Irvin didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 8-4 win over the Angels, giving up four runs on nine hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out two.

All the damage against the southpaw came in the first two innings, but Irvin settled down and gave the A's a chance to mount a comeback. Unfortunately that rally came in the bottom of the sixth, after he was no longer the pitcher of record for Oakland. Irvin will take a 3.89 ERA and 56:14 K:BB through 81 innings into his next outing.

Canning didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 8-4 loss to the A's, giving up two runs on three hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out two.

The right-hander exited after 69 pitches (45 strikes) in line for his sixth win of the year, but a six-run sixth inning by Oakland erased a 4-2 lead. Canning will carry a 5.07 ERA and 58:24 K:BB through 55 innings into his next outing.

Skubal (4-7) allowed three runs on six hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in six innings to earn the win versus Kansas City on Wednesday.

The southpaw gave up a solo home run to Adalberto Mondesi and a two-run shot to Salvador Perez. Skubal has had some trouble with the long ball this year, as he's now allowed six homers in 14 appearances (12 starts). The 24-year-old has a 4.36 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 81:31 K:BB across 66 innings. All four of his wins have come within his last six starts, and he hasn't given up more than three earned runs in any outing in that span. Skubal lines up for a home start versus St. Louis next week.

Kluber (shoulder) recently began a throwing program and is playing catch from 60 feet, Justin Shackil of SiriusXM reports.

The veteran right-hander was transferred to the 60-day injured list in early June and is now in the early stages of his throwing program. Kluber won't be eligible to be activated until late July, so he has plenty of time to ramp things up before being able to rejoin the rotation.

Manning will be called up from Triple-A Toledo to start Thursday's game against the Angels.

The 23-year-old was already listed as the probable starter for Thursday's contest, and he's now been added to the big-league roster. Manning has struggled at Triple-A this season with an 8.07 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 36:10 K:BB across 32.1 innings, but he'll nonetheless receive the opportunity to illustrate why he's the organization's top pitching prospect.

Giolito allowed three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out seven in six innings of Wednesday's 8-7 win over the Rays. He did not factor into the decision.

The righty cruised through four innings before yielding two runs in the fifth and another in the sixth. Despite leaving the game with a 7-3 lead, Giolito did not earn a win thanks to his bullpen's failures in the ensuing innings. He has now logged a quality start in five of his last six outings. Giolito is expected to make his next start Tuesday against the Pirates, whom he no-hit a season ago.

Manager Mike Matheny said Singer had shoulder tightness surface after his previous outing Friday, and the right-hander was removed from Tuesday's start after three innings because he reached his pitch count, Joel Goldberg of Bally Sports Kansas City reports.

Matheny indicated the team was happy with the 24-year-old's three scoreless frames Wednesday, so it appears he didn't have any significant issues with his shoulder. Kansas City has scheduled off days Thursday and Monday, so Singer should receive some extra rest before potentially making his next turn through the rotation.

Schmidt (elbow) used all of his pitches during a bullpen session Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.

A week ago, Schmidt was throwing only fastballs in his bullpens, so it is a promising sign of progress that he is now deploying his full arsenal. The right-hander doesn't yet have a target date to begin a rehab assignment, but he is closing in on throwing to live hitters, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.

Singer was removed from Wednesday's game against the Tigers as a precautionary measure due to right posterior shoulder tightness.

Singer was effective early in Wednesday's matchup and allowed one run on four hits and a walk while striking out two in three innings. However, he was replaced after throwing just 51 pitches. Although the right-hander's removal was labeled as precautionary, it's not yet clear whether he'll be able to make his next start. If he's healthy enough to pitch, Singer tentatively lines up to make his next turn through the rotation on the road against the Yankees on Wednesday.

Luzardo secured his first hold in a win over the Angels on Tuesday, allowing a solo home run over one inning.

Luzardo surrendered his fifth home run over his last four appearances when Shohei Ohtani slugged a 429-foot shot to right field, but he was able to otherwise successfully navigate the frame to capture his first hold. The left-hander's recent troubles out of the bullpen -- he owns a 12.71 ERA across the 5.2 innings covering his last four appearances -- figure to delay his return to the starting rotation even further.
