Braves starter Shelby Miller continued his winless trend, as he took the loss on Saturday against the Nationals. Miller was mostly responsible for this loss however, as he allowed seven runs on seven hits over 4 1/3 innnings. He walked three and struck out four in the 8-2 loss.

Miller (5-13, 2.68 ERA) was lit up for four runs in the third inning, incluing a two-run bomb by Bryce Harper. The Nationals scratched across two more runs in the fourth and another in the fifth before Miller was pulled from the game.

In his last 15 starts, Miller has been given a total of 14 runs of support. Of course, Miller has now gone 20 consecutive starts without a win.

Marlins starter Brad Hand did not have a good effort against the Mets on Saturday. The left-hander was unable to make it out of the second inning, as he allowed seven runs on six hits over 1 2/3 innings in the 7-0 loss.

Hand (4-5, 5.20 ERA) was greeted rudely in this one, as Travis d'Arnaud (three-run) and Wilmer Flores went (solo) went back-to-back in the first inning. Juan Lagares added a two-run shot as part of a three-run second inning against Hand.

Hand is 2-3 with an ugly 7.19 ERA over his last five starts.

Cardinals pitcher Matt Belisle was able to throw a bullpen session Friday, reports MLB.com. It was the first time he threw off a mound since being placed on the disabled list with an elbow injury in late June.

Rockies left-hander Chris Rusin didn't just beat the Giants on Thursday night. He made history.

Rusin became the first Colorado pitcher to toss two complete games at Coors Field in the same season since Aaron Cook in 2008. He allowed three runs on six hits with one walk and five strikeouts. He threw 69 of 103 pitches for strikes.

Oddly, two of the three runs he allowed came off the bat of opposing pitcher Ryan Vogelsong, who took him yard in the third.

Rusin has four quality starts over his last five outings and has lowered his ERA to 4.78, which is not bad considering he gave up 11 runs in two innings in a start two weeks ago.

Reds closer Aroldis Chapman had to dance out of danger to record his 27th save of the year on Wednesday against the Cubs. Chapman entered the ninth inning with the Reds up by three, and he allowed two of the first three batters to reach safely, bringing the tying run to the plate.

But he enduced a fielder's choice groundout and got Dexter Fowler swinging to close out the game and protect the 7-4 win.

Reds starter Raisel Iglesias was excellent in his outing against the Cubs on Wednesday afternoon. The rookie right-hander went seven strong innings, allowing two runs on three hits. He walked three and struck out 10, but was left with a no-decision for his efforts.

The Reds scored twice in the first two innings to give Iglesias a 2-0 lead. But solo home runs in the third (Tommy La Stella) and fourth innings (Anthony Rizzo) tied the game up. The Reds got two runs back to regain the lead, and Iglesias left the game with the Reds up 4-2.

But the bullpen coughed up the lead before the Reds rallied one last time and held on to the 7-4 win.

This was Iglesias' third straight start with at least 10 strikeouts, and he hasn't allowed more than three earned runs since the end of July.

He helped himself with the bat as well in this one, as he hit an RBI triple in the fifth inning. 

Dodgers pitcher Kenley Jansen tossed a perfect ninth inning to earn his 28th save of the season during Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Giants. Jansen has converted 28 of his 30 save chances this season.

Diamondbacks pitcher Rubby De La Rosa earned a quality start and his 12th win of the season during Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Rockies.

De La Rosa allowed three runs on six hits over six innings of work. He also struck out three and did not walk a batter. One of his mistakes was giving up a solo home run to Nolan Arenado in the third inning.

De La Rosa is 6-1 over his last nine outings.

Brewers pitcher Jimmy Nelson earned a quality start and his 11th win of the season during Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Pirates.

Nelson allowed just one run on four hits over seven innings of work. He also struck out six and did not walk a batter. His record improved to 11-10 with a 3.70 ERA.

Nelson is 5-1 over his last nine starts.

Diamondbacks reliever Daniel Hudson worked a shaky ninth inning, but came away with his third save of the season in the victory over the Rockies. Hudson, who hadn't pitched since Thursday due to a cut on his finger, allowed a run on two hits in his inning of work. 

Hudson came on in the ninth inning with the D-Backs leading 6-3, but he gave up one-out RBI-double to Carlos Gonzalez to cut the lead to two. He retired the next two batters, however, and preserved the 6-4 win in Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader.
