  • Danny Barnes RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Danny Barnes: Sent to DL

Barnes was placed on the 10-day disabled list with left knee tendinitis, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

The right-hander was rough during his Thursday appearance, allowing one run on three hits and one walk in two-thirds of an inning. Barnes will now get some time off from his mostly low-leverage role to heal up.

  • Angels' Eduardo Paredes: Optioned to Triple-A

Paredes was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

He was demoted to make room for incoming pitcher Deck McGuire. Paredes owns a 7.43 ERA in 13.1 big-league innings this season and could return in the coming months if a need for relief depth comes up.

  • Danny Barnes RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Danny Barnes: Optioned to Triple-A Buffalo

Barnes was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo prior to Friday's game, Mike Wilner of BlueJaysTalk reports.

Barnes has appeared in 32 games for Toronto this season, logging a 4.60 ERA and 1.60 WHIP with a 27:17 K:BB across 29.1 innings of relief. He will make room for Sam Gaviglio on the active roster, who is set to return from paternity leave at some point this weekend.

  • Alex Speas RP | MIN

Rangers' Alex Speas: Set for Tommy John surgery

Speas is scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery on Monday, Levi Weaver of The Athletic Dallas reports.

Speas last pitched for Low-A Hickory on June 11 and had a 2.20 ERA and 1.29 WHIP with 49 strikeouts across 28.2 innings this season. The 20-year-old had yet to resolve his command issues, having issued 21 walks in 2018, but he's now likely to be sidelined for most if not all of the 2019 season.

  • Drew Pomeranz RP | CHC

Red Sox's Drew Pomeranz: Throws off mound

Pomeranz (biceps, neck) threw off a mound Friday, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Pomeranz hasn't pitched all month after being shut down with biceps tendinitis. It's his second arm issue of the year after he battled a forearm flexor strain at the start of the season. His return timetable is not yet clear, but throwing off the mound is an important step in his recovery. Steven Wright is expected to continue in the rotation while Pomeranz remains out.

  • Joe Palumbo RP | TEX

Rangers' Joe Palumbo: Will throw at Rookie league

Palumbo (elbow) will pitch with the Rookie-level AZL Rangers on Sunday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Palumbo underwent Tommy John surgery in April 2017, and Sunday will mark his return to game action. The 23-year-old will likely need to work his way up to an official minor-league rehab assignment, and currently seems to be looking at a return in mid-July.

  • Austin Pruitt RP | TEX

Rays' Austin Pruitt: Returns to Triple-A

The Rays optioned Pruitt to Triple-A Durham on Friday.

Pruitt has been solid over his last eight outings (33 innings) with a 3.27 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 21:4 K:BB, but he heads to the Bulls to make room for the return of Daniel Robertson (hamstring) from the disabled list. Pruitt allowed six runs on 10 hits over eight innings with Durham earlier this season.

  • Danny Coulombe RP | BOS

Athletics' Daniel Coulombe: Will serve as Friday's 26th man

Coulombe will be recalled for the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the White Sox as the club's 26th man, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Coulombe will provide added depth in the Athletic's bullpen after spending the past week at the Triple-A level. In 25 appearances with the big-league club this year, he's posted a 4.70 ERA and 1.35 WHIP.

  • Chris Martin RP | TEX

Rangers' Chris Martin: Returns from disabled list

Martin (knee) was reinstated from the 10-day DL on Friday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

As expected, Martin only missed the minimum 10 days while on the shelf after suffering a minor knee injury attempting to run on to the field during a benches-clearing brawl earlier this month. He will be available out of the bullpen for Friday's series opener in Minnesota. Through 23 appearances this year, he's logged a 3.92 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with an 18:3 K:BB over 20.2 innings.

  • Emilio Pagan RP | CIN

Athletics' Emilio Pagan: Continues solid relief work in June

Pagan owns a 2.35 ERA, .207 BAA and 14:3 K:BB across 7.2 innings over eight June appearances.

The right-handed reliever has been mowing down opposing hitters at an impressive clip, as he sports a 42.4 percent strikeout rate during that stretch. Pagan had hit a rough patch prior to a late April demotion to Triple-A Nashville, but he's bounced back to generate scoreless efforts in 10 of 11 appearances since returning to the Athletics on May 18. However, his lack of hold or save opportunities does cap his fantasy utility to an extent, and his 1.37 WHIP also has room for improvement.
