Lance McCullers SP | MIL
Astros' Lance McCullers: Wins without best stuff
McCullers (3-1) allowed one run on eight hits, a walk and two hit batsmen while striking out three over six innings in Sunday's 7-1 win over the White Sox.
McCullers had baserunners on in five of his six innings and clearly didn't have his best stuff. Still, he stuck to the script of throwing more two-seamers and changeups along with his curve and navigated any potential damage. As for the issues he's been having facing batters a third time, of the eight batters that got a look at him three times, McCullers allowed two singles and hit a batter. Not a bad effort overall considering his wobbly command. His next start is scheduled for Friday at home against the Athletics.

Corey Kluber SP | BOS
Indians' Corey Kluber: Earns third straight win Sunday
Kluber (3-1) gave up three runs on six hits over seven innings in Sunday's 7-3 victory over the Orioles.
Manny Machado was responsible for two of the three runs that Kluber allowed Sunday, as Machado launched two solo home runs off Cleveland's ace. Kluber's four strikeouts were a season low, but the Indians offense gave him plenty of support and helped him record his third consecutive victory. After making five starts, Kluber now owns an elite 1.96 ERA and 0.76 WHIP. His next start figures to be Friday when the Indians host the Mariners.

Luis Severino SP | ATH
Yankees' Luis Severino: Picks up win Sunday
Severino (4-1) allowed one run on three hits and two walks over seven innings in Sunday's 5-1 victory over the Blue Jays.
Severino put on a great performance Sunday, as he struck out six batters en route to his second consecutive win. The lone blemish on his effort came in the sixth inning when Teoscar Hernandez slugged a home run. Since the start of the season, Severino has allowed more than two runs just once over five outings and now owns a 2.32 ERA and 0.90 WHIP. His next start projects to be Friday against the Angels.

James Paxton SP | BOS
Mariners' James Paxton: Hit hard in Saturday's no-decision
Paxton (1-1) didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's win over the Rangers, allowing five runs on six hits and three walks over four innings while striking out six.
The left-hander threw 67 of 96 pitches for strikes, and while Paxton did keep the ball in the yard the Rangers still made plenty of hard contact, as five of the six hits he gave up went for extra bases. He'll take an ugly 5.61 ERA -- but much more palatable 34:12 K:BB through 25.2 innings -- into his next start Thursday in Cleveland.

Chris Sale SP | ATL
Red Sox's Chris Sale: Overshadowed in strong start
Sale (1-1) allowed three earned runs on six hits while walking one and striking out 10 across seven innings to take the loss Saturday against the Athletics.
Sale is rarely overshadowed by other starting pitchers, but that was the case as his counterpart Sean Manaea threw the season's first no-hitter Saturday night. Sale was strong in his own right but wasn't especially dominant by his standards as he allowed five extra-base hits, including a home run and three doubles. Even so, the end result is nothing concerning and he remains one of the most dominant starting pitchers in the league. His next start comes Thursday on the road against the Blue Jays.

Lucas Giolito SP | SD
White Sox's Lucas Giolito: Exits early, ERA rises
Giolito (0-3) allowed nine runs on five hits and seven walks while striking out one over two-plus innings in Saturday's 10-1 loss to the Astros.
This was the fourth straight game the White Sox have given up at least 10 runs, as the team's starters have a league-worst 6.80 ERA. Giolito, whose ERA rose to 9.00 after Saturday's outing, is a significant contributor to that mark. He had a nice spring, which had us thinking he, and not James Shields, was the real staff ace, but all that's blown up after just four starts. He struggled to find the strike zone Saturday, with just 31 strikes out of 72 pitches, and has now walked 19 batters over 20 innings. He'll get a bit of a break the next time out when he's scheduled to throw Thursday against the Royals, who are tied for last in MLB in runs scored.

Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX
Rays' Nathan Eovaldi: Continues to make progress
Eovaldi is continuing to progress ahead of schedule in his recovery from loose bodies in his right elbow, Bill Chastain of MLB.com reports. "Another good day," manager Kevin Cash said. "[Pitching coach] Kyle [Snyder] said his progress has been pretty remarkable. He said he'd almost compare it to a scraped elbow, and then coming back and throwing. He threw off the mound a little bit today, so he's probably as much on schedule if not ahead of it."
The right-hander's original recovery timetable following late-March surgery was supposed to be 8-10 weeks, but it increasingly appears Eovaldi might come in at or beat the front end of that range. The Rays on Saturday officially named Yonny Chirinos their No. 4 starter, a slot in the rotation that was originally slated to be Eovaldi's coming out of spring training.

Yonny Chirinos SP | MIA
Rays' Yonny Chirinos: Officially named No. 4 starter
Chirinos, who will start Sunday's game against the Twins, has also been officially named the Rays' No. 4 starter, Bill Chastain of MLB.com reports.
Chirinos had previously been confirmed as Sunday's starter without actually having been designated as an official member of the rotation. That changed late Saturday afternoon, when manager Kevin Cash told reporters that Chirinos had built up his endurance to the point where he could take the mound every fifth day. "I just think where he got built up with his pitch count, he's comfortable now that he can provide right around that 100-pitch count," Cash said. "We've been going back and forth with it. It's not the easiest thing in the world to build these guys up...I think we're in a better spot now with Yonny in the rotation."

Dallas Keuchel SP | MIL
Astros' Dallas Keuchel: Breezes to first win
Keuchel (1-3) allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out six over six innings in Saturday's 10-1 win over the White Sox.
Keuchel was gifted an 8-0 lead after two innings and then it became a matter of throwing strikes and getting an easy W. After a rocky start to the season, Keuchel has been impressive the last two times out, allowing three runs over 14 innings. He's in a groove leading up to his next start, Friday at home against Oakland. The left-hander was 3-1 with a 1.98 ERA in four starts against the Athletics in 2017.

Blake Snell SP | LAD
Rays' Blake Snell: Shuts down Twins in Saturday's win
Snell (3-1) picked up the win over the Twins on Saturday, giving up one run on five hits over seven innings while striking out six.
Brian Dozier led off the game with a double and came around to score on Miguel Sano's sac fly, and that was all the offense the Twins could muster against Snell on the night. The left-hander fired 68 of 100 pitches for strikes en route to his third straight win and, perhaps more impressively given the control issues he's dealt with in his career, his second straight start without walking a batter. Snell will try to keep rolling in his next start Thursday in Baltimore.
