Rockies reliever Matt Belisle will be given a few days of rest in order to help him get back on track, MLB.com reports. Belisle is healthy but has been ineffective of late. The 33-year-old has posted a 13.50 ERA over 5 1/3 innings in September. 

Marlins pitcher Brad Hand (0-1) endured a rough outing and was pegged with the loss in his first career start Friday against the Mets. The left-hander was charged with four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four over 5 2/3 innings pitched in a 4-3 defeat.

Hand owns a 3.18 ERA and a 0.88 WHIP over his first 11 1/3 innings pitched. He is scheduled to make his next start Wednesday at Philadelphia.

Rockies pitcher Drew Pomeranz completed two innings in a simulated game Friday, according to the Denver Post. Pomeranz remains hopeful of returning at some point this season. He has been sidelined since July 22 with biceps tendinitis.

Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen broke a streak of 18 straight saves after coughing up the lead in the ninth against the Giants. The right-hander allowed a run-scoring single to Gregor Blanco in the ninth to tie the game.

It was Jansen's first blown save since June 29 against the Phillies. He is 25 of 29 in save opportunities with a 2.01 ERA and a 0.85 WHIP.

Cardinals starter Joe Kelly (8-4) took a step back as he suffered his fourth loss of the season Thursday night against the Brewers. The right-hander yielded four runs -- three earned -- on seven hits and one walk while striking out four over five innings of a 5-3 defeat.

Kelly has allowed eight earned runs combined over his last five starts (29 innings). He is scheduled to make his next start Tuesday at Colorado. He is 4-0 with a 2.02 ERA in 17 appearances (five starts).

Pirates closer Mark Melancon notched his 14th save of the season Thursday night against the Cubs. The right-hander worked his way around a base hit as he struck out one and tossed a scoreless frame to secure a 3-1 victory.

Melancon is 14 of 16 in save opportunities with a 1.10 ERA and a 0.90 WHIP.

The Diamondbacks want to bring back injured starting pitcher Daniel Hudson next season, the Arizona Republic reports.

Hudson has not and will not pitch this year due to multiple Tommy John surgeries. He is arbitration eligible for the first time in 2014, and so the Diamondbacks will likely have to get creative to keep him. The club could use a contract with incentives for games played or a multi-year deal to get it done. It's unclear at this point if Hudson will even be able to pitch in 2014 due to his recovery.

Cardinals starting pitcher Shelby Miller (13-9) turned in a dominant outing as he pitched his way into the seventh inning and earned the win Tuesday night against the Brewers. The right-hander fired 6 2/3 scoreless innings, giving up five hits while walking two and striking out four in a 4-2 win.

Miller has allowed three runs over his last 12 1/3 innings pitched. He is scheduled to make his next start Sunday at home against Seattle.

Pirates closer Mark Melancon nearly coughed up a three-run lead as he escaped with his 13th save of the season Tuesday night against the Rangers. The right-hander allowed run-scoring singles to Alex Rios and Ian Kinsler before closing out a 5-4 win. He allowed two runs on four hits and no walks while striking out three over one inning of work.

Melancon is 13 of 15 in save situations with a 1.12 ERA and a 0.90 WHIP.

Braves closer Craig Kimbrel entered Tuesday's game against the Marlins with a one-run lead in the ninth inning. The right-hander needed 11 pitches as he struck out two in a scoreless frame to secure a 4-3 victory and his 46th save.

Kimbrel is 46 of 49 in save chances with a 0.91 ERA and a 0.84 WHIP. He is one save away from a career-high mark.
