Lynch's contract was selected by the Royals on Monday.

Lynch will make his major-league debut as the starter in Monday's game against Cleveland, so his addition to the active roster was expected. The left-hander posted a 3.10 ERA and 1.27 WHIP in 78.1 innings across 15 starts with High-A Wilmington in 2019. Right-hander Jake Newberry was optioned to Triple-A Omaha while Daniel Tillo (elbow) was placed on the 60-day injured list to make room for Lynch.

Quintana will start Monday's game against the Rays.

Quintana will take the mound one day earlier than expected since Shohei Ohtani (elbow) was scratched from his scheduled start. In his last outing, Quintana allowed five runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two in 3.1 innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Rangers.

McClanahan is scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Angels, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The flame-throwing lefty had a workload restriction in his first MLB start last week against the Athletics, but he dazzled over his four innings, generating five strikeouts and inducing 15 swinging strikes among his 59 pitches. The outing was enough for McClanahan to earn a second start, but he may need to keep performing at a high level in order to ensure he becomes a fixture in the rotation. Tampa Bay didn't formally shift to a six-man rotation to make room for McClanahan; instead, Rich Hill and Michael Wacha were deployed as tandem starters in Sunday's game against the Astros.

Yankees Senior Director of Player Development Kevin Reese said Monday that Schmidt (elbow) has looked "fantastic" during his rehab program in Tampa, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Reese didn't elaborate on where exactly Schmidt stands in his recovery from a right elbow strain, but the 25-year-old has apparently steered clear of any setbacks since beginning a throwing program more than a week ago. Since the Yankees moved Schmidt to the 60-day injured list prior to Opening Day, he won't be eligible for reinstatement until late May, but Reese appears confident the right-hander will make an impact for the big club at some point in 2021. Once deemed healthy, Schmidt will most likely report to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Arihara (finger) will be pushed back in the Rangers' pitching schedule after Hyeon-Jong Yang was awarded the start for Arihara's next turn in the rotation Wednesday against the Twins, Chris Halicke of SI.com reports.

While Arihara won't be available to pitch on his normal rest while he contends with a sore right middle finger, the Rangers aren't yet ruling out the right-hander from making a start later in the week. He recently received an injection in the finger, and the Rangers are hopeful Arihara will show enough improvement in the coming days to avoid a stint on the injured list. The rookie right-hander has been hit hard over his last two outings, failing to escape the third inning on both occasions while surrendering five home runs and six walks between the starts.

Seabold is expected to be sidelined at Triple-A Worcester to begin the season while he contends with right elbow inflammation, Joe McDonald of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette reports.

The Red Sox don't believe Seabold's injury is anything too serious, but he'll likely miss at least one or two turns through the rotation to begin the Triple-A season. Seabold's last action in affiliated ball came in 2019, when he was a member of the Phillies organization. Over his seven outings at Double-A Reading, Seabold posted a 2.25 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 36:10 K:BB in 40 innings.

Bundy (0-3) allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out six over six innings in a loss to the Mariners on Sunday.

Bundy was outdueled by Justus Sheffield on Sunday and was handed another tough loss despite pitching particularly well. The 28-year-old cruised through the first three innings but allowed three singles in the fourth which resulted in the first run for the Mariners. He then surrendered a leadoff ground rule double to Luis Torrens in the fifth who eventually came around to score after a pair of sacrifice hits. Bundy has recorded a quality outing in five of his six starts yet remains winless on the year so far. He'll be in search of his first win in a tough matchup against the Dodgers later in the week.

Houston general manager James Click does not expect Odorizzi (right pronator muscle) to require a minor-league rehabilitation assignment, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Odorizzi threw off flat ground Sunday and is eligible to come off the injured list Thursday. Presuming he throws off a mound before then, Odorizzi could be ready to start when his rotation spot comes due Monday, May 10, against the Angels.

Rodon will open the series against the Royals on Friday, Jared Wyllys of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Rodon's turn in the rotation came due Wednesday against the Reds, but the White Sox opted to push him back a couple of days, so that Dallas Keuchel could pitch on normal rest. Rodon has won all four of his starts thus far while sporting a sterling 0.72 ERA and 0.64 WHIP.

Bubic allowed two runs on three hits with one strikeout over one inning in Sunday's 13-4 loss to Minnesota.

Bubic made his season debut Sunday, but Kansas City was outmatched in the game. The 23-year-old Bubic pitched to a 4.32 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in 50 innings last season. He worked as a starter in 2020, but he's expected to fill a bullpen role for now.
