Athletics manager Mark Kotsay said Tuesday that an MRI on Miller's right elbow came back clean, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Miller felt discomfort in his throwing elbow following his last turn in Oakland's rotation Sunday against the Royals, but there is no structural damage in the joint and he is expected to try a side session Friday. He seems likely to miss his next start, or at least have it delayed, but the current belief is the talented 24-year-old will be able to avoid the injured list. He's delivered an impressive 3.38 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 22:7 K:BB through his first 21.1 major-league innings.

Paxton (hamstring) will start Friday's game against the Cardinals, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Paxton will make his season debut after missing the first month-plus of the 2023 campaign due to a hamstring strain. The left-hander has shown the ability to miss bats in the past, but he offers some significant risk based on his lack of time on the mound over the past few seasons.

Severino (lat) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Severino had been hoping to push it to Thursday so he wouldn't have to drive to Scranton on Tuesday for an early morning start Wednesday, but the Yankees appear to have overruled him. The right-hander is aiming to make two rehab starts before rejoining the rotation, although it's possible the club will need him to put in more minor-league work than that before deeming him ready for activation.

Rodon (back) was given a cortisone injection Tuesday and could throw off a mound as soon as this weekend, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Rodon will be shut down for 48 hours following the injection before beginning exercises Friday. If that goes well, he could be cleared to throw off a mound soon after. Rodon is battling through what's been described as a chronic back issue and the hope is the injection will help get him over the hump. He'll have to get ramped back up and begin a rehab assignment before a potential timetable for return can be considered.

Faedo will start for the Tigers on Saturday versus the Mariners, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Faedo permitted three runs (two earned) over 4.2 innings against the Cardinals on Sunday in his first start in the majors this season. The right-hander will get another opportunity against a struggling Mariners lineup but will be a risky streaming option.

DeGrom (elbow) remains limited to playing light catch and there is no timetable for when he will be cleared to throw off a mound, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.

"We're going very easy with it and testing it out," Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said. While deGrom is eligible to return from the injured list Sunday, it's clear that it's going to take longer than that, perhaps much longer. Understandably, the Rangers want to proceed very cautiously with the prized right-hander as he works his way back from right elbow inflammation. Dane Dunning got the first start in deGrom's place and could be set for multiple turns through the rotation.

Kaprielian, who fired five scoreless innings for Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday in his second minor-league start since being optioned to the Aviators, is a candidate to be called up if Mason Miller's elbow tightness causes him to miss at least one turn, MLB.com reports.

The right-hander faced Sacramento on Sunday for the second time in as many starts for Las Vegas and was even sharper than the first time around, allowing just three hits and no walks while recording three strikeouts. Kaprielian exhibited some significant control problems and couldn't keep the ball in the park consistently during three starts for Oakland before being sent to the bullpen, but he's issued just two free passes and hasn't allowed a home run during his first 8.1 innings on the farm. Word on Miller's short-term availability or lack thereof should be imminent following further evaluation by team doctors that was slated for the early part of the week.

Gibson (4-2) took the loss Monday, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over six innings during a 3-0 defeat to the Rays. He struck out four.

Despite notching his third quality start of the year, Gibson took his second loss, as Tampa Bay's pitching staff combined for a shutout. It was a solid bounce-back performance for the right-hander, who surrendered a season-high six runs last time out, and he currently sports a 4.40 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 31:13 K:BB through his first eight starts (47 innings). His next start is tentatively scheduled for a three-game weekend set versus the Pirates.

McClanahan (7-0) earned the win Monday, tossing six scoreless innings in which he allowed four hits and four walks during a 3-0 win over Baltimore. He struck out seven.

McClanahan tied his season high with four walks, but he was still able to complete six innings for a sixth time this year and earned his seventh win. The left-hander has been the definition of an ace through eight starts (46 innings), posting a 1.76 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 58:20 K:BB. McClanahan's next start lines up to occur during the upcoming four-game weekend series against the Yankees.

Bibee (1-1) took the loss Monday, allowing four runs on seven hits and four walks over 3.2 innings during a 6-2 defeat to the Tigers. He struck out two.

After not walking a batter in his first two appearances of the campaign, Bibee allowed four free passes Monday and also surrendered season highs in hits and runs. Aaron Civale (oblique) is starting to throw again, but he'll likely have to make a couple rehab assignments before he's activated off the injured list, so despite his poor outing, Bibee should still get a few more turns in the rotation. His next start is tentatively scheduled for a three-game weekend set versus the Angels.
