Cease and the White Sox won't play against the Royals on Saturday since the game was postponed due to inclement weather.

Cease was lined up to make his second start of the season Saturday after he allowed three runs in 4.2 innings during his 2021 debut Sunday. The White Sox haven't yet announced who will take the mound for Sunday's series finale against Kansas City, although Cease could be an option since the game was postponed several hours before the scheduled first pitch.

Arihara (0-1) took his first loss of the season Friday against the Padres, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and a walk while striking out a batter over four innings.

Arihara had a smooth first inning but ran into trouble thereafter, as he allowed two runs in the second and an additional one in the third on a pair of extra-base hits and a sacrifice fly. The 28-year-old has been capped at 73 pitches in each of his first two outings, meaning he typically won't go deep enough into the game to earn a win. The Rangers haven't given him much run support, as they were victims of the first no-hitter in Padres history Friday night, but Arihara hasn't been particularly impressive either, giving up 11 hits and five earned runs in nine innings while striking out just two batters. He'll take the bump again versus the Rays on Wednesday.

McCullers tossed five innings against Oakland on Friday, allowing one run on two hits and three walks while striking out six. He did not factor in the decision.

McCullers made one mistake in the contest, serving up a long ball to Jed Lowrie in the fourth inning. The right-hander was also a bit wild, issuing three walks and hitting one batter, but he kept the A's from scoring any additional runs by limiting them to two overall hits. Through two contests, McCullers has posted a 1.80 ERA and 13:6 K:BB across 10.0 innings. He'll head to Seattle to face the Mariners for his third start next Friday.

Heaney (1-1) earned the win Friday versus the Blue Jays, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out nine over six scoreless innings.

Heaney had a tough season debut against the White Sox, giving up seven runs in three innings, but he rebounded with a much better second start as he allowed only three runners to get past first base. The southpaw has posted a 13:4 K:BB across nine innings this season. Heaney is expected to face the Twins next Friday but could instead see the Royals earlier in the week, depending on the pitching availability of Shohei Ohtani (finger).

Teheran was scratched from Friday's start against Cleveland due to triceps tightness.

Teheran went through his pre-game throwing program Friday, but he was shut down as a precautionary measure due to a triceps issue. The severity of the injury isn't yet known, but left-hander Derek Holland will start in his place against Cleveland.

Kluber (0-1) allowed five runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks over 2.1 innings Friday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Rays.

The Rays got to Kluber pretty early, bringing home two runs in the second inning. Despite the Yankees taking a 4-2 lead in the third, he then allowed four of the first five Rays on base before getting the hook. He would be charged with two more runs on Joey Wendle's double off Nick Nelson. The 6-foot-4 righty owns a 5.68 ERA and 8:5 K:BB through 6.1 innings this season. Kluber will face Toronto on the road Wednesday.

Hill (1-0) allowed four runs on four hits over six innings Friday, striking out seven and earning a win over the Yankees.

While his line doesn't look terribly impressive, the only damage on Hill came during a four-run fourth for the Yankees that included a two-run Aaron Hicks homer. Sandwiched around that nightmare inning were five perfect frames with five punchouts. The 41-year-old lefty will carry a 7.20 ERA into Wednesday's home contest against Texas.

Cobb, who is scheduled to start Sunday against the Blue Jays, was dealing with a blister earlier in the week, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

At this point, Cobb is not in danger of missing Sunday's start, but it's worth noting since blisters can re-occur. Cobb was originally scheduled to start Saturday but was pushed back to give his blister an extra day to heal.

Keller (0-1) allowed four earned runs on six hits and three walks across 3.1 innings while striking out three to take the loss against the White Sox on Thursday.

Keller's struggles continued from Opening Day and he's allowed 10 runs in 4.2 innings over two starts. In addition, his command isn't there right now, as he's walked five batters during that stretch. The 25-year-old got shelled Thursday, surrendering home runs to Yermin Mercedes and Yoan Moncada in the first inning. Keller will try to get back on track in his next start against the Angels on Wednesday.

Whitlock struck out three over two perfect innings to earn his first career hold in Thursday's 7-3 win over the Orioles.

Whitlock entered the game in the sixth inning with Boston clinging to a one-run lead and set down all six batters he faced on just 20 pitches. After his debut earlier this week, when he struck out five over 3.1 innings, manager Alex Cora told Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com that he would try to expose the Rule 5 draft pick to higher leverage situations. That's exactly what the manager did Thursday. "He belongs," Cora said. "The tempo, the conviction. Most of the time, Rule 5 guys don't shake off your catcher, but he knows what he wants to do, and he does." Whitlock is still viewed as a starter in the long term, and Cora plans to use him in a variety of relief roles.
