Taillon (11-2) allowed three runs on three hits and three walks over seven innings Monday, striking out six and earning a win over the Mariners.

Taillon served up a pair of solo home runs in Monday's victory, including a first-inning shot by Mitch Haniger. The 30-year-old righty also loaded the bases with two outs in the fourth but wiggled out of the jam after giving up just one run. Taillon earned his first win since July 16 and turned in his longest outing since June 2. He'll carry a 3.95 ERA into his projected start in Boston this weekend.

Suarez (4-4) allowed two hits and two walks over seven shutout innings Monday, striking out eight and earning a win over the Athletics.

Suarez was dominant Monday, firing 67 of 97 pitches for strikes, including 14 whiffs. He didn't allow an extra-base hit and Oakland never put together any momentum against him. The 24-year-old southpaw lowered his ERA to 4.04 with a 61:27 K:BB through 62.1 frames. Since he was tagged with six runs against the Dodgers on July 16, Suarez has fired 17.1 consecutive scoreless innings. He'll look for a fourth straight win next week at home against the Mariners.

Irvin (6-9) yielded one run on five hits over eight innings Monday, striking out six and taking a loss against the Angels.

After serving up a solo homer to Luis Rengifo in the first inning, Irvin locked in and dominated the rest of the way. He allowed just one more runner to reach scoring position and tied his season best with 16 whiffs. The 28-year-old lefty has thrown at least six innings while giving up fewer than three earned runs in seven consecutive starts; he lowered his ERA from 3.58 to 2.92 during that span. Irvin will carry an 84:23 K:BB into his projected road match with Houston this weekend.

The Rays haven't yet ruled Glasnow (elbow) out from making a late-season return from the 60-day injured list, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. "The chance is not zero," pitching coach Kyle Snyder said Saturday. "Let's say that much. It's pretty remarkable just to see where he is."

Topkin notes that Glasnow still has at least a few important hurdles to clear before getting the green light for game action, but he's been throwing bullpen sessions for more than a month, with Snyder noting that the right-hander's fastball velocity has hovered around 98-to-99 miles per hour. Snyder said that Glasnow is also successfully executing his breaking pitches. The 28-year-old is expected to begin facing live hitters in two weeks, and he'll need to prove that he can command all of his offerings effectively prior to heading out on what could be an extended rehab assignment. The Rays still view Glasnow as a starter in the long haul, but if he's cleared to make his return from Tommy John surgery in September, he'll likely be brought back in a bullpen role.

Stripling (hip) threw a bullpen session Monday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Stripling landed on the injured list last week, but he is already back up on the bump. His next step will either be a live bullpen session or perhaps a rehab outing.

Boyd (elbow) faced hitters in a live batting practice session Monday, Corey Brock of The Athletic reports.

Boyd, whom the Mariners acquired last week in a deadline deal with the Giants, has been on the shelf all season after undergoing left flexor tendon surgery last September. He was diagnosed with a strain in the surgically repaired tendon in June, but after a four-week shutdown period, he was cleared to start throwing again. Boyd appears to have navigated bullpen sessions without any setbacks, so facing hitters likely marks the final hurdle he'll need to clear before heading out on what could be an extended minor-league rehab assignment. The 31-year-old southpaw may not have enough time to build up for a starting role, but he could prove to be a useful asset out of the Seattle bullpen down the stretch.

Varland was promoted to Triple-A St. Paul on Monday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Varland was bumped up to Double-A Wichita to begin the 2022 season, and he posted a 3.34 ERA, 119:39 K:BB and 1.34 WHIP in 105 innings over 20 appearances (19 starts). The right-hander will have a chance to prove himself against Triple-A competition late in the year. However, he's unlikely to be in the mix to join the Twins until sometime in 2023.

Wilcox (elbow) began a rehab assignment Monday with the Rays' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate and struck out two while allowing one hit and one walk in a scoreless inning.

Wilcox faced five batters in his 2022 debut and in his first outing since undergoing Tommy John surgery last September. Given that pitchers typically require at least a 12-month recovery from the procedure, Wilcox wasn't expected to take the mound in 2022, but he evidently recovered at a faster rate than the Rays anticipated. He's still likely to require several outings in the FCL before reporting to Single-A Charleston, where he finished the 2021 campaign.

McCullers (forearm) struck out five over five innings and allowed five runs on seven hits -- including two home runs -- and three walks in his rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Sugar Land.

Making what was expected to be the fourth and final start of his minor-league rehab assignment, McCullers probably wasn't as sharp as the Astros envisioned, but he was at least able to get stretched out to five innings and 86 pitches Sunday. Assuming the Astros were satisfied with how McCullers checked out physically following the outing, he should be cleared to come off the 60-day injured list to make his next start with Houston, which is expected to move to a six-man rotation to accommodate him. He tentatively lines up to make his 2022 debut for the big club this weekend against the Athletics at Minute Maid Park.

Ragans is listed as the Rangers' scheduled starting pitcher for Thursday's game in Houston.

The rookie southpaw will make his second straight turn through the rotation after he had a strong showing in his MLB debut last week against the White Sox, covering five innings and striking out three in a no-decision while allowing one unearned run on three hits and four walks. He'll need to cut down on the free passes to consistently succeed in the big leagues, but Ragans looks like he'll at least have a decent amount of leash in the Texas rotation while Jon Gray (oblique) is expected to be sidelined into September.
