Hudson (0-1) recorded just one out in Tuesday's 7-4 loss to the Nationals in Game 4 of the NLCS, yielding seven runs (four earned) on five hits and one walk. He did not record a strikeout.

Quite simply, it was a night to forget for Hudson, who was absolutely blitzed in the first inning and came out of the game after throwing only 25 pitches. He was also let down by his defense, including an error by Kolton Wong and a routine fly to right that dropped in between Wong and Jose Martinez for a hit. When it was all said and done, Hudson was rocked for two doubles, three singles, an intentional walk and a sacrifice fly before being lifted with two runners on for Adam Wainwright, who allowed both to score. Better days are ahead for the 25-year-old, who went 16-7 in his first year in the St. Louis rotation and posted a 3.35 ERA over 33 appearances (32 starts).

Jansen is expected to keep the Dodgers' closer job next season, Alanna Rizzo of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.

President of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman did say, "We'll see how things play out," at a press conference Monday, indicating that the Dodgers could pursue alternative plans, but it sounds as though the 32-year-old is expected to keep his job. His 30.4 percent strikeout rate and 6.1 percent walk rate were each very good numbers but came in a clear tier below his 42.3 percent strikeout rate and 2.7 percent walk rate from his incredible 2017 season.

Suero was removed from the Nationals' NLCS roster Saturday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

Howard struck out two and walked six in 4.2 innings in the Arizona Fall League on Thursday.

Howard's fastball reached 98 mph and was grouped with an excellent curveball and slider, Josh Norris of Baseball America reports. The 23-year-old battled shoulder issues this season but was excellent when available, recording a 2.03 ERA in 15 starts while striking out 34.8 percent of opposing batters and walking just 5.9 percent. Six of those starts came at the Double-A level, leaving him positioned to make his big-league debut at some point next season if his progress continues.

The 25-year-old will pitch in Game 4 of the NLCS after allowing four runs (one earned) off five hits and two walks while recording two strikeouts over 4.2 innings in the NLDS. Hudson carries a 3.35 ERA with a 136:86 K:BB over 32 starts in the regular season.

Hartlieb had surgery on his right foot Wednesday, and the Pirates expect him to be ready for spring training, Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic reports.

Hartlieb, 25, posted a 38:18 K:BB with a 9.00 ERA in 29 appearances this season.

Martin (oblique) was removed from the Braves' NLDS roster Friday.

Martin left his outing in Game 1 against the Cardinals on Thursday due to left oblique tightness. Removing him from the roster means he'll be unable to return for the NLCS, should the Braves qualify, but he'll be eligible to rejoin the team for the World Series if it makes it that far. Julio Teheran takes his spot in the bullpen.
