  • Raymond Kerr RP | ATL

Padres' Ray Kerr: Optioned to Triple-A

Kerr was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday.

Kerr had been on the roster since April 22 but made just a single appearance. He'll return to El Paso to clear a roster spot for Mike Clevinger (knee).

  • Trevor May RP | ATH

Mets' Trevor May: Heads to IL

The Mets placed May on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with right triceps inflammation, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

May was initially diagnosed with a low-grade triceps strain following his April 11 appearance against the Phillies, but after a few days of recovery time, he returned to action and avoided a trip to the IL. However, after May let in two runs in Monday's loss to Atlanta to bring his season ERA up to 8.64, he acknowledged that he had still been battling the triceps injury. The fact that the Mets are characterizing his latest triceps-related setback as inflammation rather than a strain bodes well for his chances of avoiding a long-term absence, but May will still have to miss at least the next two-plus weeks. New York called up Adonis Medina from Triple-A Syracuse to fill May's spot in the bullpen.

  • Adonis Medina RP | SEA

Mets' Adonis Medina: Joins big-league bullpen

The Mets recalled Medina from Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

He'll join New York's bullpen as a replacement for Trevor May (triceps), who was placed on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. Medina previously made one relief appearance for the Mets earlier in the season, striking out the side in a perfect inning against Arizona on April 23.

  • Packy Naughton RP | STL

Cardinals' Packy Naughton: Rejoins St. Louis

The Cardinals recalled Naughton from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

Just one day after being optioned to Memphis, Naughton will rejoin the Cardinals as a replacement for Steven Matz (personal), who was placed on the bereavement list. Matz isn't scheduled to make his next start until Saturday in San Francisco, so assuming he's back by then, Naughton won't be needed in the rotation. Instead, look for Naughton to serve as a multi-inning option out of the bullpen while Matz is away from the team.

  • Anthony Banda RP | MIN

Pirates' Anthony Banda: Activated from injured list

Banda (illness) was activated from the injured list Tuesday.

Banda had been sidelined due to pneumonia but is now over the illness. Prior to his absence, he'd thrown 4.1 innings of relief, giving up one run on four hits while striking out five and walking none. Aaron Fletcher was optioned to clear a roster spot.

  • A.J. Minter RP | NYM

Braves' A.J. Minter: Collects third hold

Minter struck out one in a perfect eighth inning Monday to record his third hold of the season in a 5-2 win over the Mets.

The 28-year-old southpaw continues his strong start to the season in a setup role, posting a 2.79 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and 15:2 K:BB through 9.2 innings. Tyler Matzek is the current holds leader for Atlanta with six, largely due to his usage as a situational lefty, but Minter appears to be the top choice when manager Brian Snitker wants one of his portside flamethrowers to begin an inning and protect a lead. Surprisingly, Will Smith is the one who has been deployed primarily in high-leverage spots when Atlanta doesn't hold a lead -- he has only one hold and one save so far, after piling up 37 saves in 2021.

  • Collin McHugh RP | ATL

Braves' Collin McHugh: Picks up first hold

McHugh struck out the only batter he faced in Monday's 5-2 win over the Mets to record his first hold of the season.

The veteran right-hander was expected to fill a key setup role in Atlanta's bullpen, but McHugh has had a rocky start to the year, posting a 5.40 ERA and 1.44 WHIP despite a 14:2 K:BB through 8.1 innings. He's tossed more than one inning in three of his eight appearances but less than a full inning in four others, and that kind of unpredictable usage could limit his fantasy upside even if his ratios do improve.

  • Kenley Jansen RP | DET

Braves' Kenley Jansen: Notches seventh save

Jansen gave up a hit and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Monday to record his seventh save of the season in a 5-2 win over the Mets.

The right-hander has reeled off nine straight scoreless appearances after a shaky outing in his first game with Atlanta, and Jansen has converted all seven of his save chances so far for his new team. The hot streak has left him with a 2.70 ERA, 0.60 WHIP and 13:2 K:BB through his first 10 innings on the year.

  • Blake Treinen RP | LAD

Dodgers' Blake Treinen: Doesn't appear close to return

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Treinen's recovery from his right shoulder injury is "gonna be a longer process," Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

There was hope immediately after Treinen was placed on the IL that he could be back after a minimum stay, but that possibility has already passed. To this point, there has been no word about Treinen doing any sort of throwing, and Roberts' comment Sunday suggests that he is a way off from a return. If the right-hander's absence continues to linger, there's a good chance he could need a rehab stint before being activated.

  • Trevor May RP | ATH

Mets' Trevor May: Headed for another MRI

May is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his right arm Tuesday after struggling in his appearance Monday night against Atlanta, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. He gave up two runs on two hits and one walk in one inning.

May has given up two runs in three of his last four outings, and he stated after Monday's game that his right triceps continues to impact his pitching mechanics, per Deesha Thosar of the New York Daily News. He'll be considered day-to-day until his imaging results are evaluated by the team medical staff.
