Severino (shoulder) is reportedly doing well and is expected to return to mound work by next weekend, Marly Rivera of ESPN.com reports.

The right-hander has been playing catch after tests recently cleared him of structural damage to his shoulder. He was subsequently allowed to restart a throwing program but has yet to progress to mound work. Given the limited time remaining in the regular season, the chances of Severino pitching for the Yankees this season appear slim though not entirely unfathomable.

Dunn (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, the team's official site reports.

It was another step in the right direction for the right-hander, who's been on the injured list since June 18. However, Dunn's status for the remainder of 2021 is still firmly up in the air, and how his shoulder responds to the workload is likely to help chart his path forward for the rest of the regular season.

McClanahan (9-5) picked up the loss Thursday against Boston, pitching five innings and allowing four runs on eight hits with two walks and eight strikeouts.

The rookie left-hander ran into trouble early Thursday, surrendering four runs across five innings, all of which came via singles. Despite tying a season-high four runs allowed, McClanahan also tied a career-high eight strikeouts. The southpaw is tentatively scheduled to take the mound next week against Boston once again.

Manning (3-6) was charged with the loss Thursday against the A's after allowing eight runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out one across 3.2 innings.

Coming off one of his best outings of the year, Manning got off to a rough start with a 32-pitch, four-run first inning Thursday. The right-hander walked Starling Marte on six pitches, then walked Matt Chapman with two outs. Jed Lowrie took advantage by launching a three-run home run, and Mark Canha with a solo shot to make it 4-0. Manning never recovered from there, resulting in his sixth loss of the season. The 23-year-old has a 6.29 ERA and 1.60 WHIP this season, and he's not guaranteed to stick in the rotation through the end of the campaign.

Rodriguez (11-7) picked up the win against Tampa Bay on Thursday, pitching six-plus scoreless innings on four hits with one walk and six strikeouts.

After allowing a combined eight runs across his last two appearances, Rodriguez bounced-back nicely in what was his third scoreless outing in his last six starts. This was an impressive showing for the left-hander, who allowed only five total baserunners before being pulled with two runners on in the seventh inning. Rodriguez is expected to face Tampa Bay in a rematch next week in his next turn through the rotation.

Montas (11-9) picked up the win Thursday after holding the Tigers to three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out seven across 6.2 innings.

The A's tried to get Montas through seven, but the right-hander couldn't go the extra distance. He recorded two outs before Akil Baddoo launched a two-run homer on his 104th and final pitch. Montas left the game with an 8-3 lead en route to his 11th win of the season. The 28-year-old has now punched out at least six batters in each of his last 10 starts. He'll bring a 3.68 ERA and 1.20 WHIP into his next projected outing Wednesday against the White Sox.

Odorizzi (6-7) was handed the loss against the Mariners on Wednesday after allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out seven over five innings.

Odorizzi made it through five scoreless frames but came back for the sixth and was pulled after surrendering a single and a walk to open up the inning. The runner on second came around to score on a sacrifice fly, which ended up being the only run scored by either team. The 31-year-old reached seven strikeouts for just the third time in 13 starts since June 21 and induced 14 whiffs on the day overall. He's allowed two runs or fewer in four of his last five outings but hasn't reached the six-inning mark since July 9. Odorizzi owns a 4.32 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 82:31 K:BB over 89.2 innings and lines up for a rematch against the Mariners next week.

Gilbert held the Astros off the scoreboard for five innings Wednesday while allowing four hits and striking out four. He did not factor into the decision.

Gilbert missed out on the victory as the Mariners didn't score until scratching across the lone run of the game in the bottom of the sixth. He still had an excellent performance and blanked one of baseball's top offenses without walking a batter while notching 18 swinging strikes. The 24-year-old had been struggling lately, allowing 19 runs over his last three starts, including nine runs in a start against the Astros on Aug. 21. Gilbert now owns a 5.14 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 101:20 K:BB over 91 innings for the season, and he's lined up for a road matchup against the Astros again next week.

Ryan (0-1) was tagged with the loss Wednesday against the Cubs as the result of allowing three runs on three hits and one walk over five innings. He struck out five.

Ryan wasn't bad in his first big-league start -- he induced 14 swinging strikes and surrendered only three hits over five frames. However, a third-inning three-run home run by Frank Schwindel was all the Cubs needed to secure the victory in a contest during which Minnesota was shut out on only two hits. Ryan wowed with a 92:12 K:BB across 66 Triple-A innings this season, and he showed good swing-and-miss potential in his major-league debut. He'll likely stick in the rotation for the remainder of September as he auditions for the team's 2022 rotation.

Rodon (11-5) picked up the win Wednesday versus the Pirates, tossing five innings of one-run ball on five hits, a walk and five strikeouts.

The 28-year-old was able to limit the Pirates to only one run, an RBI single in the fifth inning by Cole Tucker. The left-hander has been having his innings limited by the team as it is gearing up for the playoffs and he only threw 77 pitches in this one. On the year, he has a sparkling 2.41 ERA to go along with 11 wins. He projects to start next on the road Wednesday against Oakland.
