The Twins recalled Adams from Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.

Adams has tallied a 3.43 ERA and a 37:10 K:BB over 42 innings mainly as a bulk reliever with St. Paul, and he'll join the big-league club Friday. With Pablo Lopez (shoulder) on the IL and David Festa having a bumpy return to the majors Thursday, there's a path for Adams to make some starts for the Twins, though he'll initially pitch out of the bullpen. Kody Funderburk was optioned to St. Paul in a corresponding move.

The Marlins recalled Veneziano from Triple-A Jacksonville on Friday.

The left-hander was demoted to Jacksonville in mid-May after posting a 4.86 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 15:8 K:BB in his first 20 appearances of the season. Veneziano will rejoin the Marlins on Friday with Jesus Tinoco (forearm) landing on the injured list.

The Marlins placed Tinoco on the 15-day injured list Friday with a right forearm strain.

Tinoco didn't strike out a single batted over his last five appearances and had been deployed in low-leverage situations lately, so it's possible he's been hurt for a while. Per Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com, an MRI on Tinoco's forearm didn't reveal any structural damage, but it's not clear how long he might be shelved.

Lauer is expected to pitch in bulk relief behind opener Paxton Schultz on Friday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Lauer has tossed 7.1 scoreless frames in his past two outings and is set to follow the rookie Schultz for a second consecutive appearance. The veteran left-hander has pitched well as a fill-in rotation piece for Toronto so far this season with a 2.28 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 22:8 K:BB across 23.2 innings.

Schultz will be the Blue Jays' opening pitcher for Friday's contest in Minnesota.

Eric Lauer is expected to follow Schultz in a bulk relief role. Schultz is stretched out as a long reliever, but he'll be on two days' rest Friday, so his appearance figures to be relatively brief.

Barriera (elbow) has been sent to the rookie-level Florida Complex League Blue Jays to begin a rehab assignment, Mitch Bannon of The Athletic reports.

Barriera is finally ready to pitch in games again after undergoing a hybrid Tommy John/internal brace procedure on his left elbow last April. The 2022 first-round pick has thrown only 21.2 innings in pro ball due to arm problems and will likely be assigned to Single-A Dunedin once he's been built up in the FCL.

The Rangers are expected to recall Curvelo from Triple-A Round Rock prior to Friday's game against the Nationals, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Curvelo has put up a 1.64 ERA and 25:7 K:BB over 22 innings with Round Rock this season and will be making his major-league debut when he gets into a game. It's not clear what the corresponding roster move will be.

Scott surrendered a hit but recorded two strikeouts in the ninth inning to pick up the save during Thursday's 6-5 win over the Mets.

After his closer status was put into question following a rocky outing Monday, Scott has posted back-to-back scoreless appearances. Right back in a save situation Friday, he needed 21 pitches to finish off his 11th save, but he posted two more strikeouts to make it 31 on the season, for a K/9 rate of 10.1. The 30-year-old southpaw is now 11-for-16 on save opportunities for the season.

The Twins intend to promote Adams to the majors Friday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

The Twins' pitching staff is shorthanded in the absence of Pablo Lopez (shoulder), and David Festa was crushed filling in for a start Thursday. Meanwhile, Adams is another of the team's top pitching prospects and has turned in a 37:10 K:BB across 42 innings with Triple-A St. Paul this season while working in a bulk-relief role. That usage suggests Adams will begin his big-league career in the bullpen, but it wouldn't take him long to stretch back out to pitch as a traditional starter.

Garcia (1-3) allowed three runs on four hits and a walk over two-thirds of an inning, taking the loss and a blown save in Thursday's 4-3 defeat versus the Rays.

Garcia may have been rusty, as he had not pitched since May 28 versus the Blue Jays. This was his first blown save since appearing to take over the closer role in late May, but he has allowed six runs over his his last 5.1 innings. The 28-year-old is at a 3.28 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 23:9 K:BB while adding three saves, 10 holds and two blown saves over 24.2 innings this season. The Rangers' bullpen situation continues to be somewhat fluid, so Garcia is unlikely to suddenly lose all of his high-leverage work, but he'll need to regain his footing soon to be a long-term option in the ninth inning.
