Garrett Acton RP | TB
Rays' Garrett Acton: Booted from 40-man roster
The Rays designated Acton for assignment Monday.
Acton made one scoreless appearance for the Rays in 2025 but spent virtually all of his time at Triple-A Durham, where he held a 3.68 ERA and 71:27 K:BB over 58.2 frames. The 27-year-old is no longer on the 40-man roster but could stick around in the organization if he passes through waivers.

Jeff Hoffman RP | TOR
Blue Jays' Jeff Hoffman: Blows save in Game 7
Hoffman blew a save against the Dodgers in Game 7 of the World Series on Saturday, allowing one run on one hit while striking out two batters over 1.1 innings.
Hoffman entered in the eighth frame with the Blue Jays up 4-3. He got Tommy Edman to ground out to preserve the lead and then struck out the first batter he faced in the ninth, but Hoffman then served up a game-tying solo homer to Miguel Rojas. Over three World Series appearances, that long ball was the only run Hoffman yielded across 4.1 frames.

Lucas Gilbreath RP | COL
Lucas Gilbreath: Enters free agency
Gilbreath cleared waivers Friday and elected free agency, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.
Gilbreath spent the vast majority of his time this season pitching in Triple-A, turning in a 7.59 ERA and 1.80 WHIP across 42.2 innings at Albuquerque. Between his poor minor-league performance and the fact that he's pitched just two innings in the big leagues over the past two seasons, the 29-year-old southpaw will almost certainly have to settle for a minor-league contract during the offseason.

Dugan Darnell RP | COL
Pirates' Dugan Darnell: Claimed by Pirates
The Pirates claimed Darnell (hip) off waivers from the Rockies on Friday and placed him on the 60-day injured list, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.
Darnell posted a 3.86 ERA and 1.46 WHIP in the majors this year across 11.2 innings, though his season was cut short in late August by a torn labrum in his left hip. Now in the Pirates organization, the 28-year-old righty will be entering a more pitcher-friendly environment compared to Colorado. However, he'll still likely be limited to middle-relief duties in Pittsburgh.

Rico Garcia RP | BAL
Orioles' Rico Garcia: Re-signs with Orioles
The Orioles re-signed Garcia to a one-year contract Thursday.
Garcia pitched for three different teams during the 2025 season but finished out the year strongly with the Orioles, collecting a 2.84 ERA and 20:6 K:BB over 19 innings. The right-hander will turn 32 in January and should fill a middle-relief role in Baltimore next season.

Shinnosuke Ogasawara RP | WAS
Nationals' Shinnosuke Ogasawara: Pushed off 40-man roster
Ogasawara cleared waivers Wednesday and was sent outright to Triple-A Rochester.
Ogasawara struggled during his first season stateside, posting a 6.98 ERA and 1.55 WHIP alongside a 30:17 K:BB through 38.2 innings. He'll now lose his place on the 40-man roster heading into the offseason, though he may have a chance to reclaim his spot with a strong showing in spring training.

Mason Thompson RP | WAS
Mason Thompson: Enters free agency
Thompson (biceps) cleared waivers Wednesday and elected free agency.
Thompson appeared in 14 games for the Nationals this year, giving up 14 earned runs over just 10.2 innings. He ended the regular season on the injured list due to biceps tendinitis, though he is expected to be fully recovered by the time spring training begins. His next gig will likely come in the form of a minor-league contract.

Eduardo Salazar RP | WAS
Eduardo Salazar: Becomes free agent
Salazar cleared waivers Wednesday and elected free agency.
Salazar was one of four players that the Nationals booted off their 40-man roster after the end of the regular season, and he will now begin the offseason looking for a new opportunity. The 27-year-old righty turned in an unsightly 8.38 ERA and 2.17 WHIP across 29 innings in the big leagues this season, so he will most likely have to settle for a minor-league pact.
