Morton (5-8) took the loss Friday against the Rays, giving up seven runs on eight hits and three walks in 5.1 innings. He struck out four.

The veteran right-hander wasn't sharp in his first start following the All-Star break, setting a season high in hits allowed and matching a season worst in runs allowed. Morton had yielded seven runs across his last four starts prior to Friday, but his ERA is now up to 5.58 for the year to go with a 1.56 WHIP and 92:41 K:BB over 88.2 innings (15 starts). His next turn tentatively lines up for next week in Cleveland, although the impending return of Zach Eflin (back) could alter Baltimore's rotation plans for next week.

Castillo (7-5) allowed three hits and two walks while striking out seven over 6.2 scoreless innings to earn the win over the Astros on Friday.

Castillo has won three straight starts, allowing just three runs over 18.2 innings in July. The right-hander threw 66 of 100 pitches for strikes in this outing, which was his fifth scoreless performance of the campaign. Castillo has been in peak form in 2025 with a 3.21 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 100:36 K:BB through 115 innings over 20 starts. He's projected for a home start versus the Brewers next week.

Walter (1-3) allowed one run on three hits and a walk while striking out seven over six innings to take the loss Friday versus the Mariners.

Walter put together his fifth quality start, but he was once again done in by a lack of run support. He's now at a 3.66 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 47:3 K:BB through 46.2 innings over eight starts this season. His strong performance could lead to a tough decision for the Astros' management when the team's rotation is closer to full strength, as Walter has turned some heads during this stint in the majors. He's projected to make his next start at Arizona as Houston operates with a five-man rotation while waiting for some injured pitchers to complete rehab assignments.

Matthews (shoulder) will be reinstated from the injured list and start Saturday's game against the Rockies, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Matthews has been sidelined since early June with a strain in his right shoulder. He was remarkable during his lone rehab outing Sunday, during which he gave up just one hit while racking up nine punchouts over four innings. The 25-year-old carries a 5.21 ERA and 1.47 WHIP through four MLB appearances this season, but his impressive minor-league start and a matchup against one of the worst offenses in the majors Saturday give him some appeal as a streaming option.

Cannon (4-7) earned the win Friday against the Pirates, allowing one run on five hits over seven innings while striking out two.

Cannon turned in one of his best outings of the season, limiting Pittsburgh to a single run on an RBI knock by Oneil Cruz in the fourth. It marked just the second time this year the 24-year-old has completed at least seven innings, needing only 86 pitches to do so. Cannon wasn't overpowering but relied on soft contact to breeze through the outing. The right-hander heads into his next scheduled start against the Rays sporting a 4.18 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 63:29 K:BB across 84 innings.

The Yankees are expected to recall Winans from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

Winans has given up three earned runs over 10.2 innings since being sent back to Triple-A in late June. He'll now rejoin the active roster as a replacement for Rico Garcia and likely take on a long-relief role out of the bullpen.

Lugo took a no-decision after throwing six innings, allowing five runs on eight hits and no walks while striking out five, during Friday's 8-7 loss to the Marlins.

Lugo had been a different pitcher since the calendar turned to June, going seven straight starts without allowing more than three runs. That streak came to an end Friday after the 35-year-old allowed five runs to the Marlins, including two home runs. That's been a bit of an issue for the right-hander lately as he's allowed five home runs over his last three starts spanning 18.1 innings. His next start is scheduled to be on the road at the NL Central-leading Cubs.

Cecconi (5-4) went 8.1 innings to earn the win, allowing six runs on eight hits and no walks while striking out two, during Friday's 8-6 victory over the Athletics.

Cecconi was solid through eight innings, allowing just three runs on five hits, before running into a bit of trouble in the ninth inning. It's possible that he just ran out of gas -- it was the longest the 26-year-old has been asked to pitch all season long -- but he did get the win and saved the Guardians bullpen from too much usage. His streak of seven starts in a row allowing three or fewer runs is over, but working that deep into the game is an encouraging sign regardless. The right-hander is scheduled to make his second start of the second half next Wednesday against the Orioles.

Sears (7-8) took the loss after throwing four innings, allowing seven runs (six earned) on six hits and two walks while striking out five, during Friday's 8-6 loss to the Guardians.

A four-start streak of going at least five innings concluded Friday for Sears. He allowed just six runs over that stretch, so the seven runs he allowed accounted for more than he gave up over his last four starts combined. It also was the second-most runs he's allowed in one start this season behind the nine he gave up to the Astros on May 27. The 29-year-old will look to prove this was just a one-off and not the start of a pattern during his next start, scheduled to be on the road at the Rangers.

Miller (elbow) will throw live batting practice Saturday, Tim Booth of The Seattle Times reports.

Miller's original goal when he began his throwing program in late June was to begin facing live hitters during the All-Star break. Although he'll miss the mark on that goal by a couple of days, he has still made great progress since landing on the injured list June 10 with elbow inflammation. The Mariners will determine the 26-year-old's next steps after he throws Saturday, and it's likely he will have to make a few tune-up starts in the minors before returning to Seattle's rotation.
