Rodney notched his 22nd save in Friday's 6-5 victory over the Pirates, allowing one hit and two walks in a scoreless ninth inning.

The veteran closer labored a bit through a 21-pitch ninth inning, but was able to ultimately escape with the save. Rodney gave up a leadoff walk to Jody Mercer and a single to John Jaso before inducing a groundout from Josh Harrison and a game-ending double play from Andrew McCutchen following an intentional walk of Starling Marte. The 39-year-old reliever now has converted five straight save opportunities.

Gomez allowed a two-run homer and blew his fourth save of the season in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Cardinals.

Jedd Gyorko took Gomez deep in the ninth Friday to tie the game at three. It was Gomez's first blown save since July 18. He remains secure in his closing role despite the rough outing Friday.

Suter (0-1) surrendered four earned runs on seven hits while walking three and striking out two over 4.1 innings in Friday night's 7-6 loss to Seattle.

The 26-year-old lefty appeared anxious during the course of the night and was unable to keep down the debut jitters, as he struggled with placement and needed nearly 90 pitches (57 strikes) to get through just 4.1 innings. Suter's debut, while undeniably forgettable, was historic, as it was the first time a left-hander had started for the Brewers since August 2013, ending the second-longest streak (474) of games started by right-handed pitchers.

Estevez was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.

The Rockies activated Chad Qualls from the 15-day DL, which forced the team to option Estevez. The 23-year-old struggled with the club, giving up 26 earned runs in 44.1 innings.

Magnifico was optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Friday.

Magnifico allowed one earned run over two innings during his first-ever stint in the majors. However, the right-handed reliever will head back to Triple-A Colorado Springs just three days after arriving with the big club. After 47 games with Colorado Springs, Magnifico has a 3.18 ERA and 1.38 WHIP.

Suter was recalled from Triple-A Colorado Springs and will start Friday against the Mariners.

As expected, Suter is headed up to the big club to make his MLB debut. The southpaw has been solid with Colorado Springs, especially in recent outings. Over his last 10 games, Suter has gone 4-2 with a stellar 2.18 ERA. In a corresponding move, Milwaukee optioned Damien Magnifico to their Triple-A affiliate.

De Leon, 24, has a 2.70 ERA and 22:2 K:BB ratio over his last three starts for Triple-A Oklahoma City, a span of 20 innings.

Though Clayton Kershaw is supposed to return soon, Rich Hill has still not made his Dodger debut since being acquired from the A's, and Julio Urias appears resigned to a bullpen role for now. As such, it would be a surprise if De Leon did not make his big league debut before the end of the 2016 campaign.

Hoffman will be called up to start Saturday's game against the Cubs, Jason Lewis of WRGB Albany reports.

Hoffman's 4.02 ERA and 1.36 WHIP over 22 starts with Triple-A Albuquerque this season do not jump off the page, but he is one of the Rockies' top prospects and has struck out 124 batters over 118.2 innings, and the team believes he is ready for his big league debut. While Hoffman is set to start in his first major league game, the Rockies have capped his pitch count around 75 since late July, so he may only be good for a similar number of pitches Saturday.

Guerra is on the minor league DL with an undisclosed injury.

It is unclear what is ailing Guerra, but he may be thankful to be out of action, as this has been a completely miserable season for the former top prospect. He slashed .202/.264/.325 with nine home runs and 141 strikeouts in 105 games at High-A Lake Elsinore prior to landing on the DL.

Gomez pitched a clean ninth to secure his 32nd save of the year Thursday versus the Dodgers.

After needing 25 pitches to nail down his last save, Gomez needed just 12 to close the door Thursday. He's now 32-for-35 in save opportunities this year, tying Gomez for fourth in the NL and sixth in the majors for saves in 2016. Although the right-hander's enjoying a career year, he hasn't exactly been dominant since the All-Star break. Over 14 second-half appearances, the 28-year-old owns a worrisome 1.50 WHIP and .278 BAA.
