Irvin (9-13) took the loss Sunday in Toronto. He allowed seven runs on eight hits and no walks with two strikeouts in 2.1 innings.

The southpaw's seven runs allowed all came on four extra-base hits, and he scattered another four singles that made those hits more devastating. He's now failed to get past the fifth inning in his last three starts, with one in that stretch shortened by a hip injury. Irvin has a 4.10 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 101:33 K:BB across 151.1 innings this season. He's projected for a more favorable home matchup versus Texas next weekend.

Ray (11-5) allowed one hit and three walks over 6.2 scoreless innings while striking out 10 to earn the win over Oakland on Sunday.

After the first two games between these teams were slugfests, Ray made sure the series finale was a lopsided affair. He posted his eighth straight quality start and his fourth outing in a row with double-digit strikeouts. The southpaw has produced plenty of gems lately, but this was one of his best. Ray has a 2.60 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 212:41 K:BB through 166 innings this year. He'll look to keep rolling in an extremely favorable road matchup versus Baltimore during next weekend's series.

Cease (11-7) allowed four runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks over five innings Sunday, striking out nine and taking a loss against Kansas City.

Most of the damage against Cease came in the first inning when he allowed a three-run shot to Salvador Perez before recording an out. Since his last loss on July 21, Cease was 4-0 with a 2.85 ERA and 56 punchouts in seven appearances. The 25-year-old righty owns a 3.87 ERA and a 197:59 K:BB through 148.2 innings on the year. Cease is projected to face Boston at home next weekend.

Singer (4-9) allowed four hits over seven scoreless innings Sunday, striking out six and earning a win over the White Sox.

Singer was terrific in Sunday's win, coughing up just four singles and never letting a runner reach scoring position. It was his first scoreless outing since April 18, and he picked up his first victory since June 1. Over his last four starts, the 25-year-old righty has allowed four earned runs over 24.2 innings (1.46 ERA) with a 23:9 K:BB. Singer is lined up to face the Twins on the road next weekend.

Bubic is slated to start Monday's game against the Orioles, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Following his 15th start of the season Aug. 27, Bubic moved back to the bullpen this past week, making a two-inning relief appearance in Thursday's 4-2 loss to Cleveland. With Jakob Junis (shoulder) recently joining Brad Keller (lat) on the injured list and with Daniel Lynch's status uncertain due to a finger injury, Bubic will move back into Kansas City's six-man rotation as it begins a four-game set in Baltimore. Bubic tentatively lines up for a two-start week, with his second turn set to come Sept. 12 in Minnesota.

Detmers (COVID-19) rejoined the Angels in Anaheim on Friday, per Sam Blum of The Athletic, but it remains unclear when he will be ready to be activated, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Detmers confirmed that he recently tested positive for COVID-19 and was placed in "hard quarantine." The rookie last pitched in a big-league game Aug. 21, so it may take some time for him to ramp back up into game shape. If he can stretch out relatively quickly, Detmers could potentially reclaim his spot in the rotation upon his return.

Gonzales (7-5) was credited with the win Saturday against Arizona despite allowing five runs on eight hits and one walk over five innings. He struck out two batters and surrendered two homers.

The start wasn't among the left-hander's finest this season, but Gonzales nonetheless managed to stretch his streak of decisions without a loss to six. It was the first time since his last loss -- which took place July 3 against Texas -- that Gonzales has given up five or more runs, with four of the five tallies against him Saturday coming in the first inning. The veteran has served up two long balls in each of his past three games but has walked away with two wins in that span. His next start is likely to come Friday in a rematch against the Diamondbacks.

Valdez (9-5) took the loss against San Diego on Saturday, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four over six innings.

All four runs against the southpaw came in the second inning, during which the Padres tallied four hits and got help from Valdez, who hit two batters and committed a balk that resulted in a run. Though he was able to complete six frames, the rough second inning resulted in Valdez's streak of four straight quality starts coming to an end. Still, it has been a strong campaign for the 27-year-old, who leads Houston starters with a 3.08 ERA while notching nine wins. He's expected to make his next start at home against the Angels on Friday.

White Sox manager Tony La Russa said Sunday that Rodon won't make a start during the team's upcoming three-game series in Oakland while he contends with left shoulder soreness and fatigue, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

La Russa said Rodon might be able to pitch next weekend against the Red Sox, so a trip to the injured list isn't in the forecast just yet. Given Chicago's sizable division lead, the team has the luxury of exercising extreme caution with their dominant lefty, even with two other starting pitchers (Lucas Giolito and Lance Lynn) currently residing on the injured list.

Boyd (3-8) allowed five earned runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out six across four innings, taking the loss to the Reds on Saturday.

Boyd gave up all five of his runs in the third inning. He allowed five hits in the inning, capped off by an Aristides Aquino three-run homer. Boyd has hurled four-inning losses in both of his starts since returning from the 60-day injured list with a triceps injury. The 30-year-old has a 3.89 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 67 strikeouts in 78.2 innings this season.
