Gausman (11-9) picked up the win in the first game of Monday's doubleheader against the Orioles, allowing two runs on seven hits over 6.2 innings. He struck out six without walking a batter.

Anthony Santander took him deep in the first inning, but Gausman settled in after that and for the next four frames blanked the team that selected him fourth overall in the 2012 draft. The right-hander has delivered five quality starts in seven outings since the beginning of August, posting a 2.70 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 48:4 K:BB through 43.1 innings over that stretch.

Ober (groin) is scheduled to make his second rehab start Tuesday with Single-A Fort Myers, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.

Ober joined the affiliate last week for his first game action in three months and looked good over his three-inning outing, striking out three while allowing one run on three hits. The 42-pitch appearance suggests that Ober will be built up as a starter during his rehab program, so he'll likely require at least one or two additional outings beyond Tuesday before the Twins bring him back from the 60-day injured list. Before being shut down with an aponeurotic plate injury, Ober made seven starts for Minnesota and produced a 4.01 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 29:7 K:BB across 33.2 innings.

Perez (10-6) took the loss against Houston on Monday, allowing one run on six hits and one walk while striking out five batters over seven innings.

Perez bounced back nicely with a quality start after allowing five runs over five innings against the Astros six days ago. However, the southpaw was outdueled by rookie hurler Hunter Brown and was tagged with his second straight loss. Perez nonetheless lowered his season ERA to 2.82, which ranks seventh best among qualified American League starters. Prior to this season, his lowest season ERA was 3.62 in 2013, so he's been one of the most pleasantly surprising starters in the majors this season.

Brown (1-0) earned the win over Texas on Monday, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out five batters over six scoreless innings.

Brown has been very good in the minors this season, posting a 2.55 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 134:45 K:BB over 106 innings in Triple-A. The right-hander didn't disappoint in his first major-league outing, holding the Rangers to one extra-base hit and no runs across six impressive frames. Brown walked only one batter after posting a 10.6 percent walk rate in the minors, and control could be the key as he continues to face big-league batters moving forward. The excellent debut will likely allow Brown get another turn in the rotation, though the eventual return of Justin Verlander (calf) could push him to a bullpen role or a return to the minors.

Gonzales (10-13) was tagged with the loss against the White Sox on Monday, pitching seven innings and allowing three runs on four hits and one walk while striking out three batters.

Gonzales limited Chicago to four hits, though two of those were home runs. He finished with his third straight quality start but nonetheless had his three-game winning streak snapped. Gonzales' 13 losses are tied for second-most in the majors. However, he also has 10 wins, making him one of two big-league pitchers (along with Miles Mikolas) to reach double figures in both wins and losses so far this season.

Lynn (5-5) earned the win over Seattle on Monday, allowing an unearned run on three hits and one walk while striking out 11 batters over seven innings.

Lynn racked up an impressive 25 swinging strikes in the victory, the most he has recorded as a member of the White Sox, per James Fegan of The Athletic. The right-hander also threw a first-pitch strike to 19 of the 25 batters he faced and notched double-digit punchouts for the first time this season. He got off to a poor start this season, but Lynn has registered an incredible 73:5 K:BB and posted a 2.98 ERA over 60.1 innings since July 16.

Suarez (6-6) allowed three hits and a walk while striking out seven over seven shutout innings to earn the win Monday over the Tigers.

Suarez turned in his second straight quality start and was fairly dominant, throwing 67 of 92 pitches for strikes. He left the game with a big lead that was never in danger. The southpaw has completed at least five frames without allowing more than three runs in any of his seven outings since the All-Star break. He's at a 3.77 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 84:31 K:BB through 86 innings across 18 appearances (16 starts) this year. Suarez is projected for a road start in Cleveland next week.

Varland will be called up from Triple-A St. Paul to start Wednesday on the road against the Yankees, Patrick Reusse of 1500 AM ESPN Twin Cities reports.

Varland, 24, logged a 3.34 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 119 strikeouts in 105 innings at Double-A Wichita before recently getting a promotion to Triple-A. He was dominant for St. Paul, giving up just four earned runs with a 0.85 WHIP and 27:3 K:BB in 21.1 innings across four starts. There's no reason he can't stick in the rotation over the rest of the season if he pitches fairly well in his MLB debut.

Singer allowed four runs (three earned) on nine hits with just one strikeout in six innings versus the Guardians on Monday. He did not factor in the decision.

Singer allowed a pair of runs in both the second and sixth innings, and he left the contest in line for a loss. The Royals rallied to tie the game in the eighth to get the right-hander off the hook. He met the baseline for a quality start, his fifth in his last six outings, and he hasn't taken a loss in that span. Singer owns a 3.38 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 125:30 K:BB through 23 appearances (20 starts) this year while serving as the Royals' most reliable starter.

McKenzie allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits and two walks while striking out five over 5.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Royals on Monday.

McKenzie pitched well for four innings but gave up a two-run home run to Drew Waters in the fifth. The Royals added another run to McKenzie's ledger in the sixth, and he ended up one out shy of a quality start. He's now missed that achievement in two straight outings after recording four in a row. For the season, the right-hander has a 3.18 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 154:41 K:BB through 158.1 innings across 26 outings (25 starts). He remains at a 9-11 record heading into a projected road start in Minnesota this weekend.
