Rodriguez did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks over 5.2 innings against Tampa Bay. He struck out six.

After giving up four runs in his first start since being recalled by the Orioles, Rodriguez shut down the Rays, allowing three hits while falling just one out short of his first quality start of 2023. Prior to being sent down to the minors, Rodriguez had surrendered 18 runs over four starts (17.2 innings). However, with Cole Irvin shifting to the bullpen, it's likely Rodriguez will stick around in Baltimore's rotation.

McClanahan did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing five runs on five hits and three walks over four innings against Baltimore. He struck out five.

All of the damage against McClanahan came in the fourth frame, as he surrendered five hits, including back-to-back-to-back doubles, as part of a five-run inning for Baltimore. The rough frame was enough for Rays' manager Kevin Cash to pull McClanahan, marking the third time in his last four starts not reaching the fifth inning. Saturday's outing also set a season high in runs allowed. After a dominant start to 2023, McClanahan has struggled mightily over the last month, posting a 7.02 ERA and a 15:8 K:BB in his last four outings (16.2 innings).

Singer did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk over six innings against the Yankees. He struck out nine.

Singer got himself into trouble right out of the gate, walking Billy McKinney to lead off the bottom of the first and then giving up an infield single to Gleyber Torres in the following at-bat. The right-hander would allow only one run in the inning and another run in the third before finishing with a season-high nine strikeouts on the afternoon. He's now allowed two or fewer runs in three of his last five starts and has not issued more than one free pass in three straight.

Cole did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk over 6.1 innings against the Royals. He struck out 10.

Cole went 1-2-3 through the first two innings before surrendering a leadoff homer to Nick Pratto to lead off the third. The right-hander then struck out the side to close out the frame and managed to record double-digit strikeouts for the fourth time this season prior to being relieved by Wandy Peralta in the seventh. Cole has now logged three consecutive quality starts, striking out 21 batters over that stretch to only three walks.

Faedo will be recalled to start Sunday's game against San Diego, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Faedo has struggled to a 6.98 ERA in six big-league starts this season, though his ERA estimators -- in particular his 3.92 SIERA -- tell a different story. His combination of an average strikeout rate (23.0 percent) and an excellent walk rate (3.3 percent) should in theory lead to better results in the future, though it's unclear whether he'll get the chance to remain in the rotation for more than one start.

Ryu (elbow) will join the Blue Jays in Los Angeles on Monday and could be activated from the 60-day injured list to make a start at some point during the team's series with the Dodgers, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Nearing the finish line in his recovery from June 2022 Tommy John surgery, Ryu looked good while building up to six innings in his fourth rehab start Friday with Triple-A Buffalo, and his next-day recovery has gone well. The date for Ryu's return to Toronto's rotation hasn't been officially set, as the team wants to get an in-person look at him first. The left-hander's season debut for the Blue Jays is expected at some point next week, if it doesn't come in Los Angeles. He would be available on regular four days' rest Wednesday against the Dodgers.

Bradish (6-5) took the loss Friday, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk over six innings in a 3-0 loss against the Rays. He struck out five.

Bradish notched his fifth straight quality start, but he still took the loss as Baltimore's offense couldn't muster any run support against Zach Eflin and Tampa Bay's pitching staff. Over his last seven starts, Bradish has posted a 1.62 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 41:9 K:BB across 44.1 innings, but he holds just a 4-3 record in that span. The 26-year-old is arguably in the best stretch of his MLB career thus far, but the peripherals suggest he should be stacking up more wins than he has. Either way, Bradish will look to stay sharp during his next start, which is tentatively scheduled for a matchup in Philadelphia.

Eflin (11-5) earned the win Friday, allowing two hits and one walk over seven scoreless innings against the Orioles. He struck out eight.

Eflin tossed seven scoreless frames for just the second time this year en route to his 11th win, tying his career-best mark from 2018. It was a major bounce-back performance for the right-hander, who was roughed up for five runs over three innings against the Royals in his last start. Eflin has been as advertised in his first season with Tampa Bay, posting a 3.36 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 113:16 K:BB across 19 appearances (112.1 innings). His next start is lined up for a home matchup versus the Marlins.

Williams didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 6-5 win over the Phillies, allowing one run on five hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out three.

The rookie right-hander got handed an early lead but couldn't pitch efficiently enough to qualify for the win, getting the hook after 81 pitches (42 strikes). Williams has issued eight free passes in nine innings over two starts since the All-Star break, a disturbing trend after he walked seven in 24.2 innings over his first four big-league outings, but his spot in the Guardians' injury-depleted rotation should be secure for now. He'll look for a better result in his next start, likely to come at home next week against the Royals.

Olson (1-4) took the loss Friday, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings in a 5-4 loss against San Diego. He struck out five.

Three of the five runs Olson allowed were the result of Juan Soto home runs, but the right-hander was able to settle down and toss two scoreless frames before getting replaced. The lack of run support has been a trend for Olson, who's made back-to-back starts following the All-Star break. During those outings, he's allowed seven runs on 13 hits and two walks while posting 10 strikeouts over 10.1 innings, but the Tigers haven't scored with him on the mound in either of those contests. Olson's spot at the back of Detroit's rotation is far from secure, but he figures to get at least one more look with Alex Faedo still at Triple-A Toledo.
