sunday against the Red Sox.

Alex Cobb SP | DET
Rays' Alex Cobb: Could throw off mound Wednesday
Manager Kevin Cash said Cobb (toe) had a good day Tuesday, and could return to mound work as early as Wednesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
If Cobb is feeling well again Wednesday, he'll likely throw off a mound for the first time since landing on the disabled list a week ago. Barring any setbacks, this would line him up for a return to the big-league rotation sometime next week.

Andrew Albers SP | MIN
Mariners' Andrew Albers: Contract selected ahead of scheduled start
Albers had his contract purchased from Triple-A Tacoma and is starting Tuesday's game against the Orioles.
As expected, Albers is set to make his season debut just one week after being dealt to the Mariners. He compiled a solid 2.61 ERA and 115:19 K:BB through 120.2 innings with Triple-A Gwinnett before being traded. The 31-year-old last pitched in the majors for the Twins last season, and he owns a 4.41 ERA and 1.34 WHIP across 79.2 career big-league innings.

Christian Bergman SP | SEA
Mariners' Christian Bergman: DFA'd Tuesday
Bergman was designated for assignment Tuesday.
One day after losing his spot on the major-league roster, Bergman has now lost his spot on the 40-man roster too. As a 29-year-old reliever who doesn't have great credentials at the majors, it doesn't appear he will draw much interest while on waivers.
