  • Liam Hendriks RP | MIN

Red Sox's Liam Hendriks: Tossing another live BP

Hendriks (elbow) is scheduled to throw live batting practice Wednesday and the Red Sox will discuss next steps following the session, with a rehab assignment the likeliest outcome, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

Manager Alex Cora didn't commit to sending Hendriks on a minor-league rehab assignment but indicated that it will probably be the next step in Hendriks' recovery from Tommy John surgery. Hendriks hasn't pitched in a game since June 10, 2023 and will likely need several appearances in the minors before being activated.

  • Brendan White RP | SEA

Tigers' Brendan White: Recalled, placed on 60-day IL

The Tigers recalled White from Double-A Erie on Tuesday and placed him on the 60-day injured list with a right elbow strain.

The transaction clears a spot on Detroit's 40-man roster for Kerry Carpenter, who came off the 60-day injured list Tuesday. White has been limited to just 7.1 innings this season because of elbow issues and hasn't pitched in nearly two months. He is being tested for a potential radial nerve injury, per Evan Woodbery of MLive.com.

  • Guardians' Peter Strzelecki: Optioned to Triple-A

The Guardians optioned Strzelecki to Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday.

He's clearing out to make room for Tuesday's starter, Matthew Boyd. Strzelecki has permitted three runs with a 9:3 K:BB over 11.2 relief innings for the Guardians this season.

  • Scott Blewett RP | STL

Twins' Scott Blewett: Exits 40-man roster

The Twins designated Blewett for assignment Tuesday.

The transaction clears a spot on the 26-man and 40-man rosters for the addition of Zebby Matthews, who has been called up to make his major-league debut Tuesday. Blewett retired the only three batters he faced during his brief time with the Twins.

  • Brad Keller SP | PHI

Red Sox's Brad Keller: Re-signs on minor-league contract

The Red Sox re-signed Keller to a minor-league contract Tuesday, Chris Hatfield of SoxProspects.com reports.

Keller refused an option to Triple-A Worcester from the Red Sox but has quickly re-upped on a minor-league deal. He will likely move into Worcester's rotation.

  • Brock Burke RP | CIN

Angels' Brock Burke: Claimed by Angels

The Angels claimed Burke off waivers from the Rangers on Tuesday.

Burke had been designated for assignment earlier this week and has now been scooped up by an American League West rival. The left-handed reliever holds a career 4.22 ERA and 172:53 K:BB across 182.1 innings over parts of four big-league seasons.

  • Nick Robertson RP | LAD

Angels' Nick Robertson: Claimed by Halos

The Angels claimed Robertson off waivers Tuesday from St. Louis.

Robertson has been at the Triple-A level since returning from the injured list in late June. He had logged a 7.48 ERA across 21.2 innings for Triple-A Memphis prior to being DFA'd by the Cardinals. The 25-year-old reliever is expected to report to Triple-A Salt Lake.

  • Kyle Muller SP | ATH

Athletics' Kyle Muller: DFA'd by Oakland

The Athletics designated Muller for assignment Tuesday.

The left-hander last pitched since Aug. 3 versus the Dodgers and surrendered six runs across one inning. Muller had a 3.02 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 32:9 K:BB in 41.2 frames this season prior to that outing, but he won't retain his place on Oakland's 26-man and 40-man rosters.

  • Nick Sandlin RP | LAA

Guardians' Nick Sandlin: Collects seventh win

Sandlin (7-0) allowed a hit and a walk while striking out one over two-thirds of an inning to earn the win Monday over the Cubs.

Sandlin also took a blown save after allowing an inherited runner to score, but the Guardians regained the lead in the bottom of the eighth to make him the pitcher of record. This was Sandlin's first win in nearly a month. He's been a little shaky with a 4.40 ERA and 1.60 WHIP over 14.1 innings since the start of July. For the year, he's at a 3.80 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 52:19 K:BB with a save and six holds through 42.2 innings.

  • Emmanuel Clase RP | CLE

Guardians' Emmanuel Clase: Locks down 36th save

Clase struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Monday's 9-8 win over the Cubs.

Clase had already pitched both Saturday and Sunday, but he made quick work of the Cubs, needing just 10 pitches to earn a save for the third day in a row. That's likely to make him unavailable Tuesday should a save chance arise, though Hunter Gaddis and Cade Smith will be fresh as two of the Guardians' relievers that didn't appear Monday. Clase is now 36-for-39 in save chances with a 0.65 ERA, 0.65 WHIP and 49:7 K:BB through 55.1 innings this season.
