Pomeranz allowed two earned runs on two hits and five walks while striking out two across 4.2 innings Sunday against Arizona. He did not factor into the decision.

Pomeranz struggled in his return from a lat injury, with his five free passes limiting him to a short outing. While he allowed only one extra-base knock, Pomeranz had little idea where the ball would end up throughout his start, also hitting a batter in addition to the walks. More positively, he appears to have returned with full health, as he averaged 93.1 mph on his fastball, slightly above his average mark for the season. He'll look to get back on track in his next start, likely to come Friday against Arizona.

Hicks (1-2) allowed two runs on three hits with one strikeout and one walk across 1.1 innings while taking a loss against the Rangers on Sunday.

The Cardinals asked far more of Hicks than they usually do, as the 22-year-old threw 39 pitches Sunday afternoon. Unsurprisingly, this did not end well. After facing two batters in the eighth and pitching a perfect ninth, Hicks allowed the first three hitters of the 10th to reach base. Carlos Martinez came on, but he couldn't put out the fire fast enough for Hicks to avoid the loss. Hicks dropped to 1-2 with a 2.81 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 21 strikeouts in 16 innings this year.

Weathers (arm) was activated from Low-A Fort Wayne's 7-day injured list Sunday, Bill Center of MLB.com reports.

Weathers had been shut down for the past three weeks after experiencing a dead-arm period, but all is apparently sound on the health front now. The lefty was slated to return to the mound for Sunday's game against the Lansing, but he'll have to wait at least another day to pitch after the contest was postponed.

Suarez will be recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to start Monday's game against the Braves, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Suarez was unable to secure a spot in the starting rotation in spring training but will now get his chance despite posting a 6.33 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 21:10 K:BB through six starts with the River Cats. The 26-year-old made 29 starts for the Giants in 2018 with a 4.49 ERA and 1.30 WHIP across 160.1 innings.

Reyes was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Sunday.

Reyes allowed six runs on five hits and four walks over his last three appearances (1.2 innings), so it's not overly surprising to see him headed for Triple-A. The 26-year-old's first taste of the majors ended with a 18.00 ERA, 2.60 WHIP and 7:5 K:BB across five innings.

Wingenter (shoulder) was activated off the 10-day injured list Sunday.

Wingenter had been on the IL for about two weeks with right shoulder inflammation and is able to make his return without a rehab assignment. The 25-year-old has a 2.93 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 21:8 K:BB through 15.1 innings and should return to a high-leverage role for the Friars.

The Giants activated Pomeranz (lat) from the 10-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Sunday against the Diamondbacks.

Pomeranz was sidelined for just under two weeks with the left lat strain and didn't require a minor-league rehab assignment before being reinstated to the active roster. It's not expected that Pomeranz will face a strict pitch-count cap in his first start back from the IL, but the southpaw hadn't worked more than six innings in any of his seven starts prior to being shut down.

Neris struck out one over two perfect innings to earn the save against the Rockies on Saturday.

It was a no-nonsense outing for Neris, as he threw 14 of his 21 pitches for strikes and retired the side in order in both frames. The 29-year-old continued his strong season and is 7-for-7 in save opportunities with a 1.86 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 26:6 K:BB across 19.1 innings.

Jackson allowed one run on two hits and a walk and blew the save against the Brewers on Saturday.

The walk was intentional, but Jackson also hit a batter. He was fortunate to only give up one run, as the Brewers had the bases loaded with one out in the ninth, but Jackson had already blown the lead. He is 6-for-9 in save attempts and has blown two of his last six opportunities, but Atlanta doesn't really seem to have many other options for the closer role. He also has a 2.31 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 30 strikeouts in 23.1 innings this season.

Hudson (3-3) earned the win against the Rangers on Saturday by allowing two runs on five hits over six innings. He struck out five and walked two.

Hudson's only hiccup of the day came during the fifth inning, when the Rangers scratched across two runs with a single, double and walk. The 24-year-old has now delivered a quality start in three of his last four outings after failing to achieve one through his first six starts of the year. Hudson has a 4.40 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 36:22 K:BB and lines up to face the Braves next weekend.
