Romero (4-1) earned the extra-inning win Tuesday over the Padres, allowing two hits while striking out three and walking none over two scoreless innings.

Romero kept the game tied at 5-5 in the ninth and 10th innings before Tommy Edman's walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th. In August, Romero has gone more than one inning in six of his 10 appearances, allowing four runs over 14.1 frames with a 20:1 K:BB. He's earned a high-leverage role as the Cardinals' top left-handed reliever. Romero has a 3.34 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, 40:9 K:BB, three saves and three holds over 35 innings this season.

May allowed two hits and struck out three over a scoreless inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Mariners.

May has generated a scoreless outing in 12 of his last 14 appearances, including each of his last five. Tuesday's effort was a bit of a shaky one, but he was able to strike out Eugenio Suarez with runners on second and third to escape a jam. May is now 15-for-18 in save chances this season while posting a 4.14 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 32:26 K:BB over 37 innings.

Weaver (2-5) allowed three runs on seven hits over 3.2 innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Athletics. He did not strike out or walk a batter.

Weaver got the nod on short notice after George Kirby (illness) was scratched from Tuesday's start. The Mariners' offense was rather listless, accumulating four hits and six walks but generating just one run in support of Weaver in his third appearance and first start with the team. In 2023, the right-hander has a 6.77 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 90:34 K:BB over 103.2 innings between the Mariners and the Reds. Barring any other issues with Seattle's usual starters, Weaver will likely return to a long-relief role going forward.

Thompson did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and four walks over four innings against San Diego. He struck out three.

Thompson's final line certainly could've been worse, as he was charged with just two earned runs despite allowing nine Padres to reach base over four innings. The 25-year-old southpaw hasn't allowed more than two earned runs through five starts since rejoining St. Louis' rotation, though he's yet to pitch more than five innings. Overall, he's 3-5 with a 3.92 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 47:18 K:BB across 39 innings this season. Thompson's currently in line for a tough road matchup with Atlanta in his next start.

Clase picked up the save Tuesday against the Twins despite allowing a run on one hit in the ninth inning.

Clase would give up a solo homer to Michael Taylor before rebounding to record the final two outs, closing out a 4-2 Cleveland win. The home run marked the first earned run Clase's surrendered in his last six appearances (6.2 innings). He's now up to 35 saves, tied for most in the league, with a 3.00 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 56:14 K:BB across 60 innings this season.

Leiter pitched a scoreless inning of relief in Tuesday's 1-0 win over the Brewers. He struck out one.

Leiter worked the seventh following six scoreless innings from starter Justin Steele, and the righty needed just 10 pitches to set Milwaukee down in order. Adbert Alzolay has emerged as Chicago's closer with 22 saves in 23 chances this season, but Leiter has been an effective setup man, as he now has a team-high 25 holds to go along with a strong 2.70 ERA. If the Cubs want to catch the Brewers in the NL Central, they'll need big contributions from both relievers down the stretch.

Alzolay retired all three batters he faced to record the save in Tuesday's 1-0 win over the Brewers. He struck out one.

Alzolay was dominant as he shut down Milwaukee on 11 pitches, giving the Cubs an important win against the division-leading Brewers. The righty now has 22 saves in 23 chances this season, and he's converted his last 18 opportunities in a row. After working mostly as a starter earlier in his career, Alzolay has developed into an outstanding reliever, and he could be settling in as Chicago's closer for the foreseeable future given his strong play this year.

Reyes will be called up from Triple-A Syracuse to start Wednesday's game against the Rangers, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

Reyes hasn't enjoyed much success in the majors or minors this season. He holds a 5.80 ERA and 1.42 WHIP through 76 frames with Syracuse, and he's surrendered 10 runs through 12 innings in the big leagues. Nonetheless, he'll come up from Triple-A to give the Mets a few innings Wednesday, but fantasy managers should temper their expectations for the 26-year-old righty.

Weaver will start Tuesday's game against the Athletics, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

George Kirby was originally slated to start Tuesday's contest but was scratched due to an illness, allowing Weaver to make his first start as a Mariner. Weaver accumulated a 6.87 ERA and 1.64 WHIP through 97 innings as a starter with Cincinnati, but he's been much more effective since signing with Seattle last week.

The Angels placed Leone on waivers Tuesday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Leone put up a 5.25 ERA and 1.83 WHIP across 12 innings since being acquired from the Mets at the trade deadline, and he'll now join five other Angels on the waiver wire as the team attempts to cut salary. Any team in search of bullpen depth will be able to simply claim the 31-year-old righty off waivers and add him to their active roster.
