Melancon allowed a hit and a walk, but recorded a strikeout and put away the Reds with a scoreless ninth Wednesday for his 10th save of the year.

Melancon remains a steady closing option even though his WHIP remains a bit inflated from the norm -- not that anyone's complaining about a 1.14 mark, but that's still well higher than the 0.87-0.96 range he's been in for the past three seasons. The Pirates play plenty of close games and should win a lot of them, meaning Melancon should again rack up the saves after converting a whopping 51 of 53 last year. His underwhelming strikeout rate keeps him from being among the truly elite closers, though he's making up for that with volume.

Rodney stayed perfect, recording his ninth save in as many tries in the first game of a doubleheader against the Cubs on Wednesday.

He retired the side in order with two ground balls and a fly out. Rodney has yet to give up a run this season and has only yielded 12 base runners in 13 frames. After such a nightmarish start to the 2015 season, Rodney has been a pleasant surprise for owners this season, and he should continue recording saves for the time being.

Edwards was recalled to serve as the 26th man for Wednesday's doubleheader against the Padres.

The right-hander has a 2.38 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP in 11 appearances for Triple-A Iowa while he hasn't conceded a run in his last four appearances. Last season, Edwards made five appearances for the Cubs, giving up two earned runs in 4.2 innings. Edwards should head back down to Iowa after Wednesday's doubleheader.

Sierra had a solid third pro start, tossing six scoreless innings with two hits allowed Tuesday for High-A Rancho Cucamonga.

The six scoreless lowered Sierra's ERA to 5.40 in 15 innings. He's been a bit wild with a 15:7 K:BB, but the 24-year-old could contribute in some capacity for the Dodgers in the second half.

Robles surrendered a walk-off home run to Trayce Thompson on Tuesday, which raised his ERA to 1.93 on the year.

Robles has rightly earned a large role in the Mets' bullpen, pitching anywhere from the sixth to the ninth inning, depending on the score. He retired the first two batters but had a 96-mph fastball tail back over the inner half of the plate, which Thompson blasted over the left-center field wall. The home run was the first allowed this season by Robles, who will continue to pitch in high-leverage situations.

Gomez allowed a run on two hits but still locked down his 12th save Tuesday against Atlanta.

Freddie Freeman got Gomez for a solo home run, but he was able to work around a two-out single to finish the game for a one-run victory. Gomez blew his first and only save of the season May 4 and the run he allowed Tuesday was just the fourth he has allowed in a save situation this season. Even with the home run, Gomez owns a solid 2.75 ERA.

De La Rosa was excellent in Tuesday's win over Colorado, allowing just one run with six strikeouts and one walk in 7.1 strong innings.

The right-hander pounded the zone Tuesday, throwing 70% of his pitches for strikes, and he recorded all but four of his outs via strikeout or ground ball. De La Rosa has been stellar in four appearances since being moved into the starting rotation, with a 2.08 ERA across 26 innings, and he will look to keep it rolling Sunday versus the Giants.

Rusin suffered his first loss of the season Tuesday against Arizona, allowing four earned runs on 10 hits and two walks in 5.2 innings. He struck out four.

Rusin was hit hard for the second straight start and has now allowed a whopping 13 hits and 11 earned runs over his last two starts. Things will not get any easier for the struggling lefty, who is currently scheduled to face the second-ranked offense of the Cardinals next Tuesday.

Edgin (elbow) was activated from the disabled list and optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Edgin finished his rehab assignment Sunday, but the Mets are set with the current bullpen and opted to send the 29-year-old lefty down to Triple-A. Antonio Bastardo and Jerry Blevins will continue to serve as the left-handed specialists in the Mets bullpen.

Iglesias's shoulder is now pain-free and he'll have a follow-up exam Wednesday, the Dayton Daily News reports.

Iglesias hopes to resume throwing after Wednesday's exam. That he hasn't started throwing since going on the DL suggests that it might be a few weeks before Iglesias returns.
