The Diamondbacks plan to have pitcher David Hernandez pitch at Double-A sometime over the weekend, manager Chip Hale said, according The Arizona Republic.

Hernandez is suffering from an elbow injury and he has not pitched for the Diamondbacks this season. He pitched a scoreless inning during a rehab assignment in Class A on Monday.

"He wont be back at least until after the weekend," Hale said to MLB.com. "I think that's something we talked about, but I don't think we do. I think we can do it up here if we had to after he had a few outings. I think we could give him every other day for a while until we're ready to do that."

Nationals reliever Blake Treinen appears to be putting his early season struggles behind him. After opening the season with a 6.00 ERA in his first 11 outings, Treinen has allowed just one run in his last five outings, lowering his ERA to 3.68.

Treinen also has 11 strikeouts in his last 10 innings, including a six-strikeout performance during a four-inning outing May 14 at San Diego.

"It's just being able to put the pitch where I want to, simplifying, not trying to make the best pitch, but make the pitch that's called and just execute location on it," Treinen said, per MASNsports.com. "The last couple of outings for me have been good evidence that it's working."

Padres closer Craig Kimbrel worked past another shaky outing for his 11th save of the season Tuesday night against the Cubs.

Kimbrel surrendered a solo home run to Chris Coghlan with two outs in the ninth inning. The right-hander was charged with a run on one hit and no walks while striking out two in an inning of work to secure a 4-3 victory.

Kimbrel has allowed four earned runs over his last four innings pitched, raising his ERA from 4.63 to 5.74 on the year.

Rockies closer John Axford needed 11 pitches to retire the side in order to close out a 6-5 victory over the Phillies at home on Tuesday. Axford has converted all five of his save chances, with a 1.13 ERA and 7:4 K:BB ratio over eight innings of relief this season.

Diamondbacks reliever Daniel Hudson earned his first win of the season, moving to 1-1 on Tuesday by beating Miami. 

Hudson started the seventh and pitched two scoreless innings, allowing one hit and striking out two. He cut his ERA to 5.29. 

Brewers pitcher Jimmy Nelson allowed one run on three hits in eight innings of work in Milwaukee's 8-1 win over the Tigers on Tuesday.

Nelson's lone run allowed came in the first inning when after Ian Kinsler walked, he advanced all the way to third after a stolen base and a throwing error. Kinsler then scored on a J.D. Martinez RBI single. Walker settled down after that, striking out five in his eight innings.

Nelson, now 2-4, lowered his ERA to 3.73 in 50 2/3 innings of work. He will look to keep things rolling Sunday against the Braves.

Mets pitcher Vic Black was able to pitch one inning during a rehab assignment in Class A on Tuesday, reports NJ.com.

Black struck out two batters during his one inning of work. He is on the 15-day DL with a shoulder/neck injury.

Diamondbacks pitcher Rubby De La Rosa allowed two runs on six hits in nine innings of work Arizona's 3-2 win over the Marlins in 13 innings, but did not factor into the decision.

De La Rosa's only blemish came in the seventh inning came when he surrendered a two-run home run to J.T. Realmuto. De La Rosa settled down after that and worked through the ninth inning, but his offense could not break the tie, leaving him with a no-decision.

De La Rosa, who remains 4-2, moved his ERA to 4.08 in 53 innings of work. He will look to earn his fifth win of the year Saturday against the Cubs.

Hernandez, who is currently on the 15-day DL with an elbow injury, has not allowed a run yet in his two rehab appearances.
