Wesneski (1-0) tossed four scoreless innings of relief to earn the win Wednesday against the Diamondbacks. He allowed just one hit and struck out two.

Wesneski was summoned from Triple-A Iowa earlier in the day, and he quickly made an impact. The righty pitched well for Iowa, posting a 2.53 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over 10.2 innings, and he has a chance to fill a long-relief role with the Cubs moving forward. Wesneski will have limited fantasy value unless he's able to enter the rotation at some point, which doesn't seem to be imminent.

Stephenson will miss the entire 2024 season due to an elbow injury, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports,

The Angels will announce more details regarding Stephenson's injury Thursday, but his elbow issue is apparently significant enough to rule him out for the remainder of the year. The 31-year-old righty had been on a rehab assignment at Triple-A Salt Lake but was removed from his appearance Saturday after facing just one batter.

Alvarado picked up the save Wednesday, allowing one hit and no walks with one strikeout over a scoreless inning against Colorado.

After keeping the Rockies off the scoreboard in the ninth inning Wednesday, Alvarado has now turned in eight straight scoreless appearances (7.2 innings) since his nightmare five-run 2024 debut. While it'll still take some time to get Alvarado's ERA down to an acceptable number, fantasy managers can take solace in knowing that Alvarado has looked like himself since turning the page on his March 29 outing.

Bernardino will serve as Boston's opening pitcher for Thursday's game against the Guardians, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Bernardino has allowed just one run across 5.1 innings to begin the season. His outing Thursday will likely only last an inning or two, after which Cooper Criswell is expected to pitch the bulk of the innings.

The White Sox returned Shuster to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.

Shuster did not make an appearance during Wednesday's doubleheader against Kansas City, and he'll now head back to the minors after being promoted as the 27th man. The 25-year-old lefty owns a 1.42 ERA through 6.1 big-league innings this season but has run into trouble since being demoted to Charlotte.

Finnegan earned the save in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Dodgers, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.

Finnegan's now gone seven straight appearances (6.2 innings) without allowing an earned run. He's up to seven saves on the year, tying Ryan Helsley and Clay Holmes for the league lead. The 32-year-old Finnegan lowered his ERA to 3.24 with a 1.32 WHIP and 8:5 K:BB through his first 8.1 innings this season.

The Pirates optioned Hernandez to Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday.

Hernandez has allowed one earned run across 4.2 innings this season, but he will now return to the minors to free up a spot in Pittsburgh's bullpen. It's unclear who will come up from Triple-A to fill the left-hander's spot, but the team will announce a corresponding move Friday.

Gilbreath (elbow) pitched in a simulated game Tuesday, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.

Gilbreath, who is on the mend from March 2023 Tommy John surgery, said he felt good following Tuesday's outing, so the Rockies are tentatively having him pitch in a controlled setting once again Friday. If all goes well Friday, Gilbreath could head out on a minor-league rehab assignment as soon as next week. During his last MLB season with Colorado in 2022, the lefty reliever compiled a 4.19 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 49:26 K:BB across 43 innings.

Green was unavailable for Wednesday's 6-4 loss to the Yankees due to shoulder soreness, but manager John Schneider hopes the right-hander will be good to go Friday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Green's pop-up injury hindered him from entering the game, where the Blue Jays could have used some relief help as they allowed five runs in four innings after starting pitcher Kevin Gausman exited. The veteran reliever could be ready to pitch Friday as Toronto takes on the Padres in San Diego.

The Astros optioned Whitley to Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Whitley will return to Triple-A just one day after being recalled for his MLB debut. He allowed one hit and one walk but did not surrender a run through two-thirds of an inning against Atlanta on Tuesday. The 26-year-old's departure opens a spot on the active roster that will presumably be given to Justin Verlander (shoulder) when he returns Friday.
