  • Alex Reyes RP | LAD

Cardinals' Alex Reyes: Coughs up grand slam

Reyes (5-8) gave up a walkoff grand slam and blew the save in Sunday's loss to the Brewers. He was charged with one run.

Reyes was called upon to protect a 5-2 lead with the bases loaded and one out in the ninth inning. He served up a walkoff grand slam to Daniel Vogelbach on his second pitch. He had worked two clean innings this month since blowing his last save chance Aug. 29. Giovanny Gallegos also struggled Sunday and the Cardinals' closer gig is still up in the air. Reyes' ERA is up to 3.00 through 60 innings.

  • Mark Melancon RP | ARI

Padres' Mark Melancon: Earns fourth win

Melancon (4-2) pitched a scoreless ninth inning, walking three batters while striking out one to earn the win over the Astros on Sunday.

Melancon entered the ninth inning in a tie game. He struggled with his command, issuing three walks for just the second time this season. However, he was able to get out of the inning with the tie intact. The Padres walked it off in the ninth to give Melancon the win. The closer has a 1.92 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with an MLB-leading 36 saves.

  • Andres Machado RP | WAS

Nationals' Andres Machado: Handed loss Sunday

Machado (1-2) took the loss Sunday versus the Mets, allowing one run on three hits while recording only one out.

The right-hander was brought on for the eighth inning, but he loaded the bases and recorded his only out on a Patrick Mazeika sacrifice fly that scored the Mets' go-ahead run. Machado has yielded five runs (four earned) in his last four appearances spanning just 1.2 innings. He has a reasonable 3.65 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 21:7 K:BB across 24.2 innings this year, and he's added six holds and two blown saves.

  • Aaron Loup RP | LAA

Mets' Aaron Loup: Picks up fifth win

Loup (5-0) walked one and struck out none in a scoreless inning to earn the win Sunday versus Washington.

The southpaw kept the game tied at 6-6 in the seventh inning, and the Mets put him in line for a win by going ahead in the top of the eighth. Since the start of July, Loup has been nearly untouchable, as he's allowed just two runs on 11 hits, 10 walks and three hit batters while striking out 20 in 24 innings. He's pitched to a microscopic 1.13 ERA and 0.92 WHIP with a 49:13 K:BB and 14 holds through 47.2 innings this year.

  • Mitch White RP | MIL

Dodgers' Mitch White: Rejoins big-league club

White was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday.

The 26-year-old was demoted after starting Aug. 29 against the Rockies, and he'll rejoin the Dodgers on Sunday with AJ Pollock (hamstring) headed to the injured list. Los Angeles has yet to announce a starter for Tuesday's game at St. Louis, and White should be in consideration to take the mound.

  • Camilo Doval RP | NYY

Giants' Camilo Doval: Rejoins major-league club

Doval was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Doval had a one-game stint in the majors in mid-August and will rejoin the big-league roster. There's a strong likelihood the 24-year-old pitches during Sunday's series finale against the Dodgers since manager Gabe Kapler is employing a second consecutive bullpen game due to injuries in the starting rotation.

  • Sam Long RP | KC

Giants' Sammy Long: Sent to Triple-A

Long was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Long allowed two runs (one earned) on a hit and two walks during Saturday's loss to the Dodgers, and he'll head to the minors in favor of a fresh bullpen arm. The 26-year-old has a 5.72 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 38:15 K:BB across 39.1 major-league innings this season.

  • Dillon Peters RP | PIT

Pirates' Dillon Peters: May rejoin rotation Tuesday

GM Ben Cherington said Peters (back) could return from the injured list to start Tuesday versus the Tigers, Mike Persak of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Peters landed on the shelf Aug. 28 with a strained lower back, and Tuesday would be the first day he's eligible to be activated. If he's able to start, the left-hander shouldn't face significant workload limitations given the brevity of his absence.

  • Dakota Hudson SP | LAA

Cardinals' Dakota Hudson: Another rehab outing Tuesday

Hudson (elbow) will make another rehab start with Double-A Springfield on Tuesday, Jim Hayes of Bally Sports Midwest reports.

Hudson delivered 43 pitches over 2.2 innings during his last rehab outing with Springfield on Thursday, and he's slated to throw 50-to-60 pitches in Tuesday's start. According to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the right-hander is scheduled for three more rehab appearances, including Tuesday's contest, so he's likely still a couple weeks away from rejoining the Cardinals.

  • Rockies' Carlos Estevez: Earns fifth save

Estevez allowed one run on a hit and no walks while striking out one in one inning to earn the save in Saturday's win over Atlanta.

Saturday's outing marked the first time Estevez gave up a run since July 28, but he still preserved the lead to pick up his third save in his last five outings. The right-hander has taken on ninth-inning duties recently since Daniel Bard was removed due to struggles, and he's performed well in high-leverage situations.
