  • Angels' Eduardo Paredes: Optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake

Paredes was sent down to Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday.

Paredes only appeared in one game since coming up to the big-league team on July 5, tossing two scoreless innings against the Rangers just two days following his promotion. The right-hander heads back to Salt Lake, where he has dominated recently, allowing just five hits and five walks over his last 12 innings of work, including 19 strikeouts and no runs. He could make a return to the bullpen in the near future, but he will need opportunities in order to be relevant in the fantasy world.

  • Daniel Norris RP | CLE

Tigers' Daniel Norris: Second rehab outing on tap

Norris (groin) will make another rehab appearance with Triple-A Toledo, Evan Woodbery of the MLive Media Group reports.

Norris had a rough little outing Tuesday against Pawtucket, allowing four earned runs in just three innings of work, taking the loss during his first rehab appearance. Manager Brad Ausmus wants to give him another turn to shake off the rust and continue to recover from his groin injury. If all goes well and a third rehab start isn't needed, there's a chance Norris could return to the rotation by the weekend of July 28 against the Astros.

  • Edwin Diaz RP | LAD

Mariners' Edwin Diaz: Notches save no. 18 Wednesday

Diaz collected his 18th save of the season Wednesday against the Astros by pitching a scoreless ninth inning.

The young closer did issue a free pass to Alex Bregman with two outs to make things a little interesting, but he slammed the door by fanning Josh Reddick to end the contest. Diaz now owns a 3.10 ERA and a 12.8 K/9 on the season after converting his fifth save in six games.

  • Hunter Harvey RP | CHC

Orioles' Hunter Harvey: Begins rehab on a good note

Harvey (elbow) pitched in his first rehab appearance since undergoing Tommy John surgery last July, Jon Meoli of the Baltimore Sun reports.

Moving forward, Harvey will continue to rehab in rookie-league games before he's cleared to report back to High-A Frederick for the remainder of the 2017 campaign. The right-hander will pitch once a week during the rest of the year, and then rest during the offseason, rather than throwing in the Arizona Fall League or playing winter ball. The Orioles are hopeful that Harvey will be ready for an assignment at Double-A Bowie to begin the 2018 campaign, according to Rich Dubroff of PressBoxonline.com.

  • Cesar Valdez RP | LAA

Blue Jays' Cesar Valdez: Recalled from Buffalo

Valdez was promoted from Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports.

Valdez was brought up prior to Wednesday's game against the Red Sox due to Michael Bolsinger's placement on the disabled list with right knee inflammation. During six major-league appearances this year, Valdez has posted a 7.90 ERA with a 1.83 WHIP over the course of 13.2 innings. He will likely only be used in low-leverage situations while with the Blue Jays.

  • Brian Johnson RP | BOS

Red Sox's Brian Johnson: Optioned to Triple-A

Johnson was sent down to Triple-A Pawtucket on Wednesday, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports.

Johnson will head right back to Pawtucket after getting recalled prior to his start Tuesday. The 26-year-old went six innings during the no-decision, allowing three runs on eight hits and three walks while recording four strikeouts. That marked the fifth appearance on the mound for Johnson in the big leagues this year. He has dominated at the Triple-A level, posting a 2.89 ERA with a 1.38 WHIP over 56 innings of work, and could return to the Red Sox in the near future.

  • Alex Colome RP | CHW

Rays' Alex Colome: Nails down 28th save Tuesday

Colome notched his 28th save in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Athletics, firing a scoreless ninth inning in which he allowed no hits and struck out two.

The Rays closer was called on for the second time in as many nights and provided a clean ninth after having been touched up for a run Monday. Colome already has seven saves in July and has bounced back from a difficult late June/early July stretch where he surrendered 10 earned runs over five appearances. The 28-year-old has now posted five scoreless efforts in his last six trips to the mound and lowered his ERA from 4.10 to 3.71 over that span.

  • Emilio Pagan RP | CIN

Mariners' Emilio Pagan: Solid multi-inning appearance Tuesday

Pagan allowed an earned run on two hits over two innings in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Astros while also recording three strikeouts.

Just recalled from Triple-A Tacoma on July 7, Pagan has simply picked up where he'd left off in his two previous major-league outings. The 26-year-old right-hander had pieced together a pair of scoreless four-inning outings May 23 and June 11, and he then fired two scoreless frames against the White Sox on Sunday in his first appearance since returning. Pagan brings plenty of strikeout upside (15 whiffs in 15 big-league innings this season), and, alongside former starter Yovani Gallardo, makes for another viable long-relief option for manager Scott Servais.

  • Brad Goldberg RP | ARI

White Sox's Brad Goldberg: Promoted to big-league club

The White Sox recalled Goldberg from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

After dealing away relievers David Robertson and Tommy Kahnle to the Yankees as part of a blockbuster deal Tuesday, Goldberg will move up to the big club to help fortify the bullpen. The right-hander was lit up for four runs in one third of an inning in his MLB debut earlier this season and will likely be ticketed for low-leverage work in his second stint with the White Sox.

  • Brian Johnson RP | BOS

Red Sox's Brian Johnson: Survives six innings in no-decision

Johnson allowed three runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out four over six innings in Tuesday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Blue Jays.

Johnson did not show the same form he had when he blanked the Mariners on May 27, as the left-hander was in and out of trouble through all six innings against the Blue Jays. He managed to limit the damage to a three-run fifth inning and was long gone by the time Hanley Ramirez ended a 15-inning marathon with a walk-off home run. Tuesday's outing is expected to be a one-and-done start for Johnson. The Red Sox are likely to call up another reliever to support a staff that's been asked to pitch 58 innings over the past four days.
