Clase earned the save Tuesday against the Red Sox, striking out three in a perfect ninth inning.

Called upon to protect a three-run lead in the ninth, Clase made quick work of the middle of Boston's order, striking out the side en route to his seventh save this year. Clase's allowed just one hit in his last four innings while logging seven strikeouts in that span. He lowered his ERA to 0.75 with a 0.92 WHIP and 13:1 K:BB across 12 innings this season.

Criswell will draw the start Wednesday against the Guardians, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports.

Criswell is set to make his second start of the season Wednesday, entering the contest with a 4.26 ERA and 1.58 WHIP with four strikeouts over 6.1 innings over two appearances in 2024. The right-hander pitched four innings and allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out four batters in his only start of the season, April 13 versus the Angels.

Bachman (shoulder) is dealing with mid-back spasms, causing his throwing progression to be put on hold, per MLB.com.

Bachman has been at the Angels' training facility in Arizona rehabbing from October's shoulder cleanup surgery. It was initially expected that the righty hurler would be ready to pitch by the start of spring training, but he's instead been progressing slowly and was placed on the 60-day IL in late March. Bachman could still be ready to return by the beginning of June if the back spasms don't halt his throwing progression for an extended period.

Nelson was placed on the 15-day injured list with left shoulder inflammation Tuesday.

Nelson will now be sidelined for at least a couple weeks while tending to inflammation in his pitching elbow, which is never good news for a hurler. The 27-year-old had been going through a rough stretch on the mound, surrendering five earned runs over 1.1 innings in his last three appearances. It's unclear if the left-hander's stretch of poor performances had anything to do with potential arm issues or not, but he'll now at least have an opportunity to mentally reset while on the shelf. In a corresponding move, Arizona recalled right-hander Justin Martinez from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

Martinez appeared in two games with the D-backs before being sent down to Triple-A on Sunday, throwing three scoreless innings while striking out two batters and walking four. He'll give Arizona additional depth in its bullpen as Kyle Nelson (shoulder) lands on the 15-day IL.

Quijada (elbow) is expected to throw a bullpen session Tuesday, per MLB.com.

The bullpen session will be a significant step for Quijada as he continues to work toward a return from the Tommy John surgery he underwent last May. The lefty hurler has been rehabbing at the Angels' training facility in Arizona and is on track to return to the big-league club's bullpen around midseason.

Stephenson (elbow) announced Tuesday that he is going to get Tommy John surgery April 30, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

It was announced Thursday that Stephenson would undergo season-ending surgery on his right elbow. The 31-year-old, who'd been dealing with a shoulder injury, had a rehab appearance for April 13, but he exited that outing with a sore elbow that was indicative of a much more troublesome issue. The righty joined the Angels on a three-year, $33 million contract in January, and it now appears he'll potentially have to wait until the latter portion of the 2025 season to have a chance at making his debut.

The Diamondbacks placed Castro on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to April 21, with right shoulder inflammation.

Castro will undergo an MRI on his right shoulder Wednesday, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports. The reliever was dealing with discomfort for a bit, but it seems to have gradually gotten worse. He surrendered two runs on four hits across one inning during his last appearance Saturday. The 29-year-old is eligible for activation May 6, a team off day before the start of a series against the Reds. In a corresponding move, Andrew Saalfrank was recalled from Triple-A Reno.

The left-hander missed out on Arizona's Opening Day roster but will join the big club Tuesday as Miguel Castro (shoulder) moves to the injured list. Saalfrank made his MLB debut with 10 relief appearances last season and didn't allow an earned run over 10.1 innings.

The Giants optioned Roupp to Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Roupp will be pushed off the big-league roster following the acquisition of Mitch White from Toronto. Roupp allowed five earned runs across 10.1 innings during his first career stint in the majors and could return later in the year to give San Francisco's bullpen a fresh arm if needed.
