  • Justin Wilson RP | BOS

Tigers' Justin Wilson: Picks up another hold Tuesday

Wilson picked up his sixth hold of the season in Tuesday's win over the Indians. He pitched one inning and allowed a lone hit, while striking out two.

Wilson's six holds are tied for seventh in the majors, which makes him attractive in leagues that count the stat. Even in leagues that don't count holds, his 1.54 ERA, 0.60 WHIP and 19 strikeouts in 11.2 innings make him a solid fantasy reliever.

  • Dario Alvarez RP | SEA

Rangers' Dario Alvarez: Opens season with 7.2 scoreless innings

Alvarez struck out the lone batter he faced and picked up his first hold of the season in Tuesday's 8-7 loss to the Astros.

Manager Jeff Banister has been using the southpaw mostly on a situational basis this season, as Alvarez came on Tuesday to retire the lefty-hitting Josh Reddick. Alvarez has tossed 7.2 scoreless innings to begin the campaign, but a 1.43 WHIP and a 100 percent strand rate suggest that some correction should soon be in order.

  • Jose Alvarado RP | PHI

Rays' Jose Alvarado: Officially called up to majors

Alvarado was recalled from Double-A Montgomery on Wednesday.

Prior to the 21-year-old's callup, the Rays were rolling without a left-hander in their bullpen. Alvarado will fill that void as he heads to the majors Wednesday, looking to take the 2.38 ERA and 11.4 K/9 he posted in 11.1 innings with the Biscuits into his big-league debut.

  • Jose Alvarado RP | PHI

Rays' Jose Alvarado: Set to join Rays

Alvarado is expected to be recalled by the Rays on Wednesday, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The team has yet to formally announce the move, but Alvarado is reportedly en route to Tampa Bay. Alvarado, 21, has posted impressive numbers through nine appearances with Double-A Montgomery this season (2.38 ERA, 0.79 WHIP), holding same-handed hitters to a .125 average in the small sample. He will become the lone lefty in the Rays' bullpen.

  • Alex Colome RP | CHW

Rays' Alex Colome: Steamrolls through ninth Tuesday

Colome notched his seventh save in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Marlins, working around a walk and recording three strikeouts.

The 28-year-old closer has bounced back from a pair of rough outings in late April against the Orioles and Blue Jays to record back-to-back saves in the first two games against the Marlins. Colome mowed down J.T. Realmuto, Miguel Rojas and Dee Gordon on swinging strikes, retiring the latter on just three pitches to seal the victory. The hard-throwing right-hander has lowered his ERA from 3.00 to 2.57 over his last pair of outings.

  • Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Closes out Tuesday's win

Kimbrel struck out one and didn't permit a hit to earn his ninth save of the season in Tuesday's 5-2 win over Baltimore.

So far in 2017, Kimbrel has managed to avoid the control issues that dogged him last season. He's thrown 67 percent of his pitches for strikes this season compared to 61 percent in 2016. In 12.1 innings, the flame-throwing right-hander has walked two, both coming in a scary save on April 9 against Detroit that revived memories of his adventures last season.

  • Edwin Diaz RP | LAD

Mariners' Edwin Diaz: Blows second save Tuesday

Diaz gave up a solo home run to Kole Calhoun in the eighth inning Tuesday to blow his second save of the season in an extra-inning loss to the Angels.

The 23-year-old has been unable to build up any momentum in his first full season as the Mariners' closer, and his K/9, BB/9 and HR/9 have all taken a big step back from his 2016 performance. Diaz still has an electric 97 mph fastball, but he doesn't seem quite ready to join the ranks of the game's elite relievers.

  • Buddy Boshers RP | HOU

Twins' Buddy Boshers: Sent to Triple-A

Boshers was optioned to Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday, LaVelle E. Neal III of the Star Tribune reports.

With Hector Santiago set to return form the bereavement list Wednesady, Boshers will head back to Triple-A Rochester. The 28-year-old has made two appearances with the Twins this season, giving up one earned run over three innings pitched.

  • Chih-Wei Hu RP | TB

Rays' Chih-Wei Hu: Optioned back to minors

Hu was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.

Hu was recalled to the majors on April 23 after Tommy Hunter was placed on the disabled list. The young pitcher only made one appearance, as he tossed a hitless inning against the Orioles the day after he was called up. He's a candidate to return to the Rays later this season if they need an extra bullpen arm.

  • Brian Johnson RP | BOS

Red Sox's Brian Johnson: Dominant start at Triple-A

Johnson (1-0) allowed one run on two hits and two walks while striking out six for Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday.

It was another strong effort for Johnson who has pitched well enough for the PawSox to earn a spot start at Boston this season. The Red Sox need another starter Thursday to replace Steven Wright (knee) but it wasn't in the cards for Johnson. Instead, the Red Sox are calling on Kyle Kendrick to start Thursday and possibly more if Wright needs more time.
