Gonzales (elbow) said upon his return from the All-Star break that his progress from a left flexor strain has been good, but he didn't elaborate any further, the team's official site reports.

The left-hander has been on the shelf since June 3 and was shut down from all activity for two weeks after meeting with Dr. Neal ElAttrache on June 26 in Los Angeles. There's no indication yet that Gonzales is inching closer to a throwing program, and he'll be in store for a lengthy rehab assignment whenever he does progress to that stage of his recovery.

Miller (elbow) was recently evaluated by Dr. Keith Meister and has progressed to throwing on flat ground, the team's official site reports.

Manager Mark Kotsay stated Miller will continue to catch and go through his throwing program, which recently saw him progress from long toss to throwing off flat ground. The young right-hander will continue to take his rehab "day by day" according to Kotsay, wording that appears to support the notion Miller is still a ways away from returning.

Kaprielian (shoulder) has progressed to throwing on flat ground, MLB.com reports.

The right-hander received a cortisone shot in his right shoulder July 6 and initially progressed to playing long toss before moving to flat ground. If his recovery continues without setbacks, Kaprielian should eventually graduate to throwing bullpen/live batting practice sessions before embarking on a rehab assignment.

Bieber (forearm) was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Bieber underwent an MRI on his forearm Friday, and while the Guardians have yet to announce any specific diagnosis for the righty, he's evidently dealing with something serious enough to keep him out for at least 15 days. Forearm issues are sometimes the first sign of an injury which requires major surgery, so there's a chance Bieber is out far longer than that. Cortes (shoulder) will throw to live hitters again Monday and is expected to kick off a minor-league rehab assignment soon thereafter, per MLB.com.

Cortes tossed a 20-pitch simulated game last Sunday, and he proclaimed himself to be "totally pain free" afterward. The southpaw then threw a live batting practice session Thursday and again emerged without any issues, so he appears to be just about past the shoulder strain that has kept him out of game action since May 30. If all goes well over the remainder of Cortes' rehab, he'll likely rejoin the Yankees' rotation during the first week of August.

Bassitt will start Saturday against Arizona after Kevin Gausman was scratched with left side discomfort, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

Bassitt had followed Gausman in the rotation prior to the break and had been set to start Sunday, but he'll be needed one day ahead of schedule due to Gausman's day-to-day injury. While Bassitt will be starting one day earlier than planned, he'll be pitching on extra rest due to the All-Star break, having last pitched Sunday against Detroit.

Gausman was scratched from his scheduled start Saturday against the Diamondbacks due to left side discomfort, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

Gausman has been one of the best starters in the league this season, recording a 3.03 ERA and a career-high 32.6 percent strikeout rate in 19 starts prior to the break. Losing him for an extended period would be a big blow, but for now, the issue appears relatively minor. An MRI showed nothing of concern, so the righty is merely considered day-to-day for now. Toronto has an off day Monday, so it's possible Gausman can skip just one start and avoid the injured list. Chris Bassitt will take the hill Saturday.

Berrios didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 7-2 win over the Diamondbacks, allowing one run on seven hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out four.

He tossed 61 of 90 pitches for strikes before exiting with a 2-1 lead, but Arizona tied it up in the seventh to cost the right-hander his ninth win. Berrios has been outstanding over his last 10 starts, posting a 2.37 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 53:18 K:BB through 60.2 innings, and if he stays on turn his next outing would come at home next week against the Padres.

Kremer (10-4) picked up the win Friday, allowing one run on two hits and two walks over six innings in a 5-2 victory over the Marlins. He struck out eight.

The right-hander generated 30 called or swinging strikes among his 97 pitches en route to his ninth quality start of the year. Kremer has had some issues keeping the ball in the park lately, but that's been the only thing standing between him and a true breakout. In eight starts since the beginning of June he's posted a 4.60 ERA and 2.2 HR/9, but also a 1.18 WHIP and 52:10 K:BB through 45 innings. He lines up for a tough test in his next outing, which is likely to come at home next week against the Dodgers.

Castillo (6-7) took the loss Friday, allowing three runs on four hits over five innings against the Tigers. He struck out five.

Castillo is unlucky to have a losing record this year, as he's posted some of the best pitching stats in the league so far this year. The right-hander's 1.03 WHIP ranks sixth in MLB and would be a career-best mark if the season ended today. The veteran's next start is tentatively slated to be against the Twins on Wednesday.
