  • Jhoan Duran RP | PHI

Twins' Jhoan Duran: Sharp despite lack of save chances

Duran threw a perfect inning while striking out one in Sunday's 5-1 win over Detroit. He has a 1.42 ERA with five strikeouts in 6.1 innings but doesn't have a save chance.

He was lined up to get a save opportunity, but the Twins scored in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Duran a four-run lead to protect in the ninth inning. The Twins do not have a save yet as a team this season. Duran's velocity is down slightly this season (99.9 mph average fastball from 100.5 mph last season), but he's still been very effective. He's set to get the bulk of save chances for the Twins, though manager Rocco Baldelli will likely play matchups and use Duran in the eighth inning at times with Griffin Jax pitching the ninth inning.

  • Hoby Milner RP | CHC

Rangers' Hoby Milner: Remains unscored upon

Milner struck out two over a scoreless inning in Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Mariners.

Milner made a sixth consecutive scoreless appearance to open the season. He's allowed three hits and walked one while striking out eight over seven innings.

  • Orioles' Seranthony Dominguez: Strong start in setup role

Dominguez picked up a hold Sunday against Toronto after throwing 1.1 clean innings. He struck out one.

Dominguez came on to protect a 4-3 lead with two runners on base in the sixth inning, striking out Bo Bichette on a foul tip to end the frame before retiring the side in the seventh frame. Dominguez has yielded just one hit over seven shutout innings to begin the season, but the right-hander doesn't carry much fantasy value outside of leagues that record holds while closer Felix Bautista is healthy for the Orioles.

  • Royals' Carlos Estevez: Fans side for save

Estevez allowed a hit in a scoreless inning during Sunday's win over Cleveland. He struck out three and earned a save.

Estevez coughed up a single to Steven Kwan to open the ninth inning but punched out the next three batters he faced to close out the 4-2 win. It was Estevez's fifth save in six chances. He dropped his ERA to 1.29 with a 9:4 K:BB through seven innings this season. Estevez has collected five of Kansas City's six saves so far.

  • Red Sox's Aroldis Chapman: Slams door for save

Chapman allowed a hit in a scoreless inning during Sunday's win over the White Sox. He earned a save and struck out two.

Chapman gave up his first run of the year and took a loss Saturday but quickly bounced back. He coughed up a two-out single to Andrew Vaughn but punched out Michael Taylor to close out the 3-1 win. Chapman owns an impressive 1.29 ERA with an 11:4 K:BB through seven innings.

  • Red Sox's Aroldis Chapman: Experiences first hiccup

Chapman (2-1) was tagged for his first loss Saturday as the Red Sox fell 3-2 to the White Sox. He allowed a run on a walk and a single while striking out one over a third of an inning.

Chapman had not allowed a run over his first six appearances. He gave up a leadoff walk to Luis Robert, who eventually stole second base and scored on a Brooks Baldwin walk-off single. Through six innings this season, Chapman has a 1.50 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 9:4 K:BB while converting both his save chances.

  • Evan Sisk RP | PIT

Royals' Evan Sisk: Called up from Triple-A

The Royals recalled Sisk from Triple-A Omaha on Sunday.

Sisk will make his MLB debut if/when he gets into a game with the Royals. Kansas City added the lefty reliever to its 40-man roster over the winter after he submitted a 1.56 ERA and 1.03 WHIP while striking out 81 batters in 57.2 innings with Omaha in 2024. He had gotten off to a nice start with Omaha this season, having yet to allow a run while striking out four over 4.2 innings.

  • Sam Long RP | KC

Royals' Sam Long: On IL with elbow inflammation

The Royals placed Long on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to left elbow inflammation.

Long's move to the IL comes after he gave up three earned runs on two hits and two walks over one inning in relief in Saturday's 6-3 loss to the Guardians. The elbow issue may have contributed to the left-hander's struggles this season, as he's turned in a 12.86 ERA and 2.43 WHIP across seven appearances. Kansas City called up southpaw Evan Sisk from Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move.

  • Red Sox's Michael Fulmer: Summoned to majors

The Red Sox selected Fulmer's contract from Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, Mac Cerullo of the Boston Herald reports.

After missing the entire 2024 season while recovering from UCL revision surgery, Fulmer had staged a successful comeback at Triple-A to begin the current campaign. Over 11.2 innings across three appearances (two starts), Fulmer gave up six runs (four earned) on seven hits and six walks while striking out 18 batters. Though he'll be joining the 26-man active roster as a replacement for starter Richard Fitts (pectoral), Fulmer is likely to work out of the Boston bullpen as a long-relief option.

  • Cade Smith RP | CLE

Guardians' Cade Smith: Earns fifth hold

Smith struck out two in a scoreless inning to earn a hold during Saturday's 6-3 win over Kansas City.

With the Guardians up 3-1, Smith opened the top of the eighth inning with the task of getting the lead to closer Emmanuel Clase. He made quick work of the Royals for his fifth hold, before Cleveland stretched the lead with three runs in the bottom of the frame. Smith has allowed two unearned runs over eight outings, giving up three hits and three walks while striking out nine over 7.2 innings.
