McClanahan was added to the Rays' taxi squad Wednesday and will be called up to start Thursday's game against Oakland, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

McClanahan will make his regular-season debut Thursday after he allowed one hit and no walks while striking out seven in three scoreless innings this spring. The southpaw flashed triple-digit heat in Grapefruit League play and posted a 3.17 ERA in two minor-league seasons, but he hasn't yet pitched above Double-A in the regular season. Juan Toribio of MLB.com reported this winter that the Rays view McClahanan as a starter, and Topkin relays the 24-year-old will be used as a true starter rather than an opener Thursday.

Giolito (1-2) picked up the loss against the Tigers on Tuesday, giving up four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out seven over 6.2 innings.

Giolito and the White Sox were clinging to a 2-1 lead when manager Tony La Russa let the right-hander, who had thrown 89 pitches, start the seventh inning, but it all caved in on the pitcher. The Tigers pushed across three runs, and La Russa removed Giolito after a four-pitch walk and 114 pitches. It was Giolito's second straight loss after being roughed up in Boston last week. On the plus side, there was no indication that the cut he sustained on a finger over the weekend had any effect. Chicago's ace is next scheduled to start Sunday at home against Cleveland.

Wacha didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the A's, giving up one run on five hits over five innings. He struck out two without walking a batter.

The right-hander was far from dominant but did pound the strike zone, tossing 52 of 69 pitches for strikes while issuing zero free passes for the first time in five trips to the mound. Wacha will take a 3.86 ERA and 23:8 K:BB through 25.2 innings into his next outing.

Montas (2-2) took the loss Tuesday, giving up three runs on six hits and two walks over six innings as the A's were downed 4-3 by the Rays. He struck out five.

The right-hander threw 73 of 105 pitches for strikes as he delivered his third quality start in five trips to the mound, but Montas wound up on the wrong end of the decision thanks largely to a Brett Phillips homer in the sixth inning. Montas will carry a 6.20 ERA and 25:7 K:BB through 24.2 innings into his next outing Sunday at home against the Orioles.

Milone (1-0) earned the win in relief Tuesday against the Nationals after allowing one run on three hits and a walk across his lone inning of work.

Milone entered the game in the third inning to replace the opener, Trent Thornton, and while he gave up a run on a solo shot from Yadiel Hernandez, he looked poised the rest of the way -- he tossed 15 of his 21 pitches for strikes despite not fanning anyone. The veteran lefty has given up runs in four of his five appearances this season, however, so he hasn't exactly been a reliable arm out of the Blue Jays' bullpen despite posting a 16:3 K:BB across 12 innings to date.

Kluber (1-2) earned the win Tuesday against the Orioles after tossing 6.2 innings of one-run ball, allowing six hits and two walks while fanning five.

Kluber picked up his first win of the season Tuesday and delivered a dominant performance. This was the first time he pitched more than five innings in a game and also the first time he recorded a quality start, which is something huge for a player that has been slowed down heavily by injuries since the end of the 2018 season. Kluber still owns a 4.15 ERA across five starts, but this was certainly a step in the right direction. The veteran is slated to take the ball Sunday at home against the Tigers.

Javier (3-0) pitched seven scoreless innings to earn the win over Seattle on Tuesday. He allowed two hits and three walks while striking out six.

The right-hander made things look easy again, allowing only a pair of hits -- both to Kyle Seager -- and preventing the Mariners from reaching third base. He completed seven innings for the first time in his career and stretched his streak of consecutive scoreless frames to 17. Javier's ERA now stands at a sterling 0.87 through 20.2 innings, and he has complemented that minuscule mark with a 26:6 K:BB. The second-year emerging star will look to continue his hot streak when he faces the Rays on the road Sunday.

Gonzales (1-3) took the loss against Houston on Tuesday, pitching six innings and allowing two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four.

Gonzales wasn't quite as effective as in his prior outing, when he yielded only one run across seven innings against the Dodgers, but he repeated the unenviable feat of taking a loss in spite of registering a quality start. The southpaw held Houston scoreless in each inning except the fourth, when the Astros put up the only pair of runs in the game. The positive takeaway is that Gonzales appears to have fully turned things around after a poor start to the campaign in which he gave up 12 earned runs across his first 10.1 frames. He'll face Baltimore at home in his next scheduled start Monday.

Quintana (0-2) took the loss Tuesday at Texas, going 3.1 innings and allowing five runs, six hits and two walks with two strikeouts as Los Angeles fell 6-1.

Quintana served up home runs to Nick Solak in the first and Joey Gallo in the third before allowing three straight baserunners in the fourth, which ended his day. He's now failed to complete four innings pitched in three of his four starts with Los Angeles.

Urena (1-3) allowed two runs (one earned) across seven innings to pick up the win Tuesday against the White Sox. He gave up seven hits and three walks while striking out two.

True to form, Urena didn't rely on overpowering stuff, but he was able to keep a tough Chicago lineup in check and pick up his first win in a Tigers uniform. A lack of strikeouts typically limits his fantasy appeal, but Urena does now have a solid 3.77 ERA through five appearances, and he's allowed exactly two earned runs in each of his past four starts. The righty will look to keep rolling against the Yankees on Sunday.
