The Angels activated Quintana (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list Monday.

Since Quintana hasn't pitched since May 30 with left shoulder inflammation, he was expected to head out on a minor-league rehab assignment before being activated. The Angels ultimately chose to forgo sending him on the rehab assignment, and the fact that Quintana is being activated despite not being scheduled to start during the two-game series in San Francisco that begins Tuesday suggests that he'll likely head to the bullpen for the time being. Manager Joe Maddon hasn't hinted that the Angels have any plans to abandon their six-man rotation, but at this point, Patrick Sandoval may have secured a starting role ahead of Quintana, who had struggled prior to landing on the IL. Through nine starts this season spanning 33.2 innings, Quintana has posted a 7.22 ERA and 1.93 WHIP while issuing 26 walks.

Gonzales allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out six batters over 6.1 innings Sunday against the Rays. He did not factor into the decision.

Gonzales kept the Rays off the scoreboard for five innings until Manuel Margot tied the game up in the sixth with an RBI double. The 29-year-old lefty then allowed back-to-back doubles in the seventh to give the Rays a 2-1 advantage and was promptly pulled from the game. Gonzales currently sports a disappointing 5.10 ERA and has a 42:18 K:BB over 47.2 innings. He's lined up for a tough road matchup against the White Sox this weekend.

McClanahan pitched six innings of one-run ball, allowing three hits and a walk while striking out a career-high eight in Sunday's loss to the Mariners. He didn't factor into the decision.

McClanahan delivered the best game of his young rookie season, getting to six innings for the first time this year and ringing up all eight of his strikeouts on sliders and curveballs. The only real damage done against him was a third-inning solo homer by Luis Torrens. McClanahan now owns a 4.03 ERA and 54:14 K:BB over 44.2 innings and is in line for another favorable matchup against the Angels over the weekend.

Luzardo, whose record fell to 2-4 when he was charged with the loss against the Yankees on Saturday, has now pitched to a 16.50 ERA and 2.33 WHIP over the six innings covering his last five appearances, which have all been in relief.

Luzardo's return from the injured list as a reliever started off promisingly enough, as he fired four scoreless innings across his first two outings out of the bullpen. However, his abysmal showing since then, which includes at least one home run surrendered in each of those last five appearances, lends credence to the notion the young left-hander may benefit from a change of either role or scenery in the short term to help him snap out of the funk.

Dunning (2-6) took the loss Sunday versus Minnesota. He allowed four runs (three earned) on 10 hits and two walks with five strikeouts in four innings.

The right-hander has failed to complete five innings in five of his last seven starts, and he's gone 0-3 with four no-decisions in that span. Dunning has a 4.71 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 71:23 K:BB across 65 innings this year. He's only allowed six home runs this year, but he's giving up a few too many baserunners to find much success. He'll look to right the ship versus Kansas City in next weekend's series.

Maeda (3-2) allowed two runs on five hits and a walk with four strikeouts in 5.1 innings, earning the win over Texas on Sunday.

Maeda cruised through five innings before Adolis Garcia and Joey Gallo went back-to-back with one out in the sixth. Tyler Duffey relieved Maeda at that time, and Minnesota held on for the win. The right-hander threw 84 pitches (54 strikes) in his second start since returning from an adductor strain and arm soreness. He's posted a 4.85 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 50:15 K:BB across 52 innings this season. He lines up for his next start versus Cleveland next weekend.

Bundy yielded two runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks over four innings in Sunday's loss to Detroit. He struck out two and did not factor in the decision.

Bundy gave up an unearned run in the third inning on an error by David Fletcher and was later tagged with a run in the fifth after he'd been lifted from the game. It was just the second time in his last seven starts that he gave up fewer than four runs. The 28-year-old lowered his ERA to 6.68 to go along with a 60:30 K:BB.

Mize allowed three runs on eight hits and a walk over five innings in Sunday's win over the Angels. He struck out four and did not factor in the decision.

Mize gave up exactly three runs for the fourth straight start and hasn't given up more than three runs in any of his last 10 outings dating back to April. The right-handed rookie was cursed by the long ball Sunday, with all three runs coming on a pair of homers by Jared Walsh and Shohei Ohtani. He's sporting a 3.61 ERA and a 66:24 K:BB through 82.1 innings this season. Mize is projected to face Houston at home next weekend.

Keuchel (6-2) was tagged with the loss Sunday against the Astros after allowing six runs (three earned) on seven hits and four walks across 2.2 innings. He struck out three.

Keuchel couldn't get out of the third inning in his worst performance of the season -- as well as his shortest one by a wide margin. The six runs allowed tied a season-worst mark for the veteran, and the seven hits were just one short of tying his season-worst figure, too. Keuchel still owns a decent 3.98 ERA and will try to bounce back in his next start, scheduled for next week at home against the Mariners.

McCullers (4-1) earned the win Sunday against the White Sox after tossing six innings of two-run ball, giving up two hits and four walks while striking out four.

The four walks tied a season-worst mark for McCullers, who has now posted a 14:11 K:BB over his last three outings, but he still notched a quality start and limited the damage to just two runs. McCullers has posted six quality starts over his last eight outings and owns a strong 2.90 ERA with a 1.16 WHIP overall. He's scheduled to make his next start on the road against the Tigers next week.
