  • Roddery Munoz RP | HOU

Cardinals' Roddery Munoz: Recalled from Triple-A

The Cardinals recalled Munoz from Triple-A Memphis on Friday.

Munoz made three appearances with St. Louis earlier this season, allowing three runs with a 4:1 K:BB over 2.2 innings. The right-hander will give manager Oliver Marmol a fresh bullpen arm.

  • Chris Roycroft RP | STL

Cardinals' Chris Roycroft: Back with big club

The Cardinals recalled Roycroft from Triple-A Memphis on Friday.

Roycroft was sent down last month after allowing seven runs (five earned) on six hits and six walks over 5.2 innings. He seemed to get back on track at Memphis, permitting two runs with a 6:2 K:BB across six frames.

  • Riley O'Brien RP | STL

Cardinals' Riley O'Brien: Optioned to Triple-A

The Cardinals optioned O'Brien to Triple-A Memphis on Friday.

He's being replaced by a fresh relief arm after throwing 34 pitches over 1.2 frames Thursday versus the Reds. O'Brien will get another opportunity later this season.

  • Matt Svanson P | STL

Cardinals' Matt Svanson: Heads back to Triple-A

The Cardinals optioned Svanson to Triple-A Memphis on Friday.

Svanson wasn't going to be available for a day or two after throwing two innings and 44 pitches in a relief appearance Thursday in Cincinnati, so he's being replaced with a fresh bullpen arm. Roddery Munoz and Chris Roycroft have been added to the St. Louis relief corps.

  • Pirates' Hunter Stratton: Sent down to minors

The Pirates optioned Stratton to Triple-A Indianapolis on Friday.

Stratton had been called up earlier this week and made two appearances, allowing a total of four runs over 1.2 innings. Utility player Liover Peguero is taking his spot on the roster.

  • Tyler Rogers RP | TOR

Giants' Tyler Rogers: Logs first loss of 2025

Rogers (2-1) took the loss and picked up a blown save in Thursday's 4-3 defeat to the Rockies. He allowed two earned runs on three hits across one inning.

Rogers entered the game in the eighth inning and was tasked with protecting a 3-2 lead. However, the right-hander surrendered a double and two singles, allowing multiple runs for the first time during the 2025 campaign. The 34-year-old reliever has given up just three runs all season, recording a 1.65 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and a 14:3 K:BB across 16.1 innings in 17 appearances.

  • Paul Sewald RP | ARI

Guardians' Paul Sewald: No timeline for return

Guardians manager Stephen Vogt said Thursday that Sewald's recovery from a shoulder strain is "going to be a while," MLB.com reports.

That sounds like Sewald will require more than the 15-day minimum. He was lifted from a game earlier this week after facing two batters. Sewald had a good start to the season but had a troublesome five-game stretch (12.27 ERA) leading up to his placement on the IL.

  • Reds' Graham Ashcraft: Throws three perfect innings

Ashcraft (2-2) struck out four over three hitless and scoreless innings to earn the win over the Cardinals on Thursday.

A rain delay limited starter Andrew Abbott to four innings, prompting the need for Ashcraft to work multiple frames. Ashcraft retired all nine batters he faced, extending his streak to 13 straight batters that have failed to reach base against him, including eight retired via strikeout. He's handled the transition from starter to reliever with aplomb, posting a 0.57 ERA over 15.2 innings.

  • Ryan Thompson RP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ryan Thompson: Earns hold in win

Thompson allowed one hit and struck out two over a scoreless seventh inning in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Mets.

Thompson picked up his fourth hold, serving as the first of three relievers to preserve the lead after starter Zac Gallen went six strong innings. In the wake of injuries to Arizona's co-closers A.J. Puk (elbow) and Justin Martinez (shoulder), Thompson will be part of the setup crew and could possibly get save chances. On Thursday, Thompson was followed by Kevin Ginkel in the eighth and Shelby Miller for the save in the ninth.

  • Ben Joyce RP | LAA

Angels' Ben Joyce: Making slow progress in rehab

Angels manager Ron Washington described Joyce as "moving along, slowly" in his recovery from right shoulder inflammation, per MLB.com.

Joyce has been on the injured list since April 11 due to the shoulder injury. Though the right-hander is technically eligible to be activated, it doesn't appear that he's close to a return. Joyce put up a 6.23 ERA and 1.38 WHIP over 4.1 innings prior to getting hurt, but all three of the runs he allowed came in his final appearance before landing on the IL, and he notably experienced diminished velocity in that outing.
