Braves closer Craig Kimbrel entered Tuesday's game against Milwaukee in the top of the ninth inning in a 2-2 tie.

Kimbrel struck out the side to keep the game tied and the Braves won it in the bottom of the frame. Kimbrel earned the win to improve to 4-3 on the year. He struck out the side on 15 pitches and his ERA is at 1.25.

Kimbrel has 49 saves for the Braves this season and leads the National League. He has struck out the side in his last two appearances and has 96 Ks over 65 innings on the year.

Brewers starter Wily Peralta will miss his final start of the season on Saturday because of a blister on his throwing hand, according to MLB.com on Tuesday. Jimmy Nelson will earn a spot start against the Mets in his place. He posted a 3.67 ERA in 15 starts (83 1/3 innings) at Triple-A Nashville this season.

Mets pitcher Josh Edgin has been moved from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day DL.

Edgin has been out since July 29 with a fracture in his rib. He has a 3.77 ERA in 28 2/3 innings. 

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Brewers pitching prospect Jimmy Nelson has an opportunity to make his first career major league start this week. Wily Peralta, who is dealing with a blister, may not be able to make his final scheduled start of the season on Saturday, so Nelson could get the call instead to face the Mets.

Nelson has made three relief appearances since his Sept. 3 callup, having allowed only one hit and no runs over five innings.

Reds closer Aroldis Chapman pitched the ninth inning in a game that saw Cincinnati win over the Mets in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the 10th. 

Chapman did not factor into the decision as he struck out the side to keep the game tied. He threw 17 pitches and 13 were strikes. His ERA is now at 2.59. 

The closer has gone 38 for 43 in save situations this season and has struck out 110 batters over just 62 2/3 innings. 

Carlos Torres was triumphant in his return to the Mets' rotation, as he struck out six batters in six innings in a 4-3 win over the Phillies on Sunday. In six of Torres' eight starts this season, including Sunday's victory, he has racked up at least five strikeouts and nine swinging strikes.

Torres did allow two runs on seven hits and three walks, though for the first time since Aug. 29, he did not allow a home run in a start. It was Torres' first start since Sept. 14. He is now 4-5 with a 3.36 ERA.

Cardinals starter Joe Kelly took his fifth loss Sunday against Milwaukee.

Kelly went seven innings and allowed six runs (three earned) on seven hits and two walks. He struck out just two. His ERA is still a sharp 2.81, and he has a strong case to make St. Louis's playoff rotation.

Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen picked up his 27th save Sunday against San Diego.

Jansen struck out the side to close the 1-0 victory. Jansen has an absurd 107 strikeouts in 74 2/3 innings this season.

Braves closer Craig Kimbrel picked up his 49th save in Sunday's game against the Cubs.

Kimbrel allowed a pair of hits but managed three strikeouts to work around the jam. His ERA sits at 1.27 as Kimbrel is once again proving to be the best closer in the National League.

Rockies pitcher Collin McHugh ran into trouble as he suffered his third loss of the season Saturday night against the Diamondbacks. The right-hander surrendered six runs on 11 hits and no walks while striking out one over five innings of a 7-2 defeat.

McHugh has allowed 13 runs over his last 15 innings pitched. He may have a chance to start Saturday if Jorge De La Rosa is not ready to return. If not, he'll be back in the bullpen for Colorado.
