The White Sox activated Altavilla (lat) from the 15-day injured list Friday.

Altavilla was sidelined for just over a month with a right lat strain but is ready to go after making four rehab appearances with Triple-A Charlotte. The veteran righty had been seeing some high-leverage usage before getting hurt but could be eased back into such situations.

The Pirates optioned Sanders to Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.

Sanders will return to the Triple-A level as Kyle Nicolas returns from the bereavement list. Sanders has allowed five runs in five innings over five appearances with the Pirates this season, though all five of his earned runs came in one outing.

The Pirates activated Nicolas from the bereavement list Friday.

Nicolas has rejoined the team after taking a temporary leave. Pittsburgh optioned Cam Sanders to Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move. Nicolas has a 5.14 ERA in 28 innings out of the bullpen with the Pirates this season.

The Brewers recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Nashville.

The 23-year-old will join the big-league club for the first time since Aug. 24, with Nick Mears (back) headed for the IL. Rodriguez has a 3.86 ERA in 67.2 innings with Nashville, but he's yielded seven runs and a 5:6 K:BB across 6.1 innings with the Brewers.

The Brewers placed Mears on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to Sept. 2, due to back tightness.

Mears hasn't pitched since he allowed three runs in one inning against the Phillies on Monday, and it's now known he's been dealing with a back injury. The 28-year-old joins Trevor Megill (elbow), Grant Anderson (ankle) and DL Hall (oblique) as Brewers relievers on the 15-day injured list. Milwaukee recalled Carlos Rodriguez from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move.

Suero reported to the Mets on Friday.

Suero was claimed off waivers by the Mets from Atlanta on Thursday, and he'll report to the big-league club ahead of Friday's game against Cincinnati. Suero logged a 1.35 ERA and a 59:13 K:BB across 46.2 innings of relief with Atlanta's Triple-A affiliate before being DFA'd earlier this week.

The Twins outrighted Davis to Triple-A St. Paul on Friday.

The transaction clears 26-man and 40-man roster spots for the return of Pablo Lopez (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list. Davis has surrendered a whopping 24 runs (22 earned) over 11 innings at the big-league level this season between the Dodgers and Twins.

Fairbanks allowed two earned runs on two hits and struck out one across one inning Thursday against the Guardians.

Fairbanks entered the game in the ninth inning with a four-run lead and gave up home runs to the first two batters he faced. He settled in to help the Rays secure the win, but his performance has been a mixed bag lately. Fairbanks has an impressive 23:0 K:BB across his last 16.1 innings, but he's allowed six home runs (3.3 HR/9) in that span.

Seymour will work as a bulk reliever behind opening pitcher Grffin Jax in Friday's game against the Guardians, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Seymour worked as a multi-inning reliever to begin his major-league tenure but has made traditional starts in both of his last two appearances. He'll likely take over in the second or third inning of Friday's game once Jax exits the contest and will be the Rays pitcher most likely to factor into any decision. As a traditional starter, Seymour has allowed one earned run with a 16:2 K:BB across 10 innings.

Romano (finger) threw a bullpen session Thursday, MLB.com reports.

After playing long toss Wednesday, Romano is continuing his throwing progression amid his recovery from right middle finger inflammation. The 32-year-old right-hander expects to pitch again this season, though Romano has a calamitous 8.23 ERA for the year and will likely work low-leverage situations if he returns in 2025.
