Zach Putnam picks up win Tuesday vs. Giants

White Sox pitcher Zach Putnam picked up a win Tuesday, giving up one hit on 1 1/3 innings and striking out one in his team's 3-2, 10-inning victory over the Giants.

Putnam (4-2) was brought on to get the final out of the ninth inning after the Giants scored two runs in the game and did his job. The White Sox stuck with him in the 10th, and he was able to get two quick outs before giving up a two-out single, which didn't ultimately make a difference in the final score. Putnam owns a 2.21 ERA and 33:15 K:BB ratio in 40 2/3 innings.

  • Fernando Rodney delivers 34th save Tuesday

Mariners closer Fernando Rodney earned his 34th save Tuesday, striking out one and walking one in a scoreless ninth inning to finish off his team's 6-3 win over the Blue Jays.

Rodney allowed one run in four of his previous five outings coming into Tuesday, but he was able to retire the first two batters he faced before issuing what turned out to be an inconsquential walk. He owns a 2.36 ERA and 56:19 K:BB ratio in 49 2/3 innings.

    Diamondbacks-Indians postponed Tuesday, DH Wednesday

Tuesday's game between the Indians and Diamondbacks was postponed due to a lengthy rain delay that interrupted the fourth inning.

The teams are set to play a traditional doubleheader Wednesday as a result of the postponement. Trevor Bauer will face Andrew Chafin in Game 1, per announcement by the two teams, while Josh Tomlin will battle Vidal Nuno in Game 2.

Josh Collmenter and T.J. House had their starts wiped out Tuesday with the Indians up 1-0 in the fourth.

  • Collin McHugh RP | ATL

Collin McHugh picks up the win Tuesday

Astros pitcher Collin McHugh picked up a win Tuesday against the Twins.

McHugh allowed one run on four hits over six innings of work. He struck out three and did not issue any walks during the outing. The only blemish against McHugh was a solo home run. In the second inning, Oswaldo Arcia was able to take McHugh deep. Other than that, McHugh turned in a strong start. Opposing pitcher Yohan Pino has battered by the Astros, giving McHugh the easy win.

With the win, McHugh improved to 5-9 on the year. He'll take on the Red Sox in his next start.

    Yohan Pino gets drilled Tuesday

Twins pitcher Yohan Pino got drilled by the Astros Tuesday.

Pino allowed seven runs on seven hits over 4 1/3 innings. He struck out seven and walked one during the outing. Home runs were a big issue for Pino. He gave up a solo shot and a two-run homer in the third inning, and allowed a three-run homer in the fifth. Chris Carter was responsible for two home runs and five RBI against Pino.

With the loss, Pino fell to 1-5 on the year. He'll take on the Royals in his next start.

  • Tommy Layne RP | STL

Tommy Layne earns win Tuesday vs. Reds

Red Sox pitcher Tommy Layne picked up a win Tuesday, retiring all three batters he faced in his team's 3-2 victory over the Reds.

Layne (1-0) retired the final batter of the seventh inning before the Red Sox took a lead in the top of the eighth. The reliever then came back on to notch two more outs before giving way to the next pitcher. He owns a 1.35 ERA and 4:3 K:BB ratio in 6 2/3 innings.

  • Joe Kelly RP | LAD

Joe Kelly tosses quality start in no-decision vs. Reds

Red Sox pitcher Joe Kelly wasn't a factor in Tuesday's decision after allowing two earned runs on five hits and three walks in six innings and striking out four in his team's 3-2 win over the Reds.

Kelly put the first four runners he faced in the first inning on base with two walks and two singles to bring a pair of runs home, but he locked things down the rest of the way. He even contributed on offense, going 1 for 2 with a stolen base. Kelly owns a 3.75 ERA and 31:17 K:BB ratio in 48 innings. He's scheduled to face the Astros Sunday.

Collin McHugh back in the circle of trust

So you picked up Collin McHugh for his two starts this week. Wonderful! You're among the 25 percent of his owners to do so.

But even with that little bump, I still say he's underowned at 66 percent.

His 0-5 record may not show it, but over his last seven starts, you could argue he's been even better than in his first seven, the ones that put him on the map before his little bump in the road convinced everyone he was just a journeyman Quadruple-A performer after all.

As I discuss in my latest post to the Fantasy Baseball Today blog, he and David Peralta are the two players on the most added list who have me most excited (well, other than Javier Baez, but he's 92 percent owned now).

Be sure to check it out.

  • Hector Santiago settles for no-decision

Angels pitcher Hector Santiago was pegged with a no-decision Sunday afternoon at home against Boston. The left-hander looked sharp and permitted two hits and three walks while striking out five over six scoreless frames.

Santiago was in line for the win until the bullpen allowed three runs in the eighth. He owns a 3.59 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP over 90 1/3 innings of work. His next start will come Sunday at Texas.

  • Rubby De La Rosa moves back to .500

Red Sox pitcher Rubby De La Rosa picked up the win Sunday afternoon against the Angels, improving to 4-4 on the year. The right-hander permitted one run on five hits and three walks while striking out eight over seven innings of a 3-1 victory.

Over his last two starts covering 13 innings, De La Rosa has allowed two earned runs. He owns a 3.21 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP over 11 starts (67 1/3 innings). His next start will come Saturday at home against Houston.
