Eovaldi (10-7) allowed one earned run on three hits and one walk while striking out 10 across seven innings to earn the win Wednesday against the Rays.

Eovaldi got tremendous run support to cruise to his 10th win, as the Red Sox had put up 14 runs by the end of the fifth inning. He didn't need much help, however, as he managed double-digit strikeouts for the first time since April 19 and the second time this season. The only earned run Eovaldi allowed came on a solo home run from Brandon Lowe. It was a needed bounceback effort for Eovaldi, as he entered the game having allowed 12 earned runs across his last 10 innings of work. The effort lowered his ERA to 3.92 across 133 frames this season.

Quantrill allowed two runs on three hits and three walks in six innings of a no-decision Wednesday against Oakland. He had five strikeouts.

Quantrill turned a 2-0 lead over to the Cleveland bullpen in the seventh inning, but Oakland rallied with a pair of runs to tie the game and hand Quantrill his fourth no-decision in his last five starts. Still, it was another effective outing for the 26-year-old, who has held his opponents to three runs or fewer in eight consecutive starts dating back to the beginning of July. Quantrill is 3-2 in 32 appearances (14 starts) overall this season, producing a 3.13 ERA in 97.2 innings of work. Twenty-one of his 76 strikeouts have come over his last three outings.

Montas did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's win over Cleveland, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and three walks with six strikeouts over six innings.

Cleveland got to Montas for a pair of runs in the first inning -- one on a Jed Lowrie throwing error and the other on a Harold Ramirez RBI single -- but the right-hander settled in and put zeroes on the board in each of his final five frames. It was the sixth straight quality start for Montas, who lowered his ERA to 3.98 on the season. He'll take a 9-8 record and 146:36 K:BB in 131 innings into his next start, tentatively scheduled for next week on the road against the White Sox.

Skubal (8-10) tossed six scoreless innings to earn the win Wednesday against the Orioles. He allowed five hits and a walk while striking out six.

Skubal was excellent for the Tigers on Wednesday and has now tossed 11 scoreless innings over his last two starts. While the 8-10 record doesn't look amazing, the lefty does lead the team in wins, and his 4.10 ERA is a step in the right direction after recording a 5.63 ERA during his 2020 rookie campaign. Skubal has shown good strikeout stuff throughout his time in the majors, as he now has 164 strikeouts across 148.1 career MLB innings. If the 24-year-old can continue to limit the free passes like he did in this outing, he has the talent to keep posting good numbers. Skubal lines up to face the Angels on Tuesday in his next scheduled start.

Singer (3-8) allowed five runs on 10 hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 3.2 innings, taking the loss versus the Yankees on Wednesday.

In his first start since a stint on the injured list with right shoulder fatigue, the 25-year-old allowed five of the first six batters to reach base. Singer induced double plays in the first and third innings, but he was no match for the Yankees on Wednesday. He's now at a 5.42 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 94:40 K:BB across 91.1 innings in a difficult second major-league season. Singer projects to make his next start at home versus Houston next week on six days' rest with Kansas City deploying a six-man rotation going forward.

Valdez (8-3) allowed a run on four hits and four walks while striking out eight in six innings to earn the win over Colorado on Wednesday.

The southpaw continues to walk far too many batters, as he's issued at least two free passes in each of his last eight starts, but he was able to pitch around them Wednesday. Valdez lowered his ERA to 3.09 with a 1.30 WHIP and 81:40 K:BB through 84.1 innings. He'll look to keep up the solid work in Kansas City next week.

Ober allowed six hits and a walk with six strikeouts over 5.1 scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the White Sox on Wednesday.

The right-hander again saw a limited workload, throwing 54 of 82 pitches for strikes. He was able to work effectively, but Minnesota didn't open the scoring until the bottom of the sixth inning on Jorge Polanco's solo home run. Ober remains unlikely to be allowed to throw much more than 80 pitches down the stretch, which greatly limits how deep he can work in games if he's not at his best. He has a 4.53 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 62:16 K:BB across 57.2 innings this year. The 26-year-old is projected to make his next start versus Cleveland next week.

Stripling was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain Wednesday.

Stripling's move to the injured list was expected after he exited the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Angels due to the injury. Manager Charlie Montoyo didn't provide a timetable for the right-hander's return, but Steven Matz appears to be in line to continue serving as the No. 5 starter.

Schmidt (elbow) was activated from the 60-day injured list Wednesday and optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Schmidt made his final rehab appearance with Double-A Somerset earlier Wednesday, signaling the end to his time on the injured list with an elbow strain. The right-hander got his workload up to 3.2 innings and should continue ramping up as a starter with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and he could be a rotation option for the Yankees down the stretch.

Manager Charlie Montoyo said after the Blue Jays' 4-0 win over the Angels in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader that Stripling has been diagnosed with a left oblique strain and is without a clear timeline for a return, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports. "I don't want to speculate...but he's not gonna make his next start, that's for sure," Montoyo said, regarding when Stripling might return.

Stripling was pulled after two scoreless frames during his start Tuesday, with the Blue Jays initially attributing his early exit to left abdominal discomfort. After Stripling was checked out by the training staff in the locker room, Montoyo confirmed the right-hander is dealing with a more serious injury that will likely result in him being placed on the 10-day injured list prior to Wednesday's contest. With Stripling set to go on the shelf, Steven Matz appears to be secure as the Blue Jays' No. 5 starter for the time being.
