Cole (3-0) allowed three runs on six hits and one walk over 6.1 innings Friday, striking out nine and earning a win over the White Sox.

Cole gave up just one run on a balk through five innings of work. He then served up a two-run shot to Gavin Sheets in the sixth. The 31-year-old righty has racked up 34 strikeouts over his last 25.1 innings after beginning the season with 12 through 11.1 frames. Friday's contest was the first time he's allowed more than two runs since April 13. Cole will carry a 2.95 ERA into his projected start in Baltimore next week.

Greinke didn't factor into the decision during Friday's 14-10 win over Colorado, allowing seven runs (five earned) on eight hits with four strikeouts in 4.2 innings.

Greinke struggled in the second and fifth innings, permitting three runs on three hits in the second and four more runs on four hits in the fifth which prompted his removal. The seven total runs Friday approach the 38-year-old's mark of 10 through his first six starts, though the one Brightside is he tossed a season-high 101 pitches. He'll have another opportunity to go for his first win next week against the White Sox.

Gray allowed two runs on four hits and four walks over 4.1 innings in Friday's win over the Guardians. He struck out eight and did not factor in the decision.

Gray got through four innings with just one run allowed before Austin Hedges knocked a solo shot to lead off the fifth. The 32-year-old righty threw 82 pitches and forced just nine swinging strikes but still struck out a season-high eight batters. Gray has yet to finish five innings in any of his four starts this year. He'll carry a 3.68 ERA into his projected start in Oakland next week.

Civale (1-3) yielded six runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.2 innings Friday, striking out five and taking a loss against the Twins.

Civale got off to a rough start, allowing a pair of solo home runs to Byron Buxton and Jorge Polanco in the first inning. He managed to keep Minnesota scoreless for the next few innings before he and Bryan Shaw were tagged with eight combined runs in the fifth. Civale has now given up six runs in three of his last four starts, inflating his ERA to 9.84 through 24.2 frames. He's currently lined up face the Tigers at home next week.

Valdez improved to 2-2 on the season Friday against the Nationals, allowing one run on seven hits across 7.2 innings while striking out six and walking a pair.

Valdez was handed a 5-0 lead before he stepped onto the mound and never looked likely to let Washington back in the game. He didn't allow a baserunner with less than two outs until the sixth inning, when a leadoff single from Juan Soto was quickly countered by a double play. He finally ran into trouble in the seventh inning, giving up a run on a fielder's choice after allowing the first two batters to reach base safely, but that wasn't enough to make it anything but a very strong outing for Valdez, who now owns a 2.93 ERA. He'll look to lower that mark Thursday against the Rangers.

Dunning (1-2) allowed five runs on six hits and two walks over 5.2 innings Friday, striking out six and taking a loss against the Red Sox.

Dunning looked solid through five innings of work, yielding just one run on an RBI single by Rafael Devers in the third. He then gave up four hits in the sixth inning, including RBI doubles via Alex Verdugo and Franchy Cordero, before he was pulled from the contest. The 27-year-old had allowed three or fewer runs in each of his six starts before Friday's poor outing. Dunning will carry a 4.06 ERA into his projected home outing against the Angels next week.

Bundy (illness) won't start Saturday against the Guardians, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Bundy cleared the league's COVID-19 protocols Tuesday, but manager Rocco Baldelli revealed Friday that the right-hander is still dealing with the effects of the virus. The Twins haven't yet indicated when Bundy will return to the mound or who will start Saturday's matchup.

Hancock (lat) will make his season debut for Double-A Arkansas on Tuesday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Hancock has been out all season with a strained lat. He'll probably have a tough time pushing for his big-league debut this season, as he's made just 12 career professional starts including just three at the Double-A level, but the sixth overall pick in the 2020 Draft has plenty of potential and could be a factor for the Mariners in 2023.

Hill (illness) has rejoined the Red Sox and will start Saturday against the Rangers, Julian McWilliams of The Boston Globe reports.

Hill tested positive for COVID-19 last Friday and was away from the team for a week. However, he threw on his own while isolating and has been cleared to start on the road against the Rangers on Saturday. The left-hander tossed a season-high five innings during his last start, and he should be able to handle a relatively normal workload since he kept throwing during his time on the COVID-19 IL.

Schmidt was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday.

Schmidt was sent down by New York on May 1, but he'll rejoin the big-league club after spending just under two weeks in the minors. The right-hander has made four relief appearances for the Yankees this year and has posted a 1.08 ERA and 0.96 WHIP in 8.1 innings.
