Sale (6-4) took the loss Saturday, allowing seven runs on six hits and two walks over four innings against Baltimore. He struck out five.

The veteran lefty was plagued by the long ball, serving up a three-run homer to Aaron Hicks in the second inning and a two-run shot to James McCann in the fourth. Sale had been solid in his previous five starts after returning from injury Aug. 11, posting a 4.18 ERA and 1.10 WHIP while looking like his old self in the strikeout department with 11.4 K/9 across 23.2 innings during that span. However, Saturday's poor effort raised the southpaw's season-long ERA to 4.88, the highest of his 13-year career. Sale will aim to regain his form in his next outing, tentatively scheduled against the Yankees at home next week.

Flaherty did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits and one walk over 3.1 innings against Boston. He struck out three.

The 27-year-old served up a two-run homer to Justin Turner in the first inning and coughed up two more earned runs in the fourth before exiting with one out in the frame. Flaherty hasn't completed six innings in any of his five starts since his Baltimore debut Aug. 3, posting an 0-2 record with an 8.73 ERA and 1.85 WHIP across 21.2 innings during that stretch. He currently lines up to take the hill at home against Tampa Bay next week.

Civale did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing four runs on four hits and three walks over five innings against the Mariners. He struck out three.

The right-hander struggled right out of the gate Saturday, loading the bases before recording any outs and surrendering three runs in the first frame followed by a solo shot fromJulio Rodriguez in the second. Civale then settled in, holding Seattle scoreless over his final three innings of work, and he avoided taking the loss thanks to Tampa Bay's late rally. The 28-year-old hadn't allowed more than three runs in any of his 12 starts since June 25, accumulating a 5-1 record with a 2.51 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and a solid 62:12 K:BB across 68 innings during that stretch. Civale currently lines up for a tough road matchup against the Orioles next week.

Severino will miss the remainder of the season after being diagnosed with a high-grade left oblique strain, Brendan Kuty of The Athletic reports.

Severino's season is over, and his time with the Yankees may be as well given the 29-year-old is an impending free agent. He did not have the walk year he envisioned, posting a 6.65 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 79:34 K:BB. Severino served up a career-high 23 home runs over just 89.1 innings of work.

Baz (elbow) is long tossing and throwing bullpens as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Baz underwent the procedure in late September of last year, but there's been no talk of him trying to return quickly enough to pitch in the playoffs. The fact that he's ramping up this far from spring training bodes well for his readiness for the start of next season, however.

Woo will start Tuesday against the Angels, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Woo had his previous turn in the rotation skipped, though he'll be called on just four days later, so it's perhaps more accurate to say that he'll merely be receiving a few extra days of rest. Woo has had his moments this season, but his ERA now sits at 4.50 after he allowed five runs in five innings against the Reds during his most recent start. Given that his 114 innings between the majors and minors this season far outpace the 57 he threw last season, it's reasonable to expect him to be handled cautiously down the stretch.

Urena's contract was selected as expected Saturday ahead of his scheduled start against the Tigers.

Urena opened the year in the Rockies' rotation but didn't last a month before being designated for assignment, having posted a 9.82 ERA and 9:14 K:BB across five starts. He spent most of the middle part of the season pitching for Triple-A Rochester in the Nationals system, where he struggled to a 6.31 ERA. He could remain in Chicago's rotation the rest of the year with Michael Kopech moving to the bullpen, but he's unlikely to be a usable option in many fantasy leagues.

Keller (shoulder) was reinstated off the 60-day injured list Saturday.

Keller recorded a 4.36 ERA in nine starts before suffering a shoulder injury in mid-May, though his combination of a 15.4 percent strikeout rate and a 19.9 percent walk rate portends worse results. He's worked as a reliever while on his rehab assignment, posting a 6.10 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in 10.1 innings, and figures to step into a low-leverage relief role over the final few weeks given that he isn't stretched out to start.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone has mentioned Vasquez and Jhony Brito as possible replacements for Luis Severino (side) in the team's rotation, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Severino exited Friday's game against the Brewers with a left side injury, and he was placed on the 15-day IL on Saturday. That means New York now has a rotation spot to fill, and rookies Vasquez and Brito appear to be the leading candidates for the role. Vasquez has posted a solid 2.35 ERA and 1.16 WHIP over 26.2 innings this season, though his 22:13 K:BB isn't ideal. He's pitched twice in relief since being recalled from the minors Sept. 1 but was mostly used as a starter during earlier stints with the Yankees this season.

Brito is a candidate to replace the injured Luis Severino (side) in the Yankees' rotation, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Severino was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday after leaving Friday's start early due to an injury to his left side. Brito took over for him in the fifth frame, allowing a run on three hits and a walk while striking out three batters over 2.1 innings. Though the rookie right-hander has been coming out of the bullpen of late, 13 of his 20 big-league outings have been as a starter, and he's compiled a 4.83 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 57:26 K:BB over 76.1 innings overall. Yankees manager Aaron Boone indicated that Brito and Randy Vasquez are both in the running to take Severino's spot in the rotation moving forward.
