  • David Bednar RP | NYY

Pirates' David Bednar: Records 19th save

Bednar picked up the save with a scoreless inning in Sunday's 7-5 victory over the Cardinals. He allowed one hit and one walk with one strikeout.

Bednar worked around a double and a walk to record a scoreless inning and earn his 19th save of the season. In four outings since returning from the injured list Sept. 22, Bednar has allowed one run over four innings with six strikeouts and two saves. He owns a 2.66 ERA and 1.13 WHIP through 50.2 innings this season.

  • Dylan Floro RP | ARI

Marlins' Dylan Floro: Blows fourth save Sunday

Floro blew the save Sunday in Milwaukee, allowing a run on two hits and a walk while striking out one in 1.1 innings in a 4-3 extra-innings win. He did not factor into the decision.

Floro entered the game with Miami leading 3-2 in the eighth inning with two outs and a runner on third and struck out Willy Adames to end the frame. In the ninth, he gave up a one-out double and an RBI single to even the score 3-3. Floro had converted his last four save opportunities and had not allowed an earned run in his last seven appearances before Sunday's misstep. While Tanner Scott came on in the 12th and converted the save, Floro will likely still receive any remaining save chances.

  • Emmanuel Clase RP | CLE

Guardians' Emmanuel Clase: Notches 41st save

Clase earned the save Sunday against Kansas City, striking out two batters in a perfect ninth inning in a 7-5 win.

Clase threw 10 of his 12 pitches for strikes as he retired the middle of the Royals' lineup in order. He is now 41-for-45 in save chances this season and has converted his last five chances. The 24-year-old has been consistently dominant throughout the season and has a 1.35 ERA in the second half after compiling a 1.41 ERA before the Midsummer Classic.

  • Blake Treinen RP | LAD

Dodgers' Blake Treinen: Bullpen session set

Treinen (shoulder) played catch off a mound Sunday and is slated to threw a full bullpen session Monday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Treinen returned from the injured list in early September but went back to the injured list after only two outings, and he's beginning to ramp up his throwing program. It remains to be seen if the veteran right-hander will have enough time to be game ready for the start of the NLDS on Oct. 11.

  • Ron Marinaccio RP | CIN

Yankees' Ron Marinaccio: Departs with shin soreness

Marinaccio was removed from Sunday's game against the Orioles due to shin soreness, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Marinaccio didn't allow any baserunners while recording three outings between the seventh and eighth innings, but he was dealing with a shin injury that prompted his removal with one out in the top of the eighth inning. Manager Aaron Boone didn't sound too concerned about the issue after the game, so Marinaccio should be considered day-to-day for now.

  • Rafael Montero RP | NYY

Astros' Rafael Montero: Works out of trouble to earn save

Montero picked up the save with a scoreless ninth inning against the Rays on Sunday. He allowed one hit and two walks while striking out one.

After getting the first batter to fly out to start the ninth inning, Montero allowed three of the next four batters to reach base and enable the go-ahead run to step up to the plate with two outs. All ended well, however, as he got Taylor Walls to ground out to second base to end the game and record his 14th save of the season. Over his last 10 appearances dating back to Sept. 9, Montero has allowed two earned runs over 10 innings with two saves and four holds.

  • Yankees' Wandy Peralta: Won't return this week

Peralta (back) won't travel with the Yankees on Monday for the final series of the regular season at Texas, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

The 31-year-old will continue his rehab at Somerset and could throw a live bullpen session this week. Peralta has been a key bullpen piece with a 2.72 ERA in 56 appearances for New York this year, and it appears he could be available for the start of the ALDS, which begins Oct. 11.

  • Royals' Max Castillo: Shelled in loss

Castillo (0-2) took the loss Sunday in Cleveland, allowing seven runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out five in five innings.

Six of the seven runs against Castillo came in the second inning as the Guardians sent nine batters to the plate and Will Brennan and Josh Naylor each launched three-run homers. Castillo figured it out after that and retired the final 10 batters he faced, but at that point the damage had already been done. The 23-year-old was acquired from the Blue Jays before the trade deadline and has struggled mightily for the Royals, compiling a 9.16 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and 17:10 K:BB in 18.2 innings across five appearances.

  • Jordan Romano RP | COL

Blue Jays' Jordan Romano: Records 36th save

Romano earned the save Sunday against Boston, striking out one in the ninth inning of a 6-3 victory.

One hitter reached on a throwing error by Vladimir Guerrero, but Romano otherwise handled the Red Sox, inducing weak contact and striking out a batter. It was his 36th save in 42 opportunities and first since Sept. 24. The 29-year-old has not allowed a run in his last five outings spanning 5.1 innings, striking out five hitters, hitting one batter and giving up two hits during that stretch.

  • Luis Ortiz RP | NYM

Giants' Luis Ortiz: Back in majors

Ortiz was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Ortiz will rejoin the Giants on Sunday after he spent the past couple weeks in the minors. The 26-year-old has allowed one earned run with a 3:2 K:BB across 6.1 big-league innings this year.
