The Athletics designated Thomas for assignment Saturday.

Thomas joined the Athletics on Thursday after being claimed off waivers from Atlanta, but the left-hander didn't make any appearances before the Athletics elected to move him off the 40-man roster. The 28-year-old has gotten off to a historically poor start to his big-league career; over four appearances with Milwaukee and Atlanta between this season and last, Thomas has allowed 27 earned runs on 27 hits and eight walks while striking out nine batters in 11.2 innings.

The Yankees recalled Cruz from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.

Cruz is back for his third stint with the big club so far this season. During his previous two call-ups, the right hander made three total appearances covering 4.1 innings and pitched well, allowing no runs on one hit and a 6:0 K:BB. Cruz will take the roster and bullpen spots previously occupied by Camilo Doval, who was traded to Pittsburgh on Saturday.

The Athletics selected Bowden's contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday.

Bowden has logged 32 appearances -- all in relief -- for Las Vegas this season, posting a 5.40 ERA and 1.41 WHIP with a 45:15 K:BB over 36.2 innings. He made 11 relief appearances for the big club in 2025, registering a 4.22 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 7:5 K:BB across 10.2 frames. Bowden will likely take on a low-leverage role in the Athletics bullpen in place of Luis Morales, who was optioned to Las Vegas in a corresponding move.

The Angels called Kerry up from Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Kerry had been slated to start for Salt Lake on Saturday but was scratched from that outing. That could mean that he'll work in bulk relief Saturday, as Jose Soriano was scratched from his scheduled start for the Angels, and the team is starting Brent Suter as an opener. Kerry has made one appearance -- his MLB debut -- for the Angels this season, allowing two runs on three hits with two strikeouts and one walk over four innings against Arizona on June 17. To make room for him on the 26-man roster, Ryan Johnson was optioned following his start Friday.

The Rangers optioned Curvelo to Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday.

Curvelo was called up from Triple-A on Friday but will now head right back to the minors after giving up four runs in two innings against the Astros. Nolan Kingham will come up from Round Rock to fill the void in the bullpen.

Suter will start Saturday's game against the Brewers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

The Angels scratched Jose Soriano from his start Saturday as they look to trade him ahead of Monday's deadline, so Suter will now take the mound to begin the game. The 36-year-old has given up two earned runs in nine innings since the All-Star break and has the ability to go two or three innings before coming out of the game.

The Orioles recalled Hiraldo from Triple-A Norfolk on Saturday.

The Orioles have an open spot on their pitching staff after sending Dean Kremer to Minnesota on Friday, so they'll bring up Hiraldo to add extra bullpen depth until a fifth starter is needed. Hiraldo gave up four earned runs in 1.2 innings across three appearances with the Orioles back in March before landing on the IL with a shoulder injury. He's given up just one run in 8.1 Triple-A innings since that stint in the big leagues.

The Twins reinstated Acton (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list Saturday and optioned him to Triple-A St. Paul, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Acton landed on the injured list in late April with a strained right shoulder but began playing in rehab games July 11. Since then, he's given up four runs in 9.2 innings across three levels. Now fully healthy, he'll stay put at Triple-A and provide organizational bullpen depth.

The Twins designated Laweryson (undisclosed) for assignment Saturday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Laweryson will give up his 40-man roster spot to A.J. Minter, who officially joined the Twins on Saturday after being traded from the Mets on Thursday. Laweryson owns a 4.86 ERA and 1.38 WHIP through 16.2 innings in the majors this year and hasn't pitched at Triple-A St. Paul since July 17 due to an unknown injury.

Madden (1-0) earned the win in Friday's 13-1 victory against the Athletics. He allowed two hits and two walks while striking out two over three scoreless innings.

The Tigers scratched Casey Mize from Friday's start with the trade deadline looming and instead went with a bullpen game. Tyler Holton served as the opener, and Madden followed with three scoreless frames of bulk relief. The right-hander rejoined the Tigers on July 21 after spending just over a month at Triple-A Toledo, and he's pitched well since returning to the majors with a 0.90 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 10:7 K:BB across 10 innings (four appearances).
