Reds reveal September callups
The Reds announced their September callups on Monday. Before making the moves, the team transferred Homer Bailey to the 60-day disabled list, ending his season. The team called up Carlos Contreras, Daniel Corcino, Jake Elmore, David Holmberg, J.J. Hoover, Tucker Barnhart, Donald Lutz, Yorman Rodriguez, Jason Bourgeois and Ryan Dennick.

The Diamondbacks activated outfielder Cody Ross from the 15-day disabled list and pitcher Daniel Hudson from the 60-day disabled list prior to Monday's game against San Diego, the team announced.

Mets manager Terry Collins told reporters that pitcher Rafael Montero will likely make a start with the big-league club at some point this month, ESPN New York reports. Montero made six starts this season already with the Mets. He owns a 5.23 ERA over 32 2/3 innings of work in the majors.

The Brewers made a slew of moves prior to Monday's game against the Cubs. The team activated pitchers Matt Garza and Wei-Chung Wang from the disabled list. The team also recalled pitcher Jimmy Nelson, catcher Matt Pagnozzi and outfielder Logan Schafer from the minors.

Mets manager Terry Collins indicated that pitcher Josh Edgin could be "down for awhile," according to ESPN New York on Sunday. Edgin hasn't pitched since Aug. 23 due to bone spurs in his elbow.

Reds closer Aroldis Chapman struck out two and needed only 14 pitches to secure a perfect ninth inning for the save Sunday against the Pirates in Pittsburgh. He has converted 29 of 31 save chances, with a 2.44 ERA and a 0.86 WHIP over 44 1/3 innings of relief.

Marlins swap Brad Penny for Brad Hand in rotation
The Marlins will swap Brad Penny into the rotation in place of Brad Hand Tuesday against the Mets, the team announced Saturday.
Penny made two starts for the Marlins before he was moved to the bullpen. He has a 5.40 ERA in 13 1/3 innings overall, while Hand has dropped his last four decisions while his ERA has risen to 4.71 overall.

Daniel Hudson's return set for Tuesday or Wednesday
Diamondbacks pitcher Daniel Hudson will make his return to the majors Tuesday or Wednesday in San Diego, manager Kirk Gibson told reporters Saturday.
Hudson, who has not pitched in the majors since 2012, will come out of the bullpen after he is recalled when rosters expand. He will be working on a 25-30 pitch limit for the time being, and it is not clear if he is expected to start at any point in the season's final month.
