  • Josh Hader RP | HOU

Brewers' Josh Hader: Picks up save Tuesday

Hader earned the save Tuesday, striking out the side in the ninth in a 6-3 win in Minnesota.

Hader fanned Gio Urshela, Gary Sanchez, and Luis Arraez to close out the game and pick up his 27th save. Earlier Tuesday it was reported that Hader was on the bereavement list but that announcement was made erroneously and the lefty was available to close out Tuesday's game. It was the fourth time this season that he closed out a game by striking out the side. He is now 27-for-28 in save chances and continues to dominate opponents with 52 strikeouts in 29.2 innings.

  • Alex Colome RP | CHW

Rockies' Alex Colome: Cramps prompt exit

Colome was removed from Tuesday's win over the Padres with cramping in his hamstring, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Colome allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and a walk over two-thirds of an inning before being lifted with the injury. It doesn't sound like a serious concern, and the veteran right-hander should be considered day-to-day.

  • Mitch White RP | MIL

Dodgers' Mitch White: Surrenders six runs in loss

White (1-2) took the loss during Tuesday's 7-6 defeat at the hands of the Cardinals, allowing six runs on 10 hits and two walks with three strikeouts in five innings.

White retired the first five Cardinals but proceeded to surrender five straight hits and three runs in the second followed by another run in the third and two more runs on five baserunners in the fourth. The six runs allowed exceeded the total from his last four starts combined, and his ERA jumped nearly a full run from 3.38 to 4.20. White isn't slated for another turn prior to the All-Star break, though he could be utilized in relief over the weekend.

  • Daniel Bard RP | COL

Rockies' Daniel Bard: Perfect inning for 19th save

Bard struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Padres.

Bard faced the top of the Padres' order, retiring Ha-Seong Kim, Jake Cronenworth and Manny Machado on a combined 10 pitches (eight strikes). After some shakiness around the turn of the calendar from June to July, Bard has strung together three straight scoreless appearances, logging a save in each of those outings. He's 19-for-21 in save chances with a 2.14 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 41:17 K:BB across 33.2 innings overall.

  • Cardinals' Giovanny Gallegos: Logs 10th save

Gallegos earned the save during Tuesday's 7-6 win against the Dodgers, allowing one run on one hit and one walk with two strikeouts in one inning.

Gallegos served up a leadoff homer to Freddie Freeman and was able to work around a Max Muncy walk to deliver his first save since June 14. It was a nice rebound from a loss and blown save in his last two appearances. However, the 30-year-old has now surrendered a run in each of his last three appearances and seen his ERA rise from 2.90 to 3.44. It seemed Gallegos had fallen behind Ryan Helsley as the preferred closer, though Helsley was deployed in the eighth inning Tuesday and manager Oliver Marmol may be inclined to play the matchups.

  • A.J. Minter RP | NYM

Braves' A.J. Minter: Picks up fourth save

Minter earned the save Tuesday, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning of a 4-1 win over the Mets.

Minter struck out Eduardo Escobar and then retired the last two batters on groundouts. The lefty has picked up three saves while Kenley Jansen (chest) has been on the injured list. With Jansen likely to return Wednesday, Minter should return to a setup role and may receive the occasional save chance.

  • Robert Suarez RP | ATL

Padres' Robert Suarez: Shifts to 60-day IL

Suarez (knee) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Tuesday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Suarez has been sidelined for the past month after undergoing knee surgery, and he'll now remain on the shelf until at least early August. The right-hander recently progressed to throwing bullpen sessions, and he should continue building up his workload over the next few weeks.

  • Connor Brogdon RP | CLE

Phillies' Connor Brogdon: Could be back Friday

Brogdon (illness) is scheduled to make his third rehab appearance Wednesday with Triple-A Lehigh Valley and could be reinstated from the COVID-19-related injured list Friday, Alex Coffey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Brogdon experienced forearm fatigue coming out of his first rehab outing Thursday, but interim manager Rob Thomson said the right-hander felt much better following his second appearance with Lehigh Valley on Sunday. Assuming he remains free of setbacks Wednesday, Brogdon should slot back into the Phillies' bullpen for their final series of the first half this weekend in Miami.

  • Kenley Jansen RP | DET

Braves' Kenley Jansen: Set to return Wednesday

Jansen (chest) is expected to be activated from the injured list Wednesday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The bullpen session Jansen threw Monday must have gone off without a hitch, as it appears Tuesday will be the final day he spends off the active roster. Given that he will have missed just one day more than the 15 days required by his placement on the injured list, he figures to immediately reclaim the closer's duties for Atlanta.

  • Jordan Hicks RP | CHW

Cardinals' Jordan Hicks: Gets look in opener role

Hicks will serve as the Cardinals' opening pitcher in Tuesday's game against the Dodgers, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Hicks has previously made seven starts with St. Louis this season, but he's made each of his four appearances since coming off the injured list July 2 in relief. Manager Oliver Marmol recently hinted at the possibility of using Hicks as an opener, and the skipper determined that a matchup with a fearsome top half of the Dodgers' lineup was a good spot to use the right-hander. Hicks will likely work one or two innings before giving way to bulk reliever Matthew Liberatore, who mostly struggled while working as a traditional starter over his first six big-league outings.
