Dodgers' Kenley Jansen: Delivers 30th save

Jansen saved Tuesday's 3-2 triumph over Atlanta, striking out two in a clean ninth.

Jansen made quick work of the heart of Atlanta's order to pull into a tie with Liam Hendriks for second in MLB in saves. It was nice to see the three-time All-Star reaffirm his grip on the closer role after sitting out Monday's save situation; apparently the off day was scheduled maintenance due to Jansen pitching on Saturday and Sunday.

  • Blake Treinen RP | LAD

Dodgers' Blake Treinen: Rolls to another victory

Treinen (5-5) earned the win in Tuesday's 3-2 victory over Atlanta, striking out all three batters he faced.

After pitching the ninth inning and earning the save Monday, Treinen returned to his customary setup role with Kenley Jansen handling closing duties. He sat down the top three of Atlanta's order on 16 pitches and fell in line for the win when the Dodgers took the lead in the bottom of the inning. The 33-year-old has been extremely active in the second half of August, recording two wins, two saves and three holds since Aug. 16.

  • Cubs' Manuel Rodriguez: Earns relief win Tuesday

Rodriguez (3-2) fired two scoreless innings, allowing just a pair of walks to earn the win against the Twins on Tuesday.

Rodriguez inherited runners on first and second base with one out in the fifth inning. He got Luis Arraez to ground out into a double play to end the frame. The 24-year-old has allowed just one run in 10.2 innings over his last nine appearances. He carries a 2.63 ERA and 0.95 WHIP with 13 strikeouts in 13.2 innings this season.

  • Bryse Wilson RP | CHC

Pirates' Bryse Wilson: Struggles through five innings

Wilson (2-6) pitched five innings while giving up four runs on six hits and a walk, striking out one in a loss to the White Sox on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old was hurt by the long ball in this one, surrendering a second-inning blast to Yasmani Grandal and another solo shot in the third to Jose Abreu. He loaded the bases and allowed another run before being pulled with no outs in the sixth inning. It marked the third time in his last four starts that he has given up at least three earned runs. His next start projects to be a road matchup against the Cubs this weekend.

  • Andrew Vasquez RP | DET

Dodgers' Andrew Vasquez: Sent to Dodgers

Vasquez was acquired by the Dodgers from the Twins on Tuesday in exchange for minor-league catcher Stevie Berman, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Vasquez has 10 big-league appearances under his belt and last pitched in the majors during 2019, but he'll now join the Dodgers for the stretch run as a potential bullpen piece. The left-hander has a 3.61 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 68:22 K:BB across 42.1 innings at the Triple-A level this season.

  • Matt Moore RP | BOS

    Phillies' Matt Moore: Struggles again

Moore surrendered five runs on six hits and five walks while striking out two over 3.1 innings during Tuesday's win over the Nationals. He did not factor into the decision.

A lack of control plagued Moore once again. The southpaw threw only 38 of his 82 pitches for strikes, registering a strike rate of 46.3 percent. Moore's start is the first by a Phillies pitcher with five-plus walks and two or fewer strikeouts since Henderson Alvarez in 2017. The 32-year-old has eclipsed five innings in a start just once across his last seven outings. Moore could potentially see another turn in the rotation if Zach Eflin (knee) remains on the shelf. If so, he lines up for a road start Monday at Milwaukee.

  • Max Kranick RP | WAS

    Pirates' Max Kranick: Starting Wednesday

Kranick will be promoted from Triple-A Indianapolis to start Wednesday against the White Sox, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Kranick has been in the minors since being demoted in early August, but he'll rejoin the big-league rotation Wednesday. The right-hander surrendered three earned runs over 4.1 innings during his last start for Indianapolis and has a 7.20 ERA over 20 big-league innings (five starts) this season.

  • John Brebbia RP | COL

Giants' John Brebbia: Returns to minors

The Giants optioned Brebbia to Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday.

Brebbia was recalled from Sacramento on Monday after Johnny Cueto landed on the COVID-19 injured list, but he heads right back to Triple-A now that Cueto is healthy and active. It's possible the righty finds himself back in San Francisco around the time when rosters expand, as he's a veteran arm who can provide much-needed bullpen depth in the last month of the regular season.

  • Wander Suero RP | ATH

Nationals' Wander Suero: Recalled from Triple-A

Suero was recalled by the Nationals on Tuesday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Suero's arrival gives the Nationals an extra bullpen arm with Kyle Finnegan away on paternity leave. Suero owns a 6.29 ERA in 34.1 innings at the MLB level this season.

  • Yennsy Diaz RP | NYM

Mets' Yennsy Diaz: Added as 27th man

Diaz joined the Mets as the 27th man for Tuesday night's game against the Marlins, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The righty will be available for low-leverage relief in Tuesday's contest. It's unclear whether Diaz will remain with the Mets or return to Triple-A Syracuse following Tuesday's game.
