Wacha (3-4) allowed two runs on three hits over six innings Friday, striking out seven without walking a batter and earning a win over Minnesota.

Aside from a pair of solo homers by Jorge Polanco and Ryan Jeffers, Wacha cruised through the Twins' lineup in Friday's win. The Rays managed to push five runs across in the first three innings, leading the 30-year-old to his first win since July 7. He's allowed just three runs through 10.1 innings (2.61 ERA) over his last two appearances after registering a 6.93 ERA in his previous 11. Wacha will carry a 5.54 ERA into his projected road start against Detroit next week.

Overton was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays on Friday.

Overton was recalled by the Blue Jays on Aug. 27, but he didn't make any appearances during his week in the majors. The right-hander has allowed four hits and two walks while striking out four in 6.2 scoreless innings in the big leagues this year, but he'll be removed from the 40-man roster as part of a move after left-hander Kirby Snead was recalled Friday.

Stripling (oblique) threw live batting practice Friday and is expected to begin a rehab assignment in the near future, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Stripling has been on the shelf over three weeks with a strained left oblique, but it appears he's about to begin the final stage of his rehab work. The 31-year-old hasn't been sidelined for too long, so he could rejoin the Blue Jays after making only one or two starts in the minors.

Ober is expected to start but piggyback with Michael Pineda (oblique) in Cleveland on Monday, with the two pitchers combining for six or seven innings, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

This would likely mean that Ober would not last long enough to qualify for the win in that outing. Pineda is going to piggyback rather than go out on a rehab assignment, but it is unclear if this arrangement will just be a one-time thing or something the Twins will utilize more frequently down the stretch.

Giolito was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday with a strained left hamstring.

It already seemed likely that Giolito would miss around 10 days at minimum, but the White Sox made the move official and called up Ryan Burr from Triple-A in a corresponding move. Giolito is eligible to return Sept. 11 against Boston, but it's unclear if he will need more time than that. He'll throw a bullpen Sept. 8 to help evaluate his progress, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Seabold was scratched from his scheduled start Friday for Triple-A Worchester, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

The 25-year-old was scratched as a result of the Red Sox wanting to keep fresh arms available in case of further COVID-19 infections. Seabold's teammate Kutter Crawford was scratched from his start Thursday for the same reason.

Montas (visa issues) was placed on the restricted list Friday, Shayna Rubin of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Montas can't accompany the team to Canada for this weekend's three-game set against the Blue Jays due to visa issues, so he'll head to the restricted list for the next few days. The right-hander was originally scheduled to start Friday, but due to the visa problems the outing was moved up to Thursday. He pitched well against the Tigers, allowing three runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and three walks over 6.2 innings to pick up the victory.

Urena made an appearance out of the bullpen in Wednesday's 8-6 win over the Athletics, tossing two innings while giving up three runs on six hits.

After being activated from the injured list last weekend, Urena served as a starter for Detroit in his first outing since July 17, pitching for three innings before giving way to the bullpen. The Tigers haven't formally defined Urena's role for the rest of the season, but he looks like he'll work in relief for the time being while Tyler Alexander and Matt Manning hold down back-end spots in Detroit's six-man rotation.

Bubic allowed a run on one hit and two walks with three strikeouts in two innings during Thursday's 4-2 loss to Cleveland.

Bubic lined up to start Friday versus the White Sox, but his turn in the rotation has been skipped after his Thursday relief appearance. The southpaw had an awful August, posting a 7.15 ERA and 1.76 WHIP in 22.2 innings across five starts. After Thursday, his ratios have inflated to a 5.16 ERA and 1.53 WHIP with a 91:52 K:BB. A 4.7 BB/9 rate is not going to generate much success in general. Per Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star, Bubic is expected to return to the rotation next week on short rest by starting Monday versus lowly Baltimore.

McKenzie (4-5) earned the win Thursday against the Royals after tossing six innings of one-run ball, allowing two hits and a walk while fanning six.

McKenzie had a rough stretch between July 20 and Aug. 5, during which he posted a 6.86 ERA in 21 innings across three outings, but he's been excellent since then with four straight quality starts, not allowing more than one earned run in any of his last three appearances. He owns a blistering 1.33 ERA on 27 innings across that four-game span, but more importantly, he looks completely recovered from the shoulder fatigue that landed him on the injured list last month.
