Hunter Gaddis RP | CLE
Guardians' Hunter Gaddis: Sent to minors
The Guardians optioned Gaddis to Triple-A Columbus on Saturday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
Gaddis has been inconsistent in the majors this season -- he has three scoreless multi-inning appearances alongside four starts in which he allowed three runs or more. If he's able to right the ship in Triple-A, there's a chance he rejoins the big club later this season. For now, Michael Kelly will take Gaddis' spot after being selected from Columbus on Saturday.

Alex Faedo SP | TB
Tigers' Alex Faedo: Placed on 15-day IL
Faedo was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday with right middle finger discomfort.
Faedo reported some tenderness in his right middle fingernail following his last turn in the Tigers' rotation Tuesday versus the Rangers. It doesn't sound like an overly serious injury, but he'll be sidelined for a little while. It's not clear how Detroit plans to fill the rotation vacancy, though Tyler Alexander could perhaps be elevated from the long-relief role that he's currently occupying.

Chris Bassitt SP | BAL
Blue Jays' Chris Bassitt: Placed on paternity leave
Bassitt was placed on the paternity list Saturday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Bassitt was excused from the Blue Jays immediately after delivering 7.2 scoreless innings in a win over the Mets on Friday. He should be back in time for his next scheduled turn in the rotation, an outing in Toronto versus the visiting Astros.

Easton McGee RP | KC
Mariners' Easton McGee: Moves to 60-day IL
McGee (elbow) was transferred from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list Saturday.
McGee is expected to be sidelined until late 2024 after undergoing Tommy John surgery last month. Bryan Woo will take over the vacant 40-man roster spot.

Marco Gonzales RP | TEX
Mariners' Marco Gonzales: Placed on 15-day IL
Gonzales was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a left forearm strain.
Gonzales felt discomfort in his forearm following his last start May 28 against the Pirates and testing has since revealed a strain. Bryan Woo is up from Double-A Arkansas to fill the vacant spot in the Mariners' starting rotation, beginning with his MLB debut Saturday versus the Rangers. There's no timetable yet on Gonzales, but this type of injury usually requires more than just a couple weeks of rest and rehab.

Bryan Woo SP | SEA
Mariners' Bryan Woo: Selected for MLB debut
Seattle selected Woo's contract from Double-A Arkansas on Saturday.
Woo is set to make his major-league debut in a start Saturday against the Rangers as he skips the Triple-A level. The 23-year-old right-hander had registered a sharp 2.05 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 59:12 K:BB through 44 innings (nine starts) this season in the Texas League and seems worthy of a try in most fantasy formats. He's replacing Marco Gonzales (forearm) in the Mariners' rotation.

Eduardo Rodriguez SP | ARI
Tigers' Eduardo Rodriguez: Could miss six-plus weeks
Rodriguez, who is on the 15-day injured list with a a ruptured A4 pulley in his left index finger, could be facing a six-to-eight week absence, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
Stavenhagen spoke with Dr. David Hay, an orthopedic hand and wrist surgeon, about the rare injury and Hay's estimation was that Rodriguez could need 10-to-14 days of serious rest, followed by two-to-four weeks of light recovery, usually with a taped finger, and on the whole it could be six-to-eight weeks before he is throwing at high intensity. Hay noted that without seeing Rodriguez's MRI, the timeline could vary, although Stavenhagen cited similar injuries to Adam Wainwright in 2008 and Randy Dobnak in 2021 that both resulted in 10-week absences.

Chris Bassitt SP | BAL
Blue Jays' Chris Bassitt: Brilliant against former club
Bassitt (6-4) picked up the win in Friday's 3-0 victory over the Mets, scattering three hits over 7.2 scoreless innings. He struck out eight without walking a batter.
All things considered, Bassitt's ability to maintain his focus and shut down the team he pitched for in 2022 was uncanny. The veteran right-hander had to wait out a 90-minute rain delay, and once he took the mound he pitched like a man who had a plane to catch -- which in fact he did, as his wife was back in Toronto about to give birth to their second child. Bassitt fired 64 of 101 pitches for strikes and retired 14 straight Mets at one point, a streak ended by a Starling Marte single in the seventh inning. The quality start was Bassitt's ninth in 12 outings this season, and he'll take a 3.41 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 65:26 K:BB through 74 innings into his next start, likely to come at home next week against the Astros.
